    who's first reaction was to wonder what it might be like to live there, in the cannibal galaxy's nucleus?

    I thought the very same thing when I was watching Into The Universe With Stephen Hawking, I think the episode was entitled A Brief History Of Everything and at one point they play a computer simulation of galaxies merging and eventually they throw a lot of galaxies together before that piece ends.

    Might be worth looking up as it was incredibly beautiful.

    I don't particularly find Facebook's stance and practices on privacy anymore troubling that societies general attitude toward to the subject.

    Personally I've been done with Wikipedia for years, it takes itself too seriously... A lot of what humanity was, is and will be is nothing more than bullshit and tom foolery. And unfortunately Wikipedia has only nailed the bullshit part thus far!

    My brother-in-law bought an LED set not too long ago. I believe it's an edge-lit model, so that may contribute to the problem, but... the bright parts of dark scenes tend to be about half as bright as they should be.

    I tend to lose all visual fidelity in dark parts of a high contrast image.

    Obviously the personal angiush such a thing is to bring is no laughing matter but in a world with wars such as we have had and the atrocities we continue to have 143 persons is nothing. Is it because they were white and from a rich industrialized nation I should care that much more than the thousands dying right now from easily preventable hunger?

    It's just a police action occurring over there and to try and gussy it up as armed forces or a war is just a way of excusing the thousands upon thousands of innocents killed and maimed in this mess.

    Jokes aside this brings up a good point.

    Countries can and do exist without a meaningful standing army! If you say you want peace than your goal should be no less than the abolishment of standing armies in our lifetime.

    Whilst this statement is sure to be decried by my pears I believe it is an honorable goal and one worth trying to achieve.

    Yeah, that's everyone's excuse for closed source.

    Then don't use the products? For Christ's sake man your going to have to put up with a mixed eco system, hegemony is not going to be a good thing regardless of whether it's closed or open source.

    There is nothing that says you are entitled to effective search, or entitled to a pointless touchscreen "phone" (sorry they are nothing more than two way radios to me and I can't understand people spending more than 50 bucks on a phone, but that's my problem).

    You can avoid all the closed source stuff in the world and shut that trap of yours, no one is stopping you.

    Of course, most people will have to learn a new language in order for this to be useful which diminishes the effort.

    It's not like you have to be fluent in a language to understand the code to some degree. There are a lot of concepts in programming that transfer amongst the various languages and it would take no more than a trip to Wikipedia to see how any language works in relation to any other.

    I agree we need a new system in place to handle finance, I suggest using human based locomotion to place your rotund gluteus maximus in the safe confines of a real establishment with real people, providing a top tier method of verifying where your money is going that nearly any lay person could use! And not only that; it would go a long way to help support your local economy while helping to expend your probably excess storage of chemical energy.

    The obvious reason Microsoft has standardized on h.264 is its support for DRM.

    Or perhaps they are unwilling to spend the development assets on adding more than one native codec when functionality can easily be extended for those so inclined with a plug in.

    It should also be noted the usage rights you obtain with DLC does vary from item to item. For instance, I believe there are a few games on Live that will register to the console and be playable across all profiles on said console.
