This case has already gotten a tremendous amount of publicity. For those who don't know, awhile back TONS of prostitutes went missing in that B.C. area, and after an investigation, the cops found alot of corpses in this pig farm. After the media circus kicked in, the judge put a ban on it, much like the Bernardo case. However, during the Bernardo case, alot of facts from the case still slipped out, and after the case was complete, everybody knew what happened anyways. On a side note, the Bernardo case is perhaps one of the most bungled cases, outside of the OJ Simpson case...
It's been awhile since I took any physics classes, but I do remember that the speed of light is 3.0 x 10^8 metres per second...that was the fastest anything could go, according to Einstein's theory of relativity. Now, I know that this speed is only when in a vacuum. Light moves slower in water (2.184 x 10^8 metres per second, if I recall correctly...it's supposed to be approximately 3/4 the speed of light in air). So does gravity move slower in water, and if so, by how much? Is it slower than light?
...ever wanted to play Gran Turismo with your fridge? I can see it now "Error.. toaster not in range for texture generation. Please network water cooler to complete game download."
And they'll be all over mIRC channels an hour later...seriously, this is going to make authors the new dying breed of employment, after musicians and actors...
My only worry is that we're going to be swamped in about 5 years, with games released by a group of friends all taking the above mentioned courses, who think their 'game' is good enough to be released. I've seen CS student games....they're wrong. So very wrong.
So how long would you go afterwards? Here in Canada, U of Waterloo's CS takes about 3 years, then you'd take another 1-??? years taking that? It's a decent idea, but flawed. The amount of debt you would inevitably rack up would dictate that you get a job with one of the top gaming companies, just to pay off your debt from tuition and loans.
On a side note, has anybody noticed anything odd with the moderations? I posted, and it was immediately put to Troll, and I refreshed, and suddenly it was Score:2 Funny....dunno what is even funny about anything I post:P
Hopefully, this will be a blessing for overcrowded Computer Sciences classes. I remember when I was a kid, all I wanted to do was make video games. Alas, most of university/college courses cover other things, such as business utilities, or math problems. While this does help programming skills, it isn't hands on experience in the field of choice for most students.
2003 - 1998 = 5, not 6... go math!!! Anywho, the people involved are all tied up in larger projects. I wouldn't be surprised to see this made in the next year or two.
It clearly states that they don't know if it is legal or not. Microsoft has the money and power to take them to court, until they're bankrupt (like when the RIAA took Napster to court). Even if it is legal, Microsoft would bury them, and this would never happen in time. Plus, Microsoft would just go ahead and make X-Box II

They are planning on making a movie about it, based upon the original idea by Douglas Dixon. I wonder why they have the name as Douglas Dixon instead. The book is still called After Man
Look at the impact this way. Alot of children do watch television. I used to watch it, but not as much. I still flip through the channels however. Many a time, I've come across a channel showing something about technology, or space, or something scientific, and I'll leave it there. Learning something new, is ALWAYS a good feeling. With the loss of this show, we may in fact hinder our chances of having children decided to choose a scientific field, to major in, and thus lose their creative input on the world of tomorrow.
I hope they replace the show with another cutting edge science show, or maybe a show that talks about various world events, and the conspiracy theories that they relate to (I love reading about them here at/.)
Gun ownership in the States is easy to come by. I live in Canada, and I literally have NEVER seen a single gun shop, nor a real gun (except ones in holsters, carried by police officers). I think this is a major reason. Another thing, is that the killers are usually teens, and the media wants to provide a reason for what went down.
Odd little scenario....have you ever heard of a shooting in the projects, or in the ghetto, or wherever, and heard the news claim it was due to video games or movies? Hell no!
Just what I need. More non english speaking kids who can insult me or say the same annoying line, repeatedly (Diablo 2: Wug? Wf? gf? soj?...ack, no thanks!
Seriously, I remember being in High School, and they had the computer labs upstairs, and computers in the library. Everybody gets on them, and they usually know WAY more than some halfwit librarian or teacher, and so they just do some multitasking, making it look like they're doing work, and just surf the net, or play Drug Wars. And when they do computer classes, they aim them at people who have no computer experience, which isn't fair. I remember completing most of my Computer Science classes in 10-20 minutes, and then having to sit there for another hour and a half while the girls and stoners stumbled through Borland C++ or QBASIC or whatever God awful piece of out of date trash they fed to us.
It costs the government too much money to keep all the computers in the state/province/country up to date, so kids will always have to deal with near obsolete programs, at least until they reach University or College...
Her brother and her were given money constantly by the Ukrainian Government...meanwhile, her brother ended up going through numerous surgeries...but man, she was good in the sack ^_^
Cuz I don't have a credit card. I guess now I have a reason to go get one. The only place that mentions the need for a credit card, is ultra fine print on the side of the box. Even in the sections such as "What you need to play Live" it mentions bb connection, the live kit, and other crap, but makes no mention of the NEEDED credit card. The only reason you need a credit card, is so they can bill you after a year. But considering that they haven't released a price for next year, this seems illegal. What is to stop them from charging 400 bux, and me getting stuck with a crazy bill, forcing a cancel?
Keep in mind, you DO have 10 fingers (well, 8 and 2 thumbs). You would need to have all 10 cut/burned in order to mess this up, and also, fingerprints can still be accurate with cuts and nicks on your fingers. Criminals have burnt their fingers in acid, to avoid being caught, and still they're found due to patterns that exist on the finger. One little cut, or even ten, would not affect it by much.
so too in 2050, Christmas will be all about presents
Is that any different from now?
I seem to recall predictions made by the president of RCA back in the 20's stating we would all have nuclear reactors in our houses by the 90's, to feed us power.

there were more women than you'd expect, and some in small metal bras.... None survived.....

Dark matter is really God.... *end religious post*

My room is hot because of all the porn I watch on my pc... it gets me all hot and bothered. Can't really vent that into the walls, now can I?

I can't see us lasting to the end of time. We'll kill ourselves, or run the earth dry of resources, before the 'end of time' comes.

What does it mean if the watch starts glowing green, and melts? Do they have a little voice that says "Congratulations! Now you're the Hulk"?

Will this lead to a mistrust of the government? Umm, since when was the government actually trusted?
