....are always the ones to solve the major problems
Proof? If a 45 year old college professor solved it, would this be news?
Kinda like the pessimist saying that he always gets stuck in the long lines. He just doesn't note the times he's in the short line. Actually not at all like that, but you get the point.
Firstly there is no sign of the Rangers of the North in the trailer even though there is a scene that obviously shows them entering the pass of the dead.
As a representative of the 95% of people who will see this movie that have not or will never read the books, who the hell are the Rangers of the North, what is the pass of the dead, and why are your firstly and secondly reasons that I will be dissapointed by this film?
Customer service has gone to shit, but starting tomorrow, companies will be forced to be accountable for how they treat the customer, the quality of service they provide, and the overall price of what they offer.
I also heard there will be world peace, no more hungry children, and SCO's corporate headquarters will burst into flames. I hope we aren't dissapointed...
Wouldn't we prefer to think that the people who can solve these problems will be the same people who wouldn't want money for it?
Skill != Morality
Just because some righteous programmer jumps on the open source bandwagon doesn't mean he's any good. Being the greedy bastard that I am, I prefer to use my skills for evil rather than good. That $2500 bounty ain't worth my time.
Stories show up on Fark much earlier. I only come here for my Microsoft news. New products (Longhorn,.NET), security flaws I should patch, etc... This is the best place on the web for up to date MS info.
Observers expect that the company will use Windows or the bundled Windows Media Player to gain a competitive advantage over other services that require a software download to use them.
So the existing Windows Media Player will magically work with this new system without any additional downloads?

Self esteem boost for the lazy. Some people do stuff, but most just bitch about the people who do stuff. You can tell when we live in a free and safe society when we make statememts such as this.
There are people around the world who fight for their lives on a daily basis and we live in such as fantasy land that we see conflicting business models as a life and death struggle.
I've been in college for a few years and I haven't seen a women since I stopped taking Gen. Ed. classes.
Same problem here. I used to think the sysadmins with the long hair and the boobs were women until I started dating one.
Wow. Talk about scarred for life.
It has to be said.
After years of learning to use only four neurons, today's game players can't even pickup the basics of the current crop of games...
Now here we have a classic examples of a "the common people are so stupid" post. Its a variation of the often seen bandwagon post. In this instance, a reader sees a condescending remark about the intelligence of the average person and thinks, "You know, he's right, the common people are so stupid. Sigh". The sense of belonging and increased self-esteem are defense mechanisms. The poster posting the message and the reader agreeing with it are exhibiting subconscious methods of bravery in an uncertain world. By creating an artificial bond of perceived intellectual superiority, all involved gain a temporary confidence.
It's a shame that there is no decent, centralized place on the net for intelligent discussion. It's one of the biggest losses to humanity in recent years.
go ahead and try to get a real Windows CD from Dell, I dare you
Every Dell machine I've ordered recently came with a real Windows CD, only the label was different. Also came with a driver/application disk that made reinstalling the OS and applications of my choosing a breeze.
Very nice.

I'm curious -- do you do development? Have you ever worked on a 2 million line program? No offense, but anyone who uses the word "merely" in a paragraph like that strikes me as someone with a tenuous grip on reality.
I think where people get thrown is that they see houses and cars and bridges and think, "If we can build those, why can't we build software? Programmers must be lazy"
Well, is every 2x4 in a house the exact same length? Are all the boards perfectly flush? A crooked door in a house will usually cause no problems, but the equivalent in a piece of software can cause a crash. Even computer hardware is never perfect. Does every 2.0 GHz processor run at EXACTLY 2.0 GHz? Not even close, but they are good enough. The problem with software is that it needs to be perfect to be perfect, and people aren't perfect. The beauty of the F-22 system is that the developers realize this, and they designed the system knowing there would be flaws and that the software would crash. When some of the software crashes, the jet keeps right on going, which is the sign of ultimate stability.
And most people are right. The first line of linux.org reads: "Linux is a free Unix-type operating system."
Quiet man!! Do you want everyone else to think you're one of those uneducated yokels!!
There's a geek frenzy in progress!! Just nod your head, say "Linux is a process" and add your favorite Microsoft/RIAA/SCO joke and slowly back away.

Why should anyone make it easier for YOU to get ahead? When I get rich, the last thing I want to do is give it to lazy whiners like you.
I was gonna post a comment, until I scrolled down on the reference page and clicked on the "rez + vibrator" link.
Funny, Star Wars MMORGP just doesn't seem as important to me at the moment...
Wow,
is this the first 'SCO' post with negative mods? Currently the parent score is:
50% Offtopic
50% Funny
Is this a turning point for SCO posts?!?
Will SCO continue to guarentee funny mods, or will it begin to generate offtopic, troll, and overrated?!? Stay tuned boys and girls for the next episode of Slashdot!
The Unified Process and Extreme Programming are more than buzz words. My point here is learn how to develop iteratively and incrementally, so that your first quick and dirty cut is on the path should the project continue. The key is to learn how to identify high risk items early, and learn what you can and cannot take shortcuts on.
