I'm a geek. I'll happily admit it. I have a degree in CS with a math minor

You have a degree in counter-strike? That rocks.
By this statement I mean that it is sad that I see CS and think counter-strike before comp sci... I guess the math minor is so he can go -

A couple of jokes... ? Not too off topic. What do you call three sheep tied to a pole in New Zealand/Scotland/Spain/(insert sheep loving country here)? A Leisure Centre. A ventriloquist (sp?) is on holiday in New Zealand, and walks onto a farm. He sees the farmer and they start having a chat. The ventriloquist decides to tell the farmer that he can make animals talk. The farmer looks at the ventriloquist skeptically. The ventriloquist then says, see that horse? I'll make hime talk to you. "How are you?" The horse replies "Good, my owner treats me well, always feeds me and keeps me sheltered." The farmer is astonished. Then the ventriloquist asks the dog, who replies "I always have food, and lots of work to do" The farmer is now dumb struck. Then the ventriloquist asks the Sheep "How are you?" But before the sheep replies the farmer recovers from his shock, and looking a little panicky yells "The sheeps a bloody liar!"

I was appreciative of Bionic Commando. Mainly because (If I recall correctly) you were like the country's back up plan to the real hero (who was MIA) and not really expected to succeed. However, one game I loved was Defender of the Crown. It was a little like Risk, where you would move troops around England and hold/take/lose ground, and it was turn based. But it rocked. You could also get hitched if I remember correctly. You could also Joust, Sword fight (occasionally when you were discovered with the wrong woman) and equip your troops. Also, Robin Hood would occasionally come to your rescue! Sounds a little lame, but my brother and I had stacks of fun.

Hmm, I don't think it was entirely media, as quite a few of my classmates (not friends) hated it at secondary college. But then most of those kids went to Deakin Uni...

Interestingly enough, there was a huge uproar in Oz over this episode. I remember before the episode came out everyone was excited that there was a Simpsons episode about Australia. However, lots of people were offended at how the show made Aussies look like backward. Personally I loved it. Strangely enough, I recall Matt Groening came to Australia a few month after, and was interviewed by (I think) the Today show (a morning/breakfast news and current affairs show) and he said how suprised he was at Australias reaction to the show. He was all apologetic and said how he didn't mean to offend. Personally I liked the episode, but a lot of fellow Aussies didn't. Any Aussies out there like this episode?

That is intriguing, and a little disturbing, but an analogy (say that quickly five times) that I like to use is me compared to my other co-workers when I was at McDonalds to put myself through Uni. And managers. For instance, we had someone come up to one of the front counter ladies and get change of two tens for a five. Twice.

  9. Yeah I agree, on Console Games Sales Beat Out PC · · Score: 1

I agree completely - I love mucking around with games, modding them, creating maps, customizing etc. I have spent too much of the past four years playing Counter-Strike. As well as the advantages of a PC, there is also the fact that (correct me if I'm wrong) pretty much all innovation in the gaming industry have been courtesy of PC game designers. Actually come to think of it, Super Mario 64 (the 3D one), blew me away, but apart from that... and maybe Goldeneye on N64... ok, but still, most of the new ideas and intriguing (sp?) games immerge from the land of PC. Also (a touch off-topic, but related), it is a fact that pretty much all households that have a console will also have a pc. Why not place the money that you would spend on a console into upgrading your computer? I mean, a console has just the one function (games) and at most two (dvd and cds...) Whereas your computer can well, we all know what our pc's can do. (music, videos, games, publishing etc.)
