    I've seen lines of (apparently) Mexican men lined up at Western Union counters in the local supermarket. I assume it's their preferred method for sending money home.

    There are many different forms of capitalism. The most common is what's known as a mixed economy. It works quite well here in the US.

    Not the same thing at all. Humans evolved alongside other fauna in Africa for millions of years; they arrived in Australia fully armed as a dominant predator.

    Stupid fucking games instead of trying to run something properly

    Take a look at the moderation in this conversation. Screaming, swearing insults and personal attacks in support of the left are modded up to 4 and 5 as "insightful" or "interesting", those arguing on the right (without swearing or personal attacks) are modded down "offtopic" or or "overrated".

    You shouldn't expect to be taken seriously if you don't behave like someone who should be taken seriously.

    NASA had a similar problem years ago. They were testing the component by exposing it to voltage spikes. Passing the test also damaged the component.

    Interesting little fantasy world you live in.

    What really changed medical care in the US was the Democrats' attempt to socialize it back in the '60s. They were afraid to take it over completely, so they went halfway with Medicare. That program guaranteed hospitals would be paid to provide unlimited and expensive care to the largest segment of their market. Profits soared and any incentive to hold down costs went out the window.

  21. Those who think humans could do anything to stop even a small asteroid, let alone a big one, need to read this report. Something around 36 hours between it being detected and it passing Earth. Maybe enough time to evacuate part of a medium sized city but that's about all.

    Maybe that's why neither the the scientists nor the article said it would replace steel. All that both said is there are many applications for a lightweight but very strong material.

    Read a bit farther, eating less meat didn't make any difference. In other words, fresh vegetables, olive oil, or red wine might help, but meat didn't seem to hurt.
