This is something that drives me crazy. I bought a screen with a relatively high DPI, and on half the websites I visit now the content is provided on some kind of fixed size (in pixels) flash thingee.
This is just another in a long line of examples of why Flash is Evil.
You mean Flash, the technology that brought vector graphics to the masses, then scaled video streaming?:P
And I thought US presence in the Middle East caused sectarian violence, rather than prevent it.
The consequences of the US invasion have been downright horrible, not only Iraq was destroyed but there are millions refugees all over the place, a dangerous stand off between Iran and its enemies, reckless Israeli behaviour that killed thousands, and more instability across the whole region.
How can the Middle East be not better off if Americans leave?
JDownloader plainly refused to work for me (both linux and windows). But for CAPTCHA defeating software, and downloading lists of megaupload files, google did its own tool and published it : plowshare. It's a bunch of bash scripts, relying on a few dependancies - very clean and nice piece of software.
Even then, a Maglev train loses to a conventional high speed train, as it is incompatible with existing tracks.
The ride to my capital by high speed train takes five hours, three at conventional speed and two at high speed (Toulouse-Bordeaux-Paris). It's not that great (buys two hours over a conventional train), but a Maglev would be vastly more expensive and require people to switch trains. Anyway seven years from now we get a high speed Toulouse-Bordeaux line, bringing total travel to Paris at three hours.
Maybe that's an X thing rather than a Linux thing but why is it so that in 2007 that feature looks broken? most times any flavor of win9x or NT correctly detects the screen and allows to choose res and refresh according to the monitor limits. I'm part of an association that builds PC from parts donated or lying in the streets, we use more or less crappy CRTs.
Editing the xorg.conf and tell bullshit about frequency ranges to get 1024x768 85Hz gets boring. Also PCs with improperly blanked screens aren't a rare sight. There are many computers labs full of them at the university (X terminals, diskless VIA C3 PC with 17" CRT), wasting a ridiculous amount of energy displaying black rather than being stand by. That should be urgently fixed.
slight correction : the cable you link to is gold-plated;). and so is the cheap jack/RCA cable between my PC and my amp. A lot of cheap connectors are gold plated, so it's some more reason not to be ripped off buying a $50 or $100 cable.
As for most people : I tend to think that most people don't own a DVI cable ^
and, if you put that HTPC right under the TV, why not this $5 cable. it would be quite un-natural to aim for that PC with the infrared remote if it's 7 meter away from the TV, anyway.
why not close tabs with the middle button (the same one that opens them) ? I never use that cross on the right, will disable the cross on each tab..
And now that I think of it I'll try to find a way to disable that red cross on the right you like so much;). how can I do that with FF 1.x ?
in a sense the browser I'm using right now has a 3rd dimension.. tabs ! it seems vastly more efficient than dealing with a dozen flying and rotating windows.
should read : mine is decent, classic looking, doesn't needscrews for the cards and drives, and has enough room inside. then, enjoy the $50 or $100 you spared!
get a cheap noname case, take out the included PSU and smash it with a hammer (the PSU, not the case).

What the hell do US and UK people have against a national ID card? It's just a mean of proving your identity, here in France we've had it for well, decades before I were born. A driver license can be equally used. At least, unlike in the US, people without driver license have papers.
It's the PC cases which have a dumb non standard power LED connector!
for 15 we've had a two pin power LED connector (still the same for HDD LED and others) and now we have that useless three pin connector. Don't know why, maybe Intel or whatever decided this to piss me off?
they have a working prototype, the LIL ("ligne d'intégration laser"), which amplifies and fire 8 beams. there will be 30 of them in the LMJ
BTW there's some cooperation between NIF and LMJ, for the experience chambers, getting the materials and for I-don't-know-what.
this looks much the LMJ (laser megajoule) we are going to get here in France. We also claim it will world's most powerful. I don't know which one is better, but we'll have 240 beams versus 192 beams on the US facility:D http://www-lmj.cea.fr/html/cea.htm

Well, MIPS R4000, Sparc64 and Alpha came out much earlier than 2001 you know ;)
It's plugged in!
It's gonna say, hey I think I got a new device.
It's gonna load the appropriate driver.
You now expect this nuke react.. Wooww!!

Obama is on the right too.
1. LDAP?
2. PAM or Kerberos?
3. Groups?
or X11, ssh, VNC, VirtualGL etc. along with video-conferencing and VOIP, turning it into the ultimate thin client.
Analog television standards actually don't have a horizontal resolution.
yeah, ban home A/C except cooling for one room if there's an elderly people or someone with a similar vulenarbility living in the house.

it must be part of the Illuminatis's plan to bring the new world order!
my country is nuclear powered, you insensitive clod!

this driver should be on the mobo's CD, no?

yes there's a version of 4DOS, but it's called 4NT ^^
