So the two intersections near where I live in San Francisco had completely automated cross walk signals and lights and whatnot. Several months ago, cross-walk buttons were installed. Now these intersections have completely automated cross walk signals, but most people now reach & press the buttons when they want to cross.
The only rational reason I can figure for installing the buttons was the inclusion of audible cues for the visually impaired.
This reminds me of another story not so long ago of a school that required Apple laptops and then used the built-in camera to snoop on students at home, in their bedrooms, in their showers.
Not to diminish the terrible actions of those administrators... but seriously, who takes a shower and leaves their laptop sitting in the bathroom, much less with the lid open AND facing the shower?
fyi, the firewire 3200 connector/cable is apparently the same as the current firewire 800 one.
I regularly daisy chain an old FW400 external hard drive through a newer FW800 one into my computer. This, to me, is pretty damn flexible.
The Last Air Bender movie will come out in 2010, and is probably aimed more towards kids, as the animated series on Nick was. If I recall correctly, the Avatar team got into a legal scuffle with The Last Air Bender team who originally prefixed "Avatar:" to their movie's title.
This doesn't make the lack of a control group any better. How are you supposed to determine if your results are "good results" if you can't even distinguish between the effects of your treatment and the effects of uncontrolled experimental conditions.
Say you're testing to see if substance X causes cancer in mice. Maybe all the mice you used just happened to be significantly more or less susceptible to cancer, for instance, due to a faulty batch of feed used during the experiment. If you just compare your results to the expected baseline, rather than an actual control, you have no way of knowing if the results you recieved were due to the feed or due to the substance X.
No controls and the experiment is basically junk~
Also useful might be watching with English dub and with English subtitles, and take whichever one sounds best for the moment. Wouldn't be good for everything tho... wouldn't pass up original audio for Trigun, for instance.
Maybe I just forgot how to use Google and all... but the "Warriors of Freedom" game I found was... a text-based RPG, according to here: http://www.mpogd.com/games/game.asp?ID=1754.

I fail to see how a text-based game can portray violence in a way that a book couldn't...
oh wait, that means... while we're out banning video games, lets ban books too!

Oh Laughing Man tie in, that's some good stuff there.
that's not a bad idea... they should take a clue from, say, facebook, or some other social networking sites.
Please people, on laptops and the iMac G5's (and whatever else has the option), set your procesor speed to 'highest' in the Energy pref pane.
'Automatic' and 'lowest' will give you varying degrees of poorer performance.
In some cases, running the game using a completely new user (without using fast user switching) will also increase frame rates.

Interesting implications considering that my Noreico electric razor turns on when my cell phone laying next to it gets a call...
... that must mean I get twice the brain-fighting power!
I guess I'll be posting to Slashdot more often.
77 pictures from Opportunity are now available for viewing.
Don't you mean Ultima Online, and all those other trade-skill overloaded MMORPGs?
