    I have the same type of job and what I do is exercise after work. I'm wondering why you had to post this via slashdot to the entire world to find the answer since it is so simple.

    Let me repeat this again...
    When you get off of work go home have a sensible meal then exercise. Do both cardio (running) and lift some weights. Heavy/low reps for size or light weights/10-15 reps to cut up.

    With all of the anti-terrorism tasks in effect there is no way this will happen and/or last simply because it's an anonymous way to move funds. This goes directly against laws being implemented to stop all forms of money laundering, transfering funds with maximum anonimity, and fake store fronts of which to move the money through.

    There's so much more to this but the only way this idea would make it is for it to not be anon but that defeats the purpose right?

    Seeing as most gaming sites make you pay to download patches along with everything else bt is a nice program to have now. Instead of being charged to join a site i.e. shacknews, etc. you can just look through the forums and download the patch , etc. for free and much faster.

    Even if its not gaming you can usually find whatever file you're looking for with bt. BT itself does not make you download warez or copyrighted music but if you do thats your business and no one else's.

    What if J.A. wants to burn a cd to play in his car stereo? There's a lot of mainstream support for doing this with mp3's that are easily found but not for the rest of the formats. Yes people who know how to find shit can get what's need but not most

    If as you propose, all the music formats are eliminated except one, it will cause quality and file size to NOT improve. When has Microsoft innovated when faced with 0 competition? Never.

    MP3, OGG, WMA, RA, etc., etc.

    There are too many formats as it is and now we have players supporting different types. Some more than others. I know they all have their +/-'s but it's almost like the browser war. Our format can do this and sounds like this and is only this big, etc. Same old game. That goes for IM clients too, as well as, many more products out there.

    Too many choices muddy the water and confuse consumers. We don't have the compatibility issues that frustrate software formats, i.e. ms word vs word perfect but having players out there that don't support all of the formats sucks. The newer players are getting better at this but I'm sure the do-it-all ,multi-function pda's only do so much. Oh well it's all a matter of taste...

  12. What to store/backup on DVD Burner Round-up · · Score: 1

    The only reason I would purchase a DVD Burner is to store movies recorded on my digital camcorder. I think that's the best use IMHO right now seeing as unedited and non-divx formats can be much larger.

    Backing up my collection of Columbia, Atlantic, as well as, the other record companies entire catalogs is also of great use. I intend to over throw all major labels with my major uploads of their entire catalogs. It should only take me 1200 years to finish the uploads in progress on my 14.4k modem.

    Seriously as soon as the dvd burners are in every household the MPAA will start to become heavy handed in it's approach just like the RIAA is now. Personally divx/mpeg screeners, cams, etc are alright but the quality is not dvd quality plus to decode, burn them and such it's just easier to buy the dvd.

    I will say if the MPAA starts to use RIAA tactics then I'm done with buying dvds. I've already cut back as they are a some what silent partner in the current RIAA struggle against humanity but if they take it any further they're done. I see them as a lesser evil in a sense. The old bastard Jack Valentini or whatever his name is has no clue and he's a typical grandpa who doesn't know jack shit, much less, how to use a tv remote.

    When will we really fight this attack on our civil liberties. There seems to be a form of McCarthism developing over this. What happened to innocent until proven guilty. The powers that be in this case just presume you're breaking the law without knowing what file has gone where.

    Does everyone realize that the war on MP3's is always in the headlines yet, rape, murder, and the like don't get any of the hype like this subject. P2P copyright infringement, yes infrongement, not crime is becoming the most demonized subject since Marijuana and a lot of us know how full of shit that argument is.     We need to all sit back and take a hard look at what's going on or we risk the gradual loss of our freedoms and choices. It really is up to us where this goes. RIAA/MPAA/Paid members of your local goverment, house and senators with a vested interest in pleasing the lobbyists for these groups are now changing our laws and no one on our side is doing anything to fight this. WTF are we going to just sit here and take it dry? Forget the file trading issues we're talking about our freedom of choice in, what was once, a free market.

    It's up to every single one of us to vote with our wallets and to inform our senators and congressmen/women that we simply will not stand for this. A revolution in a sense, non-violent, but with knowledge and money and we have the masses to begin this. Will we continue to sit on our asses or will we fight for our freedom of choice and fair use?

    Who said you could take the files home? They forgot to inform you of their new DRM-Wifi model which gives you a subscription to download the files but you cannot move them more than 6 inches on the table you're using. If you chose to ignore the DRM-enhanced service and adjust your laptop then you're fucked!

    I understand why these companies want to prevent others from stealing this cash cow. You're talking about huge amounts of money just for ink. I can't remember where I read it but there was a story about ink being 3 times more expensive than a fine wine or something like that. Maybe it was here? It's fucking ink so I don't know why it's so expensive.

    It could be all of the companies in collusion with one another to keep the prices high.

    We should boycott Lexmark and while we're at it boycott Epson for being busted by joint tests by several European consumer groups indicating that Epson ink cartridges prematurely block printers from churning out more pages even when there is enough ink to keep going.

    How many major flaws can winOS's have? They know they can patch it to death and the weak outcry from the public fades in a couple days.

    Since we have to pay out the ass for most of their software how about a rebate system for serious exploit/holes/flaws? I say for every exploit/hole/flaw found that can give the bad user on the other end total control of the box Microsoft should issue a "I'm Sorry" rebate check in the amount of $50 or an instore credit for some other piece of shit software they sell that I have no use for. They can afford to do this and it might make them go over the code a little better and possibly employ some people to try to hack the shit out of it to find the weaknesses. It always seems to be the same type of exploit just done in a different manner.

    Although statistics might have their place somewhere I've yet to find that place. Say you take a poll asking how many times a week a person has sex and 100% say never or less than once a month. The grouped you polled was a convent full of nuns...ok bad pun but you get the gist of what I'm saying...100% of polls are misleading and only serve the purpose or ideology of the entities invloved. If you don't believe me I suggest you research the subject yourself because in the latest poll I tracked showed this to be true in 99% of the cases give or take +/- 3%.

    If you think about the reliability, uptime, and random reboot problems with many MS products then this could be great for us citizens.

    We know all of the attempts to restrict our personal freedoms with wire taps, internet/email monitoring, and the ideology to put all of the collected info into a massive database for those who have the clearance to peruse. The best thing is, although, they might have your most personal info it will probably be collected and stored by a MS product.

    What does that mean? It means it will either disapear or just spontaneously fragment and corrupt itself! Why our goverment chooses bloatware over dependablity and functionality is beyond me but they were never known for being frugal or making the best decisions in terms of bang for the buck. I'm sure MS is practically giving it away just to keep the business anyway.

    It makes you wonder how many fuckups happen just out of using MS software. I'm not saying it's the worst or best because it does have it's use but since this story is about our goverment using it I'd prefer a more stable and dependable os/desktop. When I think of mixing MS software with our goverment all I see is the movie "Wargames" and that's not a nice thought.
