that's totally true because all the hard criminals out there have microphones and webcams hooked up in the same room that they're doing their illegal deeds in... dumbass
I know its been said before but, this is a step in the right direction for the open source desktop movement. In order for mainstream businesses to adopt linux, there NEEDS to be a M$ Access alternative available. Right now there isn't anything that even comes close, and that is a major reason why many people don't even try out linux on the desktop.
I hope that eventually, Rekall will come bundled with mysql and that it will resemble an access type application. I think that if this happens it could be a very strong alternative to Access.
I was really looking forward to the on-foot parts of the game. The N64 version of Rouge Squadron had some interesting foot missions, and I was hoping that Factor 5 would bring these to the 'cube and make them even better.
Has anyone played the cooperative version of Rouge Leader 2? I think that this would be a fun waste of an afternoon:)
It seems as if valve finally got some news to be happy about. This title should definately sell well and make alot of money for them. The screenshot looks pretty good, considering the engine for the game is quite dated by now (regardless of updates).
Too bad they didn't include Zelda 3 in the package. That was the best zelda in my opinion, however the games included are good... I think it would be neat if they remade zelda 1 and 2 with updated graphics, sort of how Square did with its Final Fantasy re-releases for the playstation.
I like what I see about the G5. It looks like it would make a great workstation, but at $4,198 few people could afford it. Unless you're doing high end video manipulation or DNA sequencing I can't see someone being able to justify spending that much on this, unless they are rolling around in money.
Scully mentions how hypercard was sort of a predecessor to HTML interfaces. I disagree, it was more like an early version of Visual Basic or Python.
I learned how to program on Hypercard in highschool. It was a huge thing to be able to code simple visual applications quickly because before that it required alot of work to get GUI apps working. Its too bad that Apple ditched hypercard because it could have turned into a very useful tool to teach people how to program.
Its too bad that stories like this keep getting posted about Nintendo. In this case the losses come from the depreciation of the yen against the dollar, but I'm sure that some people will just glance at the story and assume that Nintendo is hurting financially. I hope that this bad press doesn't discourage anyone from getting a gamecube right now, its a great machine at a great price:)
It didn't mention it in the story, but I think that it would be logical to assume that linux clients would get cut off from the network because ICARUS probably doesn't come in a flavor that scans linux file systems. So besides robbing users of using p2p for legitmate purposes the system also prevents them from using a free operating system? Am I missing something here?
The character models have been improved significantly
The story has some minor changes
There are some pretty looking cutscenes
When using the binoculars when its snowing, snowflakes appear on the view
I'm looking forward to this remix, but I hope that you get a bit more for your money if you've already played the original. The website says that Twin Snakes will combine the best features of MGS1 and MGS2, so we'll see how it all works out.
While I agree with you in concept, your example has a flaw.. the N64 had far better performance than the playstation. In the case of performance bigger numbers == better.
It will be interesting to see what the community does with the source. I think the first thing that will be done is a Homeworld Plus version of the original game, with extra features etc... but with all the great homeworld mods out there, some of them could be made into standalone games that have their own look and feel. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I think gaim should add games too... I wonder how hard it would be to write a plugin that would add a game playing functionality, maybe it would require a rewrite of the core program itself.. in anycase I think that it would be a cool addition.
I agree, the final confrontation with kefka was a perfect culmination to a perfect game. It left me with a huge sense of accomplishment and I replayed the battle several times just to try out different strategies to beat him. I think he should have made the list.
I think many people wrongly criticize capcom for continuing to use old fanchises in their games. Honestly, if something works why change it? The resident evil games continue to amaze me with the amount of enjoyment I get out of them. Some of the games may not be great but that's true of any development studio. Also they are trying to make new unique games (ie PN. 03, Maximo) that bring new gameplay features to the table... Give capcom a break, they are doing a good job.
If you want to "play the news" why don't you just get some balls and join the army or be a reporter. Pretending to be part of current events doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun to me, in fact I find that it would trivialize real problems that people face every day.
You bring up a good point, an engine is an engine, but there might be some game specific stuff that mod developers can use. I wouldn't expect much from Troika from an engine standpoint, but I think that a friendly attitude toward mod developers (ie not hassling them over using game content and being helpful when it comes to questions) would go a long way toward developing an active community around the game.
:gamers tend to hold developers to every feature they promise
I disagree, I think that gamers only hold the developers to the truely unique and interesting features. Alot of times, the things that make a game seem different are the first to go when a lack of funds forces developers to cut down on features. This is because the unique features usually add alot of time and cost to the equation. Developers such as Blizzard usually don't forget this rule, which is why they are so successful. Its not rocket science, gamers want games that give them something new.
I wonder if the creators of Vampire will be as open to mod and level creation as Valve is. With the use of the source engine, I think that there will be many tools available to the community but developer support is crucial too. I guess time will tell.
He has a very "proprietary" attitude... but what can we expect from a man who has made his money selling software licenses to people over the years.

I'll probably snag a copy just to replay it on the light side, and at high res.
Some people just have too much money to throw around.. buy me a copy!
Sorry my bad... the foot missions i was referring to were in Shadows of the Empire for N64.

After years of waiting, Daikatana's 3 fans will finally get a sequel :)

Now how about that linux client?

Or maybe a unofficial linux client port??

Would you buy a car because you liked how it handled in a game?
yes.
