The following message was presented by http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com for all your budget linux cds!
"Mandrake Linux 9.2 RC1 is appearing on mirrors as I type this. We're currently downloading it from Mandrake, for http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com." I'm sorry, but this is a blatant advert. Why did the editors include that? --matt from http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com
Go to http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com
Thats right folks, http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com
Don't forget, http://www.budgetlinuxcds.com
Two problems
a) Your selling those products' credibility down the river. I mean, who's gonna trust software thats been modified for political purposes to malfunction?
b) Not many big DNS sysadmins would update their software once word got out...irritating SCO isn't worth losing your job.
1 From the Article:
Stressing the importance of copyright protection, the campaign begins with an unprecedented television "roadblock" on more than 35 network and cable outlets on the evening of July 24, with each network donating 30 seconds in the first prime time break.
Beginning Friday, July 25, every major exhibitor in the country will donate time to play daily trailers on all screens in more than 5,000 theaters across the United States. Sounds like a pretty huge campaign, gonna dwarf the EFF's efforts by a big margin.
2 Here is the website of the campaign. There's even some FUD: Network users have a back door to your hard drive while you're online, thereby seeing your personal, private information, such as bank records, social security number, etc.
3 The article first said (in the badly edited future) it was the RIAA doing it, when it's the MPAA...I think it was a case of RIAA on the brain.:)
Heres the parent's "quote": "look for apple and you have to troll through three pages of... before you find apple computer..."
Heres the full quote (word for word): Search for "apple" on Google, and you have to troll through a couple pages of results before you get anything not directly related to Apple Computer
a href="+5 Insightful? More like -1 Troll! (either that or -1 Dumbass, hehe)
Its the customers that decide what is on the banner ads! Notice the ads saying "Your Computer Is Broadcasting An IP Address" go to a site saying "Your Computer Is Broadcasting An IP Address Enter Your Credit Card Details Below".
this article and research would be MUCH more interesting if the website being blocked where not a bunch of fucking white supremesist nazis!
"The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all."
H. L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)
Nope the website is actually called news.com.com
Seriously. Go to news.com and it will redirect you to news.com.com, same with download.com -> download.com.com
What's the viral aspect of the GPL got to do with it?
A disgruntled employee could try to release your source under the MPL if they wanted to (which isn't viral). It would have the same effect.
IANAL but I think that basically means - if your lawyers tell you not to distribute the source - don't distribute the binaries either. It's to stop companies saying "well we _wanted_ to provide the source but we couldn't because of court order XYZ".
Shhhhhhhhh!
Microsoft reads this...don't they?

You could use some kinda javascript or hidden form mess to send the session ID as a PUT field without using cookies. :)
Actually I think their free, it said something about the networks "donating" slots in the article.
Yeah I think their point is that its not just the directors and actors that have to be paid...

You get 91% of whatever Apple gives CD Baby, which is unlikely to be $1

Repetition is as pointless as it is lacking a point!
/me wishes that his P2-333 with a ATi Rage Pro as his only system was a joke. :)
The handheld body is made of magnesium.
Better hope it doesn't rain!
Oh great idea! Lets give them another reason to abolish fair use.
Static electricity is fun to play with, not a violent killer.
:/
Tell that to the people who have been struck by lightning.

America != Whole World.
America != Whole World.

*sigh*
/. mentality.
"Don't ban P2P! It has legal uses you know!"
1 HOUR LATER
"So the RIAA won't be able to see that we only use P2P for stealing music. Excellent".
Typical
