spam spam spam. if spam should be illegal, so should any form of unsolicited communication. that includes conversing to persons without their permission at the local pub.
Try going to a local pub and have a conversation with somebody. Not too hard, might get a friend out of it.
Now, go to a different pub, and as loud as you can, describe in great detail a medical condition you have. Try to make sure everybody at once can hear you. Ignore people's requests to stop.
Do you see the difference? I hope you do.
Actually, the examples given are rather poor. Seeing as how
a) That's a business deal. The wife agreed to buy exclusively from you.
b) A government is a public institution, not a private institution.
c) We do not purchase money. There is no product being exchanged. Besides, it's ours, and through Congress, we have decided that it's the gov't's responsibility to manufacture and distribute money.
Really, it's a stretch to say they're monopolies. If you don't live the gov't, you can easily move to another country.
This only EMULATES a shell. So it'd be very convenient to people more accustomed to a command line interface.
Therefore, you can easily code it to check as to what it can and can't do (and combined with.htaccess, it should be secure).
Exactly. You just expand to the rest of the map, and use a couple siege weapons to take them out (or even better, cut a row through trees).
Please, play the game some more before you make snap judgments.
Uh, if you don't like getting screwed over in Random Team, play Solo.
See, the idea of upkeep is to keep the Starcraft mentality of "max out my base with photon cannons and get carriers". Now, you can't just sit there with a bigass army behind 17 rows of cannons and pump carriers from 18 stargates. You have to think.
Less units = more management. You don't just pump units and hope you win, you have to target units. It's a lot more thinking. And, I think, a lot more fun.
Anyway, if you play solo up to about level 13, then play Random Team and you'll be playing with other higher-level guys.
People can sue over anything. This isn't some huge outrage, it'll probably get tossed out.
Hell, I could sue Slashdot for using ESP on all the girls I meet to ensure I never get a date (although, I doubt they'd need ESP influence). It doesn't necessarily mean it'd go before a judge and jury.
The difference between Nintendo and Microsoft is that Nintendo's products are worth the money. Really, anti-competitive practices, monopolies, whatever, it doesn't matter. It all just comes down to a good product.
Microsoft does not make good products.
Nintendo does.
Therein lies the difference.
Then, of all the profits you have left, give 99.98% of it to Bill Gates, and spend the rest you have on stale crackers for lunch.
Then you'll start to get the picture of the economics of non-cookie cutter artists.
I agree wholeheartedly. I also plea to Slashdotters, avoid gun shows!! They just encourage people to go and shoot random bypassers.
While you're at it, never go to a bar again, because they promote drunken driving. Designated driving is just a way to make it LOOK like they aren't.
Oh, and never play a computer game again, because you know those crazy Everquest addicts that haven't seen the sun in 14 months... you could turn into one of those.
Geez... it's just a convention. It's not a cry to go out and 0wnz some b0x3s. If you can't find a stable job, that's too bad. How's telling people not to go this convention gonna fix that?
While it's not Microsoft, Apple is a big company with it's own interests. If they want to develop a p2p network of their own, then they have the capacity to fight the RIAA/MPAA. They have money. They have good lawyers.
Another couple hundred million people ensuring I'm never going to get a job.
I'll just have to work an inane patent on jobhunting, then sue them all on a DMCA technicality.
Is it DRM? It might be, in the most true sense of the word. Management of my digital rights.
Is hardware-based encryption stealing your mp3s? Heck no. If anything, it would be harder to prove you're doing anything illegit with them. Remember, the RIAA can't crack it, thanks to the DMCA.
What if you encrypted the uploads through p2p? They couldn't tell if you're sending pictures of your kids to Grammy, or if you're helping others pirate a new release, or if you're sharing some source code.
Using something like PGP, breaking it would not only be extremely difficult and a waste of time/money, but (IIRC, but IANAL) illegal under the DMCA.
For every action, there is an equal yet opposite technological circumvention.
Wouldn't it be a delicious irony if the drug causes cancer... and the cancer is only treatable with radiation therapy?
MS withdraws from WC3? But I thought Warcraft was doing well!
Last I heard, it doesn't play Battle.net, which is the heart of Warcraft.

The newest fad: Warbroadcasting.

I often factor out common jeans to find a really good pair.

A rose by any other name... ...still checks your harddrive for mp3s.

Wow. Looks like somebody's winning the $200k after all.
Probably not more than $1,000 if you rent a studio and distribute it on p2p.

My dad owns Blizzard AND Microsoft, and he says that they're coming out with Warstarcraft of Empires 5000. It'll be the best game, EVER.

I think it would be more of a DDoS...

Negative, the script is written in VB.
Of course, the study was published before they found all the timebombs in the unhappy, overly criticized workers' code.
