    You say this.

    But circa 1997, when my dad worked on Eglin Air Force Base, he threatened to call in an airstrike on a vendor. It went something like this:

    Vendor: "You get to wait, sorry, screw you contractor guys."

    Dad: "What does it take to get some service? Do I have to call in an airstrike on Memphis?"

    Vendor: -silence- "We'll get right on that."

    The phone call ends without incident.

    Three hours later, the building's Security guy wanders up to my dad's cube. "...did you just threaten to call in an airstrike on in Memphis?"

    Dad: "Um...possibly."

    Security: "Funny. Don't do it again."

    Most people, yeah. But the idea is that you can read articles, and edit and change things that you know about.

    I won't get into the whole "OMG LEECH!!" flames, because God knows I've read quite a bit withou contributing much, but there -is- some community contribution expected.

    Instead of money for Britannica, you're just asked to write a bit. Not tough, and not everyone has to. That's te way it is.

    First, middle initial; soundex of your last name, gender, date of birth.

    From my number, you can determine that I'm S. M. Mikhail, male, born October 19, 1983.

    Except I'm not, of course.

    C'mon. It's not hard. They're talking about using DNA for templates for PHYSICAL design. More like tracing DNA than anything else.

    Just ONE application happens to be data storage [any not quite in the way you think]. We're talking absurdly small chip design. Which is pretty damn cool, but something NO-ONE has commented on yet!
