  1. Re:I had this problem too and here's how to fix it on Half Life 2 Stuttering Bug Official · · Score: -1

Still doesn't work. I ran the contig fix [www.theisonews.com] that i found and it defragged all the files in the HL2 dir, and after that still nothing. As for specs: P4/2.4C 1GB DDR/3200 9600XT 128mb WinXP/2 Dual seagate 160GB SATA/Hardware Raid 1 SB LIVE Audigy Platinum All drivers are set to latest You honestly can't say crap about my system being low end. It's sure not high end but RAID 1 helps out immensely in most games and with my VGA card being only 2 generations behind (X800 being the latest) I should have 0 problems playing this game. But it still does stutter like hell and so does Vamp: Masquerade. This is an engine problem that needs to be solved.

  2. Re:World's Largest Dungeon?! on Podcasting D&D Games · · Score: 0, Interesting

I've bought this thing and it's well worth it. It's got over 18 unique regions which have 2'x2' maps all in color that correspond to each section. You can virtually take one region and use it for your own game or take the whole thing, it's a toolkit for DM's to use, maybe they want one and not the other, so they can just cut one section and use it.

The sections are well done up, the stats are spot on and very usable, traps are in detail, DC's are simple, the format is easy to read and not cramped. This thing is well put together and very very flexible.

$100/18 regions works about to $5/region with a full blown map. You can't beat that cost ratio!

seriously this is using new technology to it's fullest. You are taking a game that is quasi-based on real life and making it into something that can be manipulated for entertainment in a whole new area. Games like this should be used to inspire other gaming companies to think outside the box when it comes to the next game. After all, we've got all the FPS we need, do we honestly need one more (D3 and HL2 don't count in reagards to this!)

It was only a matter of time before companies started doing this. Pushing content down the LIVE system is a great way to support and increase revenue for a game. Yes yes yes yes It's SUPPOSED to be free, but who cares, they are supporting their game with mission and addon packs similar to what Valve and Maxis do with all their add ons for their games (do we hate them today or not?) and allows me to play the games longer. $5 is nothing.

As one who has purchased PDF's from Drivethrurpg.com and RPGNow.com I can honestly say that RPGNow is a much better alternative. Why? Well I have a linux box that I view my PDF on, I print it out at work, I also have a laptop for my game. DRM will not do. So i downloaded 2 programs which ripped it to another file and removed part of the process. I think took the file and then had another program 'clean' it up as far as fonts, searchability, and picture locations. Total time between installing software, reading manual, and doing the process: 3 hrs. Total time to repeat process: 30-45 min depending on the size. It still came out a lil blurry but otherwise very usable. Now I carry it around on my USB thumbdrive so it's handy and portable but did come out a bit larger in size. Go figure.

For example: There's a torrent out there for Stargate SG-1 for all 7 seasons and DVD movie and so on and so forth. it's 56GB. That's right FIFTYSIX GIGABYTES. People have been downloading this thing for about 2 months solid trying to get it all. But why? Is it just because it's a good show? Is it because they missed the first 3 seasons and need to catchup? NO. It's because hard drive space is cheap and it's a damn good 'feeling' to know that you have completed the entire thing.

For me, I am downloading that, full seasons of it and many other series. Never watched a show but I NEED THAT DAMN THING! Will i ever sit through 7 seasons solid of SG-1? Hell no, but I must have it, because it's there. Probably has something to do with Obsessvie Compulsive Disorder but in regars to data and not physical objects.

I think any warez junkie will be more than reluctant to admit they got a 'problem' but then again maybe they are just die hard collectors of 'stuff'. Who knows.
