I would agree. However - you just fell in your trap by yourself. How do you know what exactly this guy have done?
But yes, the fact that anyone that claims to be a hacker automatically can be marked as an idiot, is probably one of cornerstones in "catching and fishing them all"
And regarding point nr. 3 - sure, why not. But this is the reason I have stepped back from numerous good open source products, since they become so bloated with ultraspecific features and hacks to the point where I wasn't able to use them comfortably.
Nothing beats a good management in software developement. The only problem, as it appears, that all of them now works for google;D
And the rest - for microsoft.
"People in charge" usually don't know a fuck about IT world and situation at large.
Especially true when there are decision between machine that costs xxx bucks and barely gets the work done (but gets) and comes with flashy marketspeak advertising campaign or 2x xxx bucks (but gets it done properly).
It would be just about the time when manifacturer could be sued for serious money for lying in advertising campaigns.
It would. My grandparent was on a gulag for 8 years and he is just angry about the fact that USA is currently abusing it's power just in the same way PSSR did.
Sorry. If you are a blind bush_believer and refuse to admit that your country could be the one that sucks now, I reccomend to go and read Machiavelly - Discourses.
Currently microsoft STRICLY restrics anyone even to think about other input means besides their controllers.
Sorry, no keyboards/mouses or whatever for you...
I DON'T want linux software, ease of use and user friendliness on my Mac box. God save me from this! (and take care of the Queen as well, please)
I WAN'T MacOS software, it's user friendliness, simplicity, consistency and excelent graphical core with all that eye candy on my x86 machine. Without a loss of speed.
Clear enough?
Please, oh please, don't ruin jet another excellent operating system.
I'm afraid you already are. I have experienced USSR and effects of cold war in it's full glory and now USA is very rapidly approaching just exactly the same state of things:
-- Stupid restrictions on anything. -- Access to innocent information closed due to concern. -- A lot of "Good" citizens that will gladly rip your head off as soon as you will do something "SUSPICIOUS" (like taking a photo of popular landmark) and even feel proud afterwards. -- More and more power to absurd authorities that are supposed to deal with threats, but instead just bullies innocent people. -- Government that considers that any mistake can be hidden by constantly advertising it as significant archievement or just hiding it. -- Media that dances by government commands and looses jobs if tells truth.
There is just one difference though - in USSR the power was, at least, with patriotic (ok, sarcastic, but true) individuals that had some principles. In USA the power is in hands of greedy corporations and megalomaniacal president. Everything else is the same, even including people that gets missing, unjustified and aticonstitutional raids or arrests and so on, so on...
My advice - start with the GUI. Replace that sick X11 stuff with something small, lean and simple and preferrably in kernelspace, remove all those useless UberApps and concetrate on finishing those that are promising and please stop hiding your inability to do anything behind claims that microsoft is killing you.
Otherwise the only winner here is MacOS X. And frankly, that suits me well.
With current state of things it is just enought for him to be connected to the broadband.
No corporate firewall protection or some laughtable pseidofirewall, reasonably fast connection and voila - we have another zombie. And microsoft releases patch the day after tomorrow.
This is not an abusing policy - this is totally acceptable and normal behaviour from any company everywhere.
We call it a greedy microsoft approach, because, let's admit it, everyone here somehow feels the urge to say that anything that microsoft does, but forgive Apple, because noone here, I suspect, don't wan't to see Apple going under the water again.
Right?
Try to GET ONE before it is too late. I had just the same story last night:
I decided that my trustworthy media server (pIII 733 w windows 2000 sp2) is no longer actual for me so I decided to "upgrade" (replace dual cpu pII 233 w/ nt4 he uses for web browsing. Those 5 scsi hdds are pretty noisy in a bedroom) brothers machine.
Since I don't have internet access at my flat (hey, home is where I should have a huge bed for chicks:D), machine was way behind latest updates - and naturally I know that and as soon as I am connected to internet (a matter of activating dhcp instead of local IP I was running before) rush to the windowsupdate.bigbadwold.outerworlds...
Good luck... messenger service popups, rpc restarts, svchosts.exe @ 100% cpu usage, interesting flashing on network card...
Everything can be slowly resolved, but the moment computer started to showing some concern and offer me some porno sites of his liking to relief my stress... I dumped this effort.
I will be revisiting the computer today with @guard, windows 2000 sp2 install cd, hdd with sp3&4, hotfixes, firebird, antivirus & latest bases, and I already know - it's going to be a pretty fucked up evening.
Internet is a dangerous place, kids...
Java addicts, flame me if you'd like, but I'd rather hear some intelligent reasons why anyone would choose to use a Java over other faster, cheaper, more stable systems.
Like VB, for example?
Ahh, I won't even try to explain that noone tries to use java GUI anymore, but take it away and suddenly you see damn stable, fast and maintainable language that is simple to code in as well. And, in my opinion, way more logical than VB.
" And even then, it's server-side Java, which is meaning less when you talk about it as a day-to-day dev language (ie; creating standalone client-side apps)."
As far as I understand ONLY field where Java can be used succesfully now IS THE server side. And believe me - there is way more ordinary programmers that happily crunch their daily duties creating xml/xsl/html/xhtml/whatever spitting JSP's or servlets than hardcore C++ GUI developers.
Of course this will probably change once Java will get something decent for graphics, maybe even Qt in native Java... Existing graphical layers are simply sickening to work with.
But for everything else - there is a nice, decently fast (and believe me - you DO NOT need those 16xCPU power5 grids or that 8.244012% difference in execution speed - when developing you always should be looking for simplest/easiest and most practical solution. At least in the main cases. It MAY be different if you are one of CuBase developers.).
look at the grammar too ;P
you are using CS classes as an argument to show of your skill?
Spectacular. We obey, o thy wise one!
I would agree. However - you just fell in your trap by yourself. How do you know what exactly this guy have done?

They already are unifying - see socket 939
Hey, make war is totally acceptable.
Especially if to be run by Tomcat
You know - there was once a time when I had to manually list trought my fidonet archives and there was no such thing as google yet.
And then there was the great and the powerfull - the altavista. And then there was hotBot.
Ahh. the history...

Good. Not all minds are lost jet. (altought I'm a flamebait already ;D)
You are way back there.
Basic linux installation (popular distributions) now requres much more than comparable windows XP installation - both CPUwise and memorywise.
As for "optimising" - yeah, ok, you can do that with XP too, after all...
And add sluggish user interface with inconsitent usability, incompatibility between applications on the same computer, etc, etc, etc...
(yes, it will be a flamebait again, I guess, but DON'T you see the shit linux promise is delivering? And why nobody cares?)

Got sis? (preferrably older than 15 ;D)

I sure did

Then finally do it for god's sake.

I'm afraid it's ongoing trend. People just used to be so much more tolerable when we all were younger...

SLI was Scan Line Interleave in times of 3dFX. Now it's Nvidia acronym ;D
