EDIT:NOW WITH EASY TO READ SECTIONS!

"Oh HDMI is overkill component is just fine!"
Yes component is just fine for some people but I don't want 5 cables hooked into my reciever I want 1. I want everything centralized and instead of running tons of wires everywhere I want 1 cables that does 1 thing and can plug into all my devices and not require a bajillion cables to do it. Simplicity at it's finest.

"120 GB is ridiculously big! Why do you need it?"
HD shows which you can now download are peaking over 4GB each for 30-45min. Now that you can download HD content right to your box AND use your xbox as a soon to be DVR you will be filling up that XBOX's meager HD in no time. I for one want to watch 6 episodes of 24 in HD with maybe a few movies stored on it with all the details all on my XBOX. If you haven't seen what HD does to your storage capacity then you don't understand why more is better.

"HD-DVD is a waste! my regular DVD is just fine" Regular DVD's don't do 1080p, regular dvd's don't have features that I think are neat and interesting like skinning or frame replacing that HD-DVD offers. I want something for the future that is coming out NOW rather than be limited by something my old xbox does well i.e. play regular dvd's.

Hi definition content is NOW, not tommorow, not next year, it's here NOW. IF Microsoft wants my money, wants me to own a piece of their equipment they need to move to the future and not the analog past. 1 Device, 1 Plug, 1 single setup to run all my HD-Content. The only thing holding me back is MS.

They call themselves evil? Break out the deathmaster, start throwing in some epic underground areas in which players are fighting tooth and nail trying to get through places intead of wide open areas. Cut off movement, bring back stealth and light effects, and make it count.

That's the issue I have with WoW. Everything is so vast and huge and open. I like the challenge and difficulty that is running up the tunnel in WSG carrying the flag and that total chaos that erupts from 10v10 in a small area and having the victor roll out with the flag and carry it home.

Warhammer has a rich underground history with the dwarves and skaven. Use it to their advantage. Build on it, deploy the ratmen with the goblins and you'll see my money flow from WoW to WAR in a heartbeat.

  5. rip it all out on Dell Aims for Gamers with XPS M1710 · · Score: 0

If any person buys this for 'gaming performance wondermint!' they are usually (work with me here) rather tech savy.

What do I mean by this? They know their way around the computer itself. They full well know that have Windows Media Center 2k6 is the worst OS out there for gaming performance, having bloatware installed on your computer keeps the HD running constantly slowing down gaming, and the wretched drivers that come with it are like running an indy car on doughnuts.

I bought a brand new dell E1705. I turned it on, download 3dMark05, took some benchmarks, wiped it clean. I then installed it with WinXP Pro, latest drivers for the NVIDIA system, and then Norton Antivirus Corp Edition, Ace's Mega Codec pack for movies, and then benchmarked it again. It was night and day comparison.

I got nearly 25% more performance by doing a clean wipe than going with the buggy shit that Dell bundels in there for the unwashed heathen masses. I convinced a buddy of mine to buy one (we both do WoW) and he stuck with the core OS and updated the drivers and ripped everything out. Still he can't get anywhere near my benchmarks.

I would compare this operation to buying a brand new sports car and having the interior and electronics of the car be designed by a schizophrenic woman on menopause. Sure it looks and drives ok and some of the WONDER gadgets may be functional, but I need to do 0-60 in less than 3seconds and I don't give a shit that my seats are the latest in designer leather, I need seats, that's it.

Watch me cry a big fucking river over it.

On the other hand we can rollout broadband and provide access to millions of homes that the local carriers won't touch becuase they are too remote for cable and DSL just sucks ass. Let's not forget Fiber coming out sometime soon, but who the hell thinks it's going to hit the rural areas of say Montana? I don't think so.

BPL is a cost effective solution for gov'ts to use as well as for it's citizens. Provides faster response times for it's electrical grid as well as monitoring AND gives citizens a way to cruise the net at faster speeds than their shitty 56k modems from AoHell.

The greater good is being served here, sorry Hammy's find a way to tweak your signals' y'all have been doing it long enough I'm sure you'll just add another sat dish to your home to keep the aliens from beaming down into your basement.

If you as management have this ability then you can pull off your Attila the Hun approach which is great to strike fear into the hearts of your employees and can really get shit done but they will hate you for it and can unite to make your life hell.

Treat others as you wish to be treated. Don't be all chummy with them, toe the line, and leave them to their work but if they need your for ANYTHING you come in like an avenging angel from heaven and do it and you will gain their respect which will allow you to do wonders with them.

Trust that they will show up on time, not standing by their cube with stopwatch.

Trust that they will be responsible with their actions, don't be another mother to them.

If you can build the levels of trust that coexist between employee and management your life will be easier, but not easy, and your employees will be more productive.

As management of past jobs, I've managed to piss off my employees and them hate me, but on others I followed the above laws and they became one of the must functional and useful teams on the job site.

based on ST is a fucking joke. They fucked that book over 6 ways to sunday. Comeone, it was a play on fascist society and the way it works and runs and who has a voice in the gov't. The movie turned it into a bug hunt/shoot out at the OK corral and with only a plug as to the role of the naziesque gov't.

The book focused on the role of the citizen, his duty to his country, the way a solider goes into battle, the training, the sacrfice. You get a feel for Johnny as he goes through all this and you get to see his reaction on new tasks, seeing his dad signing up when he cursed Johnny for joining, and Johnny commanding troops. It's an all around good read for people who like the genre of social commentary involving military forces.

I really loved the movie for what it was: A beer and popcorn watching shit blow up with some hotties movie. Not that it was based on ST. Maybe based on the back cover but nothing more. And they made a sequal to it! ARRGGGHH!!!

I really liked the Bourne Supremecy, it matched up nicely with the first one: action, suspense, Jason Bourne trying to figure out what the hell his past is all about. I can't really say anything negative about it.

Now the Watchmen is all about acting. It will take some damn good castyping to get down the roles of these 'heros'.

Roushank (sp it's been years) is a kind of mixed bad good and bad guy he does allot of shit that most people would find vile but he still goes through with it. Bruce willis comes to mind.

The Owl: You'll have to get someone here who is in his late prime and muscular/fat AND geeky to pull that off. Can't think of someone for this guy.

Blonde Hero/Smart guy: (again forgive me, this is all remembering vaguely their names) Finding someone who can speak well and command power and respect and come off feeling like a 'good' guy while really being a powerhouse is not something any tom, dick, or harry actor can portray. I wish there was a younger version of jeremy irons. I was thinking of that guy from that jousting movie he's blonde and has charisma. If not get Christan Bale!

Blue man: I nominate Kevin Spacey for this role! Brillant, out of touch with reality, and totally self absorbed.

I hope they keep the sex, drugs, and rock n'roll in. That really set the tone for the comic and gave the reader something more than you're typical Spandex wearing chix with big tits and guys with muscles that make Conan look like a twig deal. These were all 'average' people who developed powers and really didn't move too far from being your typical human being.
