... these are common business practices.... I don't blame MS for playing the game the same as everyone else.
This is lik saying "I don't blame thieves for stealing money, because everybody wants to have more money." True, but not everybody steals. And not every company behaves like MS.
Microsoft is a company bent on ruling the world by crushing all competition. It's a monopoly. It's taken dirty tricks to a level raw and cruel, even in their own Monopoly lawsuit.
Ah, that's why. You're just too old for Nintendo. I'm only 31 and I enjoy playing on my Gamecube. With more fun games than I have time to play. I will probably buy a game or two for Christmas instead of a new console.
Resident Evil 4 got out earlier this year (at least here in Europe). So they already have a sequel coming out later this year?
So far, RE 4 has come out only on Gamecube. XBox and PS/2 versions are due end of this year. So I doubt the sequel comes out at the same time on XBox 360...
Did SEGA have first mover advantage with the Dreamcast?
Yes. But people wanted to wait for the incredibly fast Toy-Story-like-graphics-in-real-time-rendering PS 2. The same might happen to XBox 360. People will say: Yeah, it's nice, but Sony's PS 3 seems to be better, so I'll wait. Sony's hype-machine still beats Microsoft's.
They may see "DRM security features"
I can see the sales people in computer stores tell their customers that these security features make surfing the web and everything safe.
I know it will happen.
I think the internet definitely shouldn't be in the hands of a single government. While I think a multi-national non-profit organisation should be founded to control the internet, the UN might be the next-best choice.
how has Amazon used any of the patents offensively?... Amazon's actions should speak louder than the patents they hold.
I wish I could share your trust in Corporate America. IMHO these "obvious" patents are weapons that can be used against their competition. And, like all weapons, they will be used one day.
Napster did the same thing. Is this supposed to be new and interesting because it happened in Australia?
Yeah, I mean, one word: cangaroos. And those teddy-bear like creatures. And crocodiles. And this accent. Gives a hole new touch to the story, don't you think?
Stupid patents like that are the reason why I boycot amazon. I use ist to look for books or movies, I read the reviews, then I buy somewhere else. Sorry if anybody here works for Amazon. It's nothing personal.
So technically this router feature is the first in their history.
Well, my friend's PS 2 doesn't render games real-time in a quality like Toy Story.
While that wasn't a not a cut-back it was a huge exaggeration.
So probably PS 3 isn't fast as a super computer either.
Does this mean Nintendo is going to make a comeback into being relevant again?
They were always relevant. Their Gamecube is just kind of marginalized in the US market, which is not the hottest market for game consoles anyway.
And Sony's and Microsoft's hype tried to marginalize Nintendo. But we will see. Sony and MS promise, Nintendo delivers.

Learn to love the Big Brother.
if his "all" was a nearly complete yellow circle, some dots, and some ghosts, he was a pretty shallow guy.
Just like this Einstein guy who put his life into an equation consisting of only three letters.
I, being 32, have no interest at all in Nintendo
Ah, that's why. You're just too old for Nintendo. I'm only 31 and I enjoy playing on my Gamecube. With more fun games than I have time to play. I will probably buy a game or two for Christmas instead of a new console.
One thing is for sure: It's time to start gearing up for an expensive Christmas.
Or wait a few months and get a Nintendo Revolution. Which should be cheaper.
gestures suck balls.
that's the place where only the old people use e-mail.
And now we know why: it's because younger people would never notice when an email arrives because they're too busy playing StarCraft.

RE4 is set in an anonymous Spanish speaking country
Uh... the country's name is Spain. I think it's in Europe.
But you're right, RE rocks.
Wow, XBox 360 will get a FPS!
That's so exciting! I have to run to the shop and preorder one of those!
Stay tuned as more advert... uh, news emerge.
Don't miss the next episode here on Slashdot: Read the gruesome story of HR-1, HR-2's evil twin, and their inventor's terrible fate.
Mice, keyboards and joysticks aside MS aren't a hardware company.
XBox? XBox 360?
And my guess is they want more hardware, as there is not so much competition from open source on the hardware side...

I'd think brutal violence would be worth a higher rating than a little sex scene...
Well... welcome to America.
Remember what the MPAA says: horrific, deplorable violence is okay, as long as people don't say any naughty words!
(from South Park, of course)
Hands up! How many read "Peter Jamieson, head of the British Pornographic Industry"
I'd give you "insightful" mod-points if I had any.
The whole thing looks like an iPod.
Which is, of course, a huge improvement to the old XBox.
Still, I like the Gamecube's simple, functional yet friendly design better.
Is it April Fool's Day or does July 12th serve this purpose on the east coast?
So technically this router feature is the first in their history.

EQ doesn't have players anymore, what are the servers for?
To keep the NPCs alive?
