I'll get rid of the last floppy drive in my house when my wife's loser college stops requiring floppies for papers and stuff... The won't let her use my thumb drive, "it might contain viruses" or some such nonsense.. *rolls eyes*
Like either of those and you'll be happy... Not bad prices either, considering... Of course we need a PCI-E 16x version of the Rocket Drive and an SATA 300 version of the HyperDrive III...
Downward compatible though... So I can stick a 4x card in my 16x slot if I don't want to game on the machine... Can you imagine a $100 board with the bandwidth to handle 12 74GB Raptors running full tilt without breaking a sweat???
That's what I'm waiting for... A nice hardware RAID controller on a 4x or more PCI-E slot would rock! And should be available on your typical consumer board pretty soon... No more wishing PCI-X wasn't just on expensive server boards...

This will be HUGE if they can get it to run Halo 2... I'm almost willing to buy an Xbox for Halo 2 after waiting so long for the first one to come out on the PC... Not to mention all the other stuff you can do with it... If this can run it, all the geeks that dislike Microsoft but love Halo will be all over it.
I for one welcome our new Chainsaw-wielding Robotic Submarine overlords.
I swear, that's the only one I'll ever post!
Seriously though, pretty freakin' cool!
There's an AC/DC joke in here somewhere...

Check the lyrics, they're rather fitting... I'll just post the whole thing since I'm not funny enough to edit it well...
AC/DC
Back in Black (1980)
Back In Black
Back in black
I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back
Yes, I'm let loose
From the noose
That's kept me hanging about
I've been looking at the sky
'Cause it's gettin' me high
Forget the hearse 'cause I never die
I got nine lives
Cat's eyes
Abusin' every one of them and running wild
CHORUS:
'Cause I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back
Yes, I'm back
Well, I'm back, back
I'm back in black
Yes, I'm back in black
Back in the back
Of a Cadillac
Number one with a bullet, I'm a power pack
I'm in a bang
With a gang
They've got to catch me if they want me to hang
Cause I'm back on the track
And I'm beatin' the flack
Nobody's gonna get me on another rap
So look at me now
I'm just makin' my play
Don't try to push your luck, just get out of my way

I saw this stuff on The Next Step or Beyond 2000 years ago... I think they called it "Frozen Smoke" at the time... Amazing stuff... I think they said a piece the size of a sofa would weigh about as much as a loaf of bread... Cool to see it again with a real use... Did anyone else see it back then?
I'm not sure where you get your benchmarks, but for $144 you can get a Althon XP 2800+ from newegg that will smoke the pants off a 2.4Ghz P4 and overclock just as well...
BTW, retail 3400s are also at newegg for $439.00... Personally I'd spend half that and get 95% of the performance with a 3000, which is probably the best price/performace processor ever (and certainly at launch)...

I can't be the only one that read it that way...
Because there's no way I'm buying 4 copies of a CD just to play it in RAID 0...
Folding@Home is my distributed computing effort of choice.
How is this more worthwhile than that?

That means they'll sell for cheaper, right? *rolls eyes*
Sweet! I'm sure glad I've been holding onto my 8x SCSI burner... This would make me sad if I had just bought a new one...
There's a joke in there somewhere... ;)
What's wrong with that?
Ha! Tell that to Rocko!

Not if the Lovely Ladies have anything to say about it!
Reminds me of the Gameboy Camera Color Project: http://www.ruleofthirds.com/gameboy/
Not that one! ;)

One million dollars split between 500,000 people is what??? TWO DOLLARS!!! Well, at least we'll be able to pay that annoying paper boy...
Well, at least this won't effect any of us... ;)
Because of Red vs Blue myself and all my friends have started calling the rocket launching Warthogs Pumas...

Wow, this is the first time I've heard something both on the radio and on /. but heard it on the radio first...
