I wonder why Metallica (the band) sued Cover Girl over that chrome-colored lip polish that they nicknamed "metallica"?

Oh, probably Metallica fans got messed up when they went to Wal-Mart, and ended up walking out with lipstick instead of the Ride The Lightning album or something.

Not sure if you know already or not, but Debian is pretty easy to upgrade from one version to the next... Two commands, really: apt-get update ; apt-get dist-upgrade. Still cheaper than upgrading Windows.

I haven't used Dropline, but I do use Gnome, and I was in your position. I had very bad luck with Gnome until version 2.0. I used to swear by KDE and swear at Gnome, but as you mentioned, it has vastly improved. I can't go back to KDE now. I just love how GTK looks compared to Qt. All of my favorite apps are GTK-based anyhow. So all is well.

I hope it continues, and I like that people have the choice to use KDE as well. It's all good.

The company I work for has just upgraded 7 of 8 machines that are essential to the business to newer ones running Linux just last week. The 8th one is going to be done early in the new year. The systems are set up with Linux already, as we purchase them and support from a different company, so in a sense I guess it wasn't our direct choice to go to Linux. The previous systems were running SCO UNIX, I believe. However, there are still systems with SCO there, and they want to move them to Linux soon, but they are waiting until the dust settles around this suit. So they didn't ditch the plans, they just want to put it off for now, to be safe.
