  1. A little EXTREME aren't you??? on Man Arrested for 'Spam Rage' · · Score: 1

They didn't "intrude" into his house, for one. They sent him e-mail. My ex-girlfriend still e-mails me every so often, and I can't call the cops claiming she refuses to leave my personal property alone, and that she has intruded into my home. They didn't insult him repeatedly about his penis size, they merely sent him e-mails asking if he wanted his penis to be bigger. And if one "upsetting" email can make the entire INTERNET a hostile place for somebody, then you REALLY shouldn't be using the net at all. And finally, how did this make his computer unusable, and cause him a loss of income. He's a computer programmer, and thus should know how to set up spam filters and such. And he is probably making salary, so I doubt he lost any income. Why in the holy name of FUCK would the government come to HIS aid? So what you propose is that if somebody sends you an e-mail that you don't like, you're allowed to threaten them with bio weapons, death, and torture? And this is the Life, Liberty, and Pursuit of Happiness you want to live in? Seriously, this is a case of some asshat that thought it would be funny/cool to say incredibly stupid shit to a company he thought would do nothing, and found out he was wrong. How about you take off your tinfoil hat, step down from that box you call a podium, and stfu, k?

I still purchased CD's during the Napster days, but after finding out about price fixing, and all the lawsuits, I decided to give in to my hatred towards greed (even though I realize they are trying to protect their industry). I have not bought ONE cd, aside from demo cd's released by my friend's bands, since Napster was in beta. And I never will.

I agree. The problem, as I have stated before, is that open source advocates seem to want anybody who uses Windows, or even looks at it, to suffer. So what if Microsoft is putting in a feature that many of it's users have requested, into their product? OMG!! A COMPANY IS USING BUSINESS SENSE! THEY MUST BE THE DEVIL. Seriously, mod me down as flamebait all you want, but seriously, some of the comments thrown around lack any thought whatsoever.

  10. What about police and such??? on The Ten Most Overpaid Jobs In The U.S. · · Score: 1

A police officer holds my life in his hands as well, given the proper situation, just like a pilot. And yet we don't pay them anywhere near the same salaries. Don't get me wrong...my exgf's father is a pilot for Air Canada, and even he says their pay is more than what they should probably earn. Outside of a few errors with the computer during landings, he hasn't had to do much of anything during any of his flights. Basically, most of the flying and other tasks are done by computers these days.

  11. You need RISK to gamble... on Technology Review Launches Futures Market · · Score: 1

How about the same thing that stops it from being legal to gamble on professional wrestling. You can only gamble on what's technically a RISK. Call this flamebait if you wish, but honestly, a major reason more people aren't embracing Linux is because of the entire "Holier than thou" attitude. Sadly enough, there ARE alot of people in the world (hell, alot of people that I know), that fit his description to a T.

Billions in lost revenue??? Kindly explain to me how they would lose revenue from people switching products, which thus mean that THEY ALREADY BOUGHT WINDOWS OR POSSIBLY OWN A HACKED COPY!!! Besides, I am VERY sure that Windows did not lose billions. The monopoly they have on the market (last I heard it was something like 98%) means that they really don't give a shit. People have to start realizing that MS isn't like every other business out there. There really isn't ANY economical opponent for them, aside from a small portion of (growing) Linux supporters.

And yes, we will always get people who are new to the net (or for the most part, female), that will send us links of pictures, articles, or flash movies, that we've seen countless times. 17. The General Rule of Thumb for Hollywood Profit on Movie Industry Blames Texting for Bad Box Office · · Score: 1

In Hollywood, execs don't believe a movie succeeded, unless it pulls in THREE TIMES the amount of money it cost to make. 10 years ago, when almost every movie cost less than the average actors salaries these days, 11 million would be a great amount of money to make. But now, SO many movies are breaking the 100 million dollar barrier. Trust me, The Hulk did make a ton of money, but most of it was release weekend sales. The weekend after, it was knocked off by whoever. Honestly, this summer sucked for movies, and The Hulk was by far the biggest disappointment of them all.

How will the government provide all this? Have a Homeless Persons Agency? HA! The costs involved in that would piss off ALOT of people, not to mention the government. If they're homeless, being able to contact them is STILL going to be hard. What will they do? Drive around, looking through parks and alleys, with a scanner to find out where they're sleeping, and let them know that their sister was hit by a car? Will they even care enough to do anything for them? We live in a society where police (a government funded agency) don't give a shit about most of the events they respond to, and these involve tax paying citizens, and you expect another organization to take care of people who aren't funding them in any way?

There are more than enough ways for homeless people to get back into society. There are shelters, welfare, care programs, and so much more. It does take awhile, but you can get back on your feet. When I was still in college, I realized that I didn't have alot of money to play with. I thought about getting a job (I had quit my high school job to go to college), but then I realized that the hours would kill me (commuting to the job, working, then commuting back home, would waste valuable time that could be spent playing games and doing homework). So I just made an MF sorc, and started doing runs. I would play for maybe 3 or 4 hours a day, and in between classes. I never used any bots (out of fear), only maphack. Every day or so, I was able to get myself some Ith equipment, rare runes, and so much more. Then I'd be off to eBay, to make some profit. While this may piss off alot of you, I was able to go drinking several times a week, and take my girlfriend out often enough to keep her with me to this day, and buy myself things to amuse myself with. Much better than flipping burgers at Wendy's, like I used to, although not quite what I am making now :P
