    Now maybe - But how long until you can do things like that - Ever played Morrowind? - When I started this game I was shocked by the sheer amount of things you can do and places you can go

    It is in no way as good as a proper D&D session - but the games get closer with each new release

    (yes I will be the first person in line for a Neurocannula)

    People love google

    Everyone is now using it - as it is small - light - fast - easy - and good

    People have irc scripts that use it - Embed it in their webpages

    I for one hope that google lasts - I would even pay a small amount if it would help keep them going

    There is a huge difference between that and this - Keeping your house warm is something you do because you need to - If HeatB is cheaper and cleaner thant HeatA then you do it

    Cars on the other hand are something embedded in our culture - Think about all the different types of racing we enjoy - Think about the big American ideal of gliding down a empty stretch of freeway in a huge caddy with the top down

    Think about the people who mod this and mod that on their cars - Will they be able to do that with a Hydrogen Burner (and where does the electricity come from? - Burning things or atomics? - or the small percent of power that comes from clean sources?) I don't think so

    I know my first post sounded like a Troll - But I was just pointing out that people love their cars - And it will be a hard thing to change

    I own (or look after) a computer which lives in a 'modified' (I ripped all the plastic crud off) HP case (due to its small size)

    I installed a new heat-sink+fan and found that when I slid the 'easy to remove' (way back when it took me and a friend about 20 minutes to figure out how to remove) CD/HD/Floppy holding tray back in - It would not fit

    End of story: I had to swap the HD and the CD around - which due to a lack of screw holes meant I had to hold the whole thing together with Gaffa-Tape

    Case Design sucks

    His age is of no inport - On my irc server/channel I know someone who is 72 and happily talks to us about Seti@Home (he runs many computers for this purpose) plays gangwars and is generally a super-geek

    It's nice to see apple updating their beta software - We can only hope to continue (we all must have experienced that long long wait for new features/pest control)

    Is this a trend that will continue? - Or is this simply an update that stops Safari eating your first-born or whatever all those bugs did

    Because the internet has always seemed to be - to me anyway - a way for people to meet on a level - you can walk into a chat-room - and just talk - post on /. and just be - the idea that one day people will know that I am 'poor' because I cannot pay to access those areas which the well off frequent - Just does not seem right

    I have been reading Otherland by Tad Williams and one of the most disturbing ideas presented in it (it is set in and around the 'net' in about 40 years time) is that large areas of the net will be paid for and if you do not have the money then you do not get in
    This makes the net into something it should never have to be - A two-tier system

    PayPal is good and should be replaced by something better and less likely to break - A worldwide system for 'tipping' - But paying to get into areas of the net? - Chilling

    You note I am working in the £ and not the dollar - You can get cheap mac's but to convert I think OSX would be the key - and OSX on a 'non-swivel' iMac is slow

    I am hoping for a drop in price - There is still no "bottom end" mac for people who would like to use them but do not have the money (I could get a decent PC for 500£ but a decent mac is at least 1000£)

    This is the only thing stopping mac dominating the world
