Actually, the reason NeoOffice exists is because of how Sun rejects community code. The same goes for the code that comes from the second largest OOo code contributor, Novell.

Wow. It is amazing how dense you generic-box people are. You don't even notice that Apple only use a few lines from Intel as it is. They don't put in random processors like Dell and HP.

There is a difference between supplying a variety of random chips and a single line in LARGE quantities.
There's also a difference between market share and the number of computers a company ships.

Until Macs start coming with AMD chips, I doubt I'll buy another one any time soon.
AMD is in no position to keep up with the number of chips that Apple requires.
Scenario 2: all companies involved decide that no one really wins a format war (particularly the end-users) and come up with an open standard, like we had with DVDs and CDs.
Except that Japan didn't want to wait on DVD and created VCD.
It's how military R&D works. We're using stuff now that was developed what...20 or so years ago, if not more in many cases? The life cycle of this stuff is a lonnnnnnnng time (a combination of your standard red tape and just the time it really does take to properly push out this kinda stuff).
Well, the stuff that ends up WORKING will last a long time.
It also reduces my electric bill, which means more money in my pocket
Except that you'll be in debt for quite a while paying for all that fancy equipment.
No reason not to test it. ;-)
Funny. Most universities seem to be more interested in acquiring researchers in order to build up their patent library.
Even sports programs get more funding at a university than anything as unimportant as education.
Wait until they catch the first Terrorist Tuna!!!
As it flies over the enemy, they toss a couple of timer based explosives on it so it will explode when it reaches the soldiers?

First time I've ever heard of them.
What? You think they should be doing something else in engineering school like STUDY?
That's why US companies want to hire from India and China. They actually TEACH in school.
Anything but a Troll...

"Miguel De Icaza" is spanish for "Microsoft's Lap Monkey"
Miguel will always be Balmer's lap monkey.
Slashdot readers don't have girlfriends and therefore don't have children.

Actually the Care Bears mate with (or are raped by?) the Wookies and the end result is the Ewooks.

If I was still paying $20/month to T-Mobile this'd sure be the end of it. What's left in their network besides Borders bookstores?
Airports, hotels and Kinkos.
There is an illusion of Windows stability?
I thought Symantec released the first Scareware for Macs?
That would be the chain that forces the distributors into editing for "family friendly" videos.
