I think Google needs to rethink either its corporate behaviour or its motto, because the two do not happily coexist.
Depends on who you believe their audience is. If you believe it to be you, then yes. However Google is in business to make money, which means you are the product that Google is selling to corporations (in form of advertisements and tracking history).
When you consider the true audience, the motto makes more sense. Google doesn't want to upset the corporations feeding their bank account. They don't give a shit about you're feelings.
Seriously, as an IT manager, I've been replacing more and more installs of Firefox with Chrome due to features broken in each new Firefox release.
Our company uses several SaaS applications, and when basic javascript functionality is broken, we still need to get on with business.
Hell, MLS.COM after 4 major Firefox releases STILL doesn't work (used to), and I've filed a report each version. Just stupid shit that the devs shovel another bullet point onto a feature list, and be damned if it breaks other stuff. Fast and stable, Firefox's two features that made it king, are now dead and buried.
Of course I want an iPhone 5.. my 3GS is due for a contractual upgrade, so why not get the 5. I already know what the 4 will do, and each release of the phone has been progressively better.
It's not like I want to throw away my investments in apps and go to another OS (droid or win7). Sounds like a no-brainer to me, not a cultists mindless decision that commentators make it out to sound like.
Back in the day we drew out the traces out on paper in large scale then photographed it. The copper clad board was coated with chemical. We put the film negative on top of the copper board, blasted it with UV then dumped it in a bath. After the copper etch bath etched away the copper (and hopefully you did it right or some of your traces dissolved too) the board was given it a tin bath.
On a recent Delta flight from Orlando to Minneapolis, I had the pleasure to sit next to a Delta employee on the same trip. He didn't even bother turning his iPhone on airplane mode.. in fact he was checking his email during takeoff and landing.
I kept hoping and waiting for his phone to ring during flight.
This is one of those times I wished I had mod points. It sounded like a god damned firing squad rather than responsible policing. Seriously.. 3 cops and it sounds like each of them emptied their clips in a matter of 5 seconds or less.
I believe they have no beef against CentOS, actually I've seen at least one Red Hat employee encouraging the use of CentOS, since Red Had is the "de facto upgrade path"
Actually I just migrated our servers from RHEL to CentOS being as RH jacked up the prices for support by a fair amount. My $350/yr per server included limited support AND updates, and now it's only updates.
RH can pound sand, I still get the same benefits of a "RHEL distro" w/o the $350/yr charge.
I must say, this is an impressive version. I've been using it since beta, and regardless what 'benchmarks' may or may not say, it's perceptually the fastest browser I've used.
Now if there was just a decent ad blocker available, rather than the TPL's that only block 3rd party scripts and images.
Until then I'll stick with Firefox for a cleaner view of the sites I visit.
The question is why would you do a bit-for-bit copy? Use a program like AnyDVD HD and simply make a copy of the disc with the protection removed. Not only can you then put your originals away and only play the copy, you can put a copy on your media server as well (via handbreak)
That's right up there with 'How do I stop the email I sent 5 minutes ago?'.
People (unwashed masses) don't take the time to think about the consequences of exposing themselves on the Internet.. let alone the privacy implications.
Didn't quite work out that way. Got a "Steam needs to be online to update" message. Perhaps the Mac client differs substantially from the Windows version.
Odd, because my Windows laptop plays steam games just fine in single player mode while offline. Infact, the majority of the time it's offline.
That said, the Xerox machines do some other interesting things as well - for example, they'll refuse to copy UK banknotes from the glass
Just a step up from that, Konica-Minolta copiers will sense if you try to scan, copy or print a banknote. When it detects this, it will put the copier into a service lockdown that only a Konica-Minolta tech can unlock. The displayed error code will rat you out, AND the tech is legally obligated to inform law enforcement of the infraction.
That and yes, it definitely marks each page with a serial number linking it back to the copier.
No, it's more like buying a high performance car, then chipping it to remove factory imposed limitations like a speed limiter.
Sure, people will argue your just going to break the law and speed excessively now, but that doesn't negate your right to do it. That whole innocent until proven guilty thang.
Flying is a privilege, not a right. If you concerned about your freedoms and privacy, then drive or take the train instead of flying. It's not like you don't have options.
I for one am happy they are taking a more proactive roll in screening passengers on flights. It's also MY RIGHT to feel some assurance that the guy sitting next to me isn't planning on hijacking the plane.

The 40-year-old book seller could start shuttering its 399 remaining stores as early as Friday
Seriously, what's with the recent rise in usage of the word 'shuttering'. I mean, I'm gay and all.. but I'm not THAT gay to use the word shuttering.

Now.. GET OFF MY LAWN!
It's "Rodents of Human Size", and they're know to gravitate toward politics.
No, but they above others should be more aware of flight rules and regulations than the average passenger.

My condolences for those basement dwellers that missed their chance for a magic comet ride.

Just like Acuras/Lexuses are just Hondas/Toyotas.
Want to piss of an Infinity owner when he asks what you think of his vehicle? Say, "Meh, it's still a Datsun"

...OGG and VP8 out of the box now?
Do your parents, grandparents, or 95% of the population care? I'd wager not..
Abstinence makes the church grow fondlers.

Herd mentality at it's finest... Mooo!
Dammit, does this mean I need to buy the white album again?
Mod parent up +1000 please.
The open source movement has been bragging this is one of the top reasons why software should be open source in the first place.
Time to put your money where your mouths are.

Both were related to me by a Minolta tech.
Just don't eat the yellow snow!
Not unless you boil the piss out of it.
