You know, the US could just turn off their overseas Internet connectivity and isolate itself. Or you know, be part of the international community and accept they are no more special than any other netizen with attempted hacks on their IP addresses.
The costs calculated are likely flawed, as is the performance. First off, the majority of ISP's forbid running any type of server (with a world facing connection) on a residential package service.
Secondly, as one who used to run a Tekkit server for some friends on a co-located (i5-3550k/8GB RAM) Ubuntu server, Minecraft requires good upstream speed to host more than 3-4 connections. Even at 10Mbps upstream, having more than 5 people on started to lag everyone slightly.. the more users of course, the worse it got.
It's one thing to run a intranet for XMBC, but whole different ballgame once you start have a world facing server.
Why the fuck does a WORD PROCESSOR even allow embedded Flash files?! Payloading like this shouldn't even be possible in the first place, that would be as bad as embedded.EXE files in a.doc that autorun when you open the.doc
the only real competition for the Ouya is the WiiU
I certainly hope you were being humorous. The Ouya is little more than a toy, if anything it will appear in the checkout lines of Best Buy next to the other electronic 'toys'. Have you even looked at the specs for the Ouya compared to even last generation consoles (xbox, ps2)?
Oh gawd, how awful is next installment going to be after the abortion the second one was. Frankly, 2012 is going to be a tough year to beat, so many spectacular titles came out. The first real year that I was looking to so many releases.
After my mate and I went to see The Hobbit in IMAX and being charged $65 ($20x2 tickets & $25 for popcorn and drinks) I've sworn off going to see another movie in a theater again. I'm tired of paying for the privilege of someone kicking the back of my cramped seat, and people texting during a movie.
Instead I'll download the bluray rip and play it on XMBC on my big screen. The downfall of theaters is their own doing, and I say good riddance.
Does anyone even listen to these idiots anymore? I lost all respect for them a decade a go, anything they say is usually wrong or completely laughable.
I never said the iPhone wasn't locked down, I simply stating that the carrier was holding ALL the keys on an Android device, to the point of strangling future OS (and feature) upgrades unless they approve them.
Why do you think Steve Jobs pushed to hard with AT&T and demanded full control over the OS? So shit like this wouldn't happen with the iPhone platform.
Money grubbing cell carriers would rather have your device locked down, so if you want the latest features, you buy a new phone.
And yet people are still surprised that Android is becoming more fragmented every day. The drawing has been on the wall since the launch of the the OS.
It's not a trading card game (TCG), it's a collectors card game (CCG). You're not allowed to trade your cards with other players.
Outlook.com still doesn't support IMAP, which is why I'll stick to my own email hosting solution.
I don't get the whole thrill of StarCraft. I've watched a few competition videos and honestly the game seems about as fun as watching a chess match.

Yeesh.. at least there's some good reviews out there.. for instance this one.

I was looking for laptops today, and it seems most of the business class Thinkpads come with Win 7 installed, and media for Win8 in the box.

Search all first names of defendants in criminal cases and then target ads for legal services to the top 5% of the names?
In Canada, when a gun is turned in or confiscated (via a ban on a certain firearm for example), there is no compensation and the firearm is destroyed.

Expensive general purpose computers, just the Raspberry Pi.. oh wait.
De Beers is responsible for pricing fixing diamonds to the point where they are fashionable to steal.
Really, this story is the most asinine thing I've ever heard of.

Yes, because JAVA exploits only happen on Mac OS. *rolls eyes*
The hacking of their website makes them a Sad Panda.
Parent modded "Funny", but exasperates why Slashdot needs a "Sad But True" mod tag.
In one fell swoop this will end the current generation's pop music industry.
I would go one further and say that situations like this is why RELIGION shouldn't be allowed.
Considering I can buy the BluRay version of the movie for less than seeing it in the theater, I don't even bother going anymore.
Here for the new Mission Impossible flick, $18.95 for the ticket, $15-18 for a large popcorn and pop, yet I can buy it when it comes out for $28-30.
Yeah, no thanks.
Sorry GoDaddy, I already switched all my domains and hosting accounts away from you yesterday and I will continue to advise on alternative services.
A shame really, considering I used to recommend them to people asking me where to register a domain and start a website.
