    And as for all existing players being unable to play these discs, that's the price you pay for being a HD-DVD early adopter. One would hope, despite their past track record, that Sony won't obsolete all their (say 500K) existing BluRay players just to squeeze out 2GB more.

    While I can understand the need to eat and keep a roof over one's head while continuing to provide and improve free software, how much does it cost to simply open source the code?

    Excuse me but...has AMD actually released anything? Can I go to my local AMD store/website and actually buy these systems from them. I doubt they've released anything except some reference designs for other manufacturers using AMD produced components and branding.

    There's no strictly rational reason why a person born without a functioning higher brain should have more rights than a German Shepherd;

    I, for one, am not inclined to grant excessive rights to any other species that isn't granting, at minimum, the same back to me. If I don't eat lions, then I don't feel they have any right to eat me. And if it is survival of the strongest + smartest, then let things fall where they may.

    My biggest problem with Vista is that it comes in 7 Damn Versions. Whatever one I pick it won't be the right one, and in some way won't be completely compatible with someone running one of the other flavors. Linux, at least, comes in one version once you've picked the distro you want. For someone claiming to simplify my life, all MS has managed to do is confuse me. And when I'm confused I don't make decisions, which means I'm not upgrading to Vista any time soon. This certainly cannot be a benefit to MS since I likely speak for millions of others suffering in silence.

    Funny that it's not mentioned that Vista is a Pig compared even to XP. And all the built in Secure Path[tm] DRM takes away more of your rights to use your computer as you wish than ever before. Only Hollywood/Intel/AMD/Dell/HP/IBM/Gateway et al should be rejoicing the arrival of our new MS Overlord.

    I'm getting XP on my next machine while I still can.

    In the Florida case the manufacturer refused to provide the software for any kind external audit citing trade secrets. The judge determined that this made it impossible to prove the case against him, or allow him to defend himself - case dismissed.

    A lot of the questions posted so far are misdirected. It appears clear to me you're asking specifically about the hard drive forensic analysis of the provided hard drive, and not about screenshots, Media Sentry (where else have I seen those evil initials?), John Doe suits, or other aspects of this case.

    Because I've already given you the specific questions about the hard drive, however, here's one about Media Sentry screen shots. How do they prove that the clock on their computer is correct as to date and time? A non-faked, non-proxied, IP address only points to a specific destination at a given time. Dynamic IP addresses will point to different users at different times. They have to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that not only is their time set properly to indicate when they gathered their data by whatever secret methods they used, but also that the ISP logs have exactly the correct times. This is not always as easy as it sounds.
