I think the point was that their focus was to make it better. The did so by making it different, and whether or not it is actually better is up to the person, but the plan was to make it better.
Some parents warn their kids, some think it's funny. I know some parents in each camp and people who grew up with each. I promise it's not as traumatizing as people are trying to make this video out to be.
Oh come on... My parents did a lot worse things to me than scare me, and I turned out just fine. It's not like the kid was in an actual scary situation, he just had something jump out on a computer screen. I bet there are plenty of people whose parents had them watch scary movies as a kid. It's the same thing.
You know everything is normal when someone old enough to be your parent is nostalgic for your parents' god old days.
Wanna take any guesses as to the age of the author? I have my suspiscions. I'm 20, and am just now coming into the tech market, and I see nothing wrong with the way things currently are. Granted, they're different than they used to be, but not necessarily worse.
Austin. Fun city, but the people there annoy me. San Antonio is an awesome city too. I love the riverwalk, and the people there are really cool. I live in Dallas, and I love it to death.

I agree with you completely. The good, intelligent stuff is still there, you're just forced to dig more for it now. I've been reading/. for years myself, and know exactly what you mean. And I definitely agree with the Digg comment. That place pisses me off to no end.

Oh, come on. The fact that Arnold got electd in Cali should tell you something. He's California Republican, which about equates to Texas Democrat.
Also, I wouldn't recommend spending too much time making fun of Texas. We tend to get unhappy when people make fun of our state, and bad things tend to happen around unhappy Texans. Just a word of advice.
Hey, he only pretends to be Texan, thankyouverymuch. Yes, he was Governor of Texas, but that's a pretty much irrelevant job. The Lt. Governor actually has more power than the Governor down here.
Ross Perot would beat his ass. Now there's a real Texan.
In fact, if it was up to us, the Presidency would be decided by a good, old-fashioned fight. We'd throw all the candidates into a ring and tell them to have at, Grand Old Fight style. Arnold would be our next president, constitution be damned, just because he wouldn't allow anyone else who entered into the ring to live. It would either be him or no one.
Okay, I'm done now.
So it is a mindshare thing. Wish a decent marketing push, Microsoft could spin the increasing Firefox marketshare as a good thing. Not their style though, I guess.
I won't even get into the rest of your response.
Can anyone explain why MS cares wheter IE is the dominant browser or not? They don't get any money from the whole thing. What would MS lose if they just had Windows come with Firefox or Opera? Is this whole thing just a mindshare battle? If so, wouldn't it be more beneficial just to make Firefox or whatever part of the Windows suite of apps and make it to where people immediately associate that program with Windows? It seems like MS is wasting lots of money working on IE to no real gain.
Jeez man, paranoid much? You really think Microsoft could care less about most of these countries? They won't respect their court rulings, but they allow not just one, but multiple, back doors to be programmed in? And why would they do that? What is Microsoft getting out of the deal?
Or, they could not upgrade at all and save yet more money over Linux. A company like FedEx isn't going to get rid of their old POS machines just because the underlying OS isn't officially supported anymore. They're gonna use the things until the fall apart. As another poster said, I've seen quite a few POS machines still on Win 95 and going strong. Like the guy said: "good luck getting corporate to upgrade." Corporations like that don't upgrade until they're forced to.
So you're saying that no religions have changed in the last couple thousand years?
Look at the Catholic church 500 years ago, and look at it now, and then tell me religions can't change.
Just because there are hardheaded people who believe in religion doesn't mean you can generalize that to all religious people. There are also scientists who refuse to change their beliefs, that doesn't mean you should denounce science.

The HyperTransport replaced the FSB. The memory controller is on-die, so it effectively runs at the speed of the processor.

Pipes, tubes, same difference. The real important thing is that we have those lottery balls to clean them out after the pocker chips get stuck.
Well shit, we better get rid of countries and governments then.
