the "we" thing, okay- i understand that feedback, but that's the voice of the site, i'll see if it makes sense to change it for the how tos. thanks for the kind words on the how-tos, folks seem to like them. right now, i have 3 ipods and 4-5 phones, as i upgrade, i keep them and use them for other things, i might be ebaying some for $. as far as time to do all this stuff, i don't really sleep that much and right now, i'm taking some time off to enjoy life. and lastly "pulling the same face" wow, well- i can't change the way i look. hope this clears stuff up.

i wouldn't say "hey, you should do this and that, bring electronics, never unplug, blah, blah" so why would you want to tell me what to do? i actually like to use technology in lots of places, it's fun for me. i never quite got why people would demand you "enjoy" something in a certain way -their way- and nothing else.

although i think a lot of people do in fact do that, i however did not. i'd never send along info i cared about when doing something like, mostly because i'm the same person that would set up a "honeypot" to see what people would do:-]

i did in fact program the robots on my site to dance around, filmed it, documented it, shared the files. i don't really have fashion advice for anyone, i just document stuff i happen to like when i used to travel, i'm broke, in fact i'd kill to get to zero as opposed to in debt, so i don't think wealthy is an accurate term. i use "we" since it's the voice of the site. as far as getting a life...i'm willing to bet that i'm having a lot of fun and spending my time doing stuff i like as opposed to going out of my way to poke at someone:-] but i suppose that could be fun to some folks too.
so-- i had thought about that, but i need: a timestamp, a log and ways to document it. had i just wanted to find wifi then that might be okay, but i wanted to document the time, place, etc...in order to generate the maps.
actually, this watch is exactly that. the storage isn't limited, it'll track a few thousand miles and months of data, it's about $120 so it'll be hard to beat. plus it gets 15 hours of battery life.

i do not get paid to be a geek. i did not make a money tree as you suggested. i do, work a lot, often 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, to do what i want to do, technology and learning is important to me. i'd rather work on robots than eat, than watch tv, than go on vacation, than have kids- it's all about what is important and what you're willing to give up to do other things. i don't think an ipod, running shoes and a gps watch (about $100) is fantasy, most people who run spend way more than i do on lots of items. cheers, pt

i always wonder why folks feel the need to say "take a break, unplug, etc..". some have said "go cycle instead". it's great to choose, not sure what gene i am missing which would make me want someone else to do something other than what they enjoy.
in my case, i really enjoy listening to audiobooks while running, i have no desire to "escape" from technology- for some, certainly me, it's oxygen.

my mini has never skipped, i've used 2-3 ipods over the last couple years and if you wear them on your arm (that's what i do) i don't think they'll ever skip. i have worn them on my waist, while i've never had a skip on that either, i suspect that would be the way it might if you have a lot of jarring motion. cheers, ot. as far as the gps goes, the garmin forerunner 201 uses WAAS so that means it is accurate within 3 meters, i've found it to be one of the most accurate gps units i've used, and i currently use about 4/5. cheers, pt.
the ipod mini is on my arm (see site) and the wires are usually tucked in my shirt, it's never been a problem and the benefits of listening to audiobooks / science magazines have really helped me keep up the miles, i'm aiming for 5/6 miles a day during the week and some 10 mile runs on weekends, so far so good.

you turn on your hoover, turn it on and leave it in the middle of the room without touching it. i'll turn on my vaccuum and turn it on in the middle of the room, we'll see which one cleans the floor better:-]
i guess you could also hand scrub your clothes and they'd be cleaner, but i like my washer and dryer too.
aibos are a lot of fun to program, i don't have kids so a $400 ebay abio is way cheaper than a kiddo.
well, that roombacommunity site rocks, while i do enjoy my roomba, it's now going to be made in to a robot and do something else, i'm thinking a wifi-finder, we'll see. here are some pics and vid, next time i post pics, it'll be a franken-roomba. enjoy.
well, since it doesn't seem like an "off the shelf" segway will work with what they're doing. i'm going to make my own, most like with the combination of 2 rc devices one to turn the handle the other one to shift weight forward and back on the platform, making in autonomous will be tough, but that will be a fun puzzle once i can rc control it.
i'll post it up on the segway journal in the articles section, when i start.
yep, my wife and i use segways as opposed to cars get around for most of our trips. i use mine each day to get to and from work (1,000 miles total now) she uses her on the campus where she works and for errands when she's home. we still have one car, that is...until the bus folks let hts on for her commute and then maybe we'll go totally carless (so we can use that money to get a g5):-]
it works great, full screen and super-simple. msn 6 and ichat both do im, but msn is on version 6 with lots of features that many people need, or want while apple is starting out for the most part and many people don't need app sharing, white board, etc...it's pretty exciting. i use a mac and a pc so i've got the best of both.
