Of course, Sci-fi will cancel it when they see the low trailer hits...
Front page Slashdot. I don't think that will be an issue.

This would be a monumental example of the one of the reasons (brutal repression being another) why the present leadership in Arab countries is so detested by their own Muslim populations and others of that faith around the world
Maybe you need to do some more research before posting comments like this. The people in UAE absolutely adore their leaders. Dubai is a paradise on earth. Giant party town too. If you want a night of amazing eating and drinking, to pick up gorgeous women from all over the world then take them back to your lush room in a 7 (yes 7) star hotel, then Dubai is the place for you.
Not quite the place you assume it is.

It looks like they are ( have been? ) quite big fans of MySQL in the past. Netcraft shows that a couple of years ago ( 4th Aug 2002 ) that their webserver was running with Mod Auth MySQL.
So you expect them to rewrite their site with the winning technology everytime they do these awards? You, sir, have a seat waiting for you in upper management.
the question was whether people who actually work in demolition/weapons/forensics use this acronym, or whether it's just been made up (recently, in the current war) for people to use to sound important
It's nothing new. Common use in the military (pre 9/11)
"Lipscomb became involved in the project after receiving a call from Moore's company. Staffers had read a magazine article that mentioned her son's death. She met with Moore, a Davison native, at her house. "
In November 2003, there were 130,000 troops in Iraq. Fixing that number, 800 is.6 percent. So, using some shaky math, for every 1000 troops deployed to Iraq, 6 are killed. Using some more shaky math, that's about one death per 166 soldiers. Now, ignoring that more troops have been delpoyed since then, so the percentages are smaller, that's still freakishly good luck on his part.
My bet is that they started the interviews after her son had already been killed. They kept the interviews short enough for her to keep her composure.
If you have specific issues with the facts in this film them lets hear them.
I have an issue with the film. How does he happen to have so much good interview footage with a woman from his hometown whose son happened to die in Iraq... before he died. Did Moore interview a ton of people and just got ahem.. lucky, or were the earlier interviews staged after the fact?
He should have handled that differently. It makes me wonder what else in the movie was staged to meet his needs.
You see people using BS buzzwords constantly in the industry where money and marketing are everything, but why in F/OSS software? That just seems counterproductive.
As a developer creeping into marketing and management, let me tell you that "Open Source" has become a buzzword. Say "We developed this system using only Open Source Software", and the customers look around and nod their heads.
The article that Slashdot had the other day on the Navy's rail-gun. That seems pretty much out of video games if you ask me.
Inventions don't magically pop out of the air. The ideas are usually stewing for years. The game developers get their ideas from these ideas. They hear about these wacky concepts in college or whatever then toss them into their games. Because the real thing shows up later doesn't mean that the idea came from the game.
He's just whoring for some karma. Let the poor boy be. The mods eat up the "think of the children" posts and it keeps your head above water between trolls (ie. really speaking your mind)
Why not just hire some sap for minimum wage to tail "free thinkers". They can already do that, and it would be pretty cheap. Maybe they already do... muuuuhahahahah
There are many implementations of Java, for example (props to the one AC reply to the grandparent). Sun just doesn't want people implementating wacky versions (MS J++) and calling them Java.
And they are a LOT less expensive. You can build a SOTA machine for $2000. Only a moron buys these machines that have 2-3-4x markup on parts.
You can still find good deals on canned machines. I just bought a refurbished Dell for less that I had priced out for an equivalent home built. 1,300 for 17" flat panel, gig ram, 9800 pro, dvd burner, high end audigy, free shipping, blah, blah, blah. Plus, it's also a hell of alot quieter than my home built one would have been. Sure, I didn't have a choice on some of the gut components, but I never have trouble with Dell stuff, and I have the multi-year service plan anyway (included in the price).
Your views and the reactions to them present a good case for the argument that most people aren't qualified to vote. Both your posts are illogical emotional arguments derived from twisted and spun facts. Your opinion is your opinion, however, when a group of people mod your opinions so high, it shows that the moderators have little capacity for seeing the facts in an opinion. They are swayed by emotional rants instead of putting critical though to the issues. It shows that people, even when trusted with power, often show little capacity to fullfill their responsibilities.

And those damn cops should be catching terrorists instead of pulling over speeders.
Oh, and I assume you donate all of your disposable income and all of your free time to charity.
Sorry for feeding the trolls (we trolls need to stick together)

This was shown at Comic-COn on Friday and was available online as well.
Then why didn't you submit the link on Friday?

What is your criteria for failure? Most of company's products control majority of market share and leader is richest man in world?
What is success?

I think someone is trying to generate hits to their consulting firm's website.

I was on vacation recently, running around with the camcorder. Almost stopped to see a movie as a break. Glad I didn't....
On the other hand, Voyager, IMO, is the biggest peice of crap to ever become part of the trek genre.
