I found something VERY interesting. It looks like UHG's Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer came out in support of Obama for President. Now by UHG's own ethics and integrity rules he had to make the disclaimer that his views were his and not of the company (which he did not do) - unless the company had requested and approved it. So if UHG requested and approved of his endorsement, that must mean UHG endorses Obama. Now UHG is a FOR profit health care company and Obama is for semi-Universal Health Care. So why would a for profit company "endorse" a political candidate that is pro semi-universal health care? More than likely they are not endorsing him - unless they plan on Obama driving business towards them. So then this must mean that Strickland -didn't- have the approval of the company - which means he violated the company's ethics and integrity rules. He may also be violating the company's policy on "Former government employees". (See my references below)
Bill Richardson's Colorado supporters are moving in different directions, as former Senate candidate and U.S. Attorney Tom Strickland announced his support for Barack Obama's presidential bid this afternoon. Here are the details: "I am very excited to be supporting Senator Barack Obama for President," said Strickland in a release. "Barack Obama's record of change is something that Americans can believe in."

Currently I am supportive of Barack Obama, because whether or not you like him you hve to admit his speeches are nothing short of inspiring. However the more I read into Obama's positions and his voting records the more I see how Anti-Constitution he is, and how inconsitant he really is. Example: 1) He spoke out against the Iraq war and voted against it. (Good for him!) 2) He originally voted against the Patriot Act, then later voted for re-authorizing it. His statement was "Let me be clear: this compromise is not as good as the Senate version of the bill, nor is it as good as the SAFE Act that I have cosponsored. I suspect the vast majority of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle feel the same way. But, it's still better than what the House originally proposed. This compromise does modestly improve the PATRIOT Act by strengthening civil liberties protections without sacrificing the tools that law enforcement needs to keep us safe." --February 16, 2006 Source. Note: He was admit against the Iraq war bill and voted against it depsite it getting passed. But when it came to the Patriot Act he changed his mind and supported it. This is anti 4th amendment (The Patriot Act took away our 4th amendment rights and expands taking away our civil liberties).
3) He is Pro-Gun Control (anti 2nd Amendment)
So right now 2 out of 3 is bad news!
Obama's social policies are pretty good I must admit - although I'm still not sure 100% on all of them.
Ron Paul on the otehr hand: 1) Voted against the Iraq War (Good for him!) 2) Voted against and is against the Patriot Act. (Good for him!) 3) Is anti-gun control (Good for him!)
Hey 3 out of 3!
Paul's social policies - yes leave a little to be desired.
In all I think I would rather have a candidate that is more pro-constituion than pro-social issues. This country needs to get back to to a solid foundation, one that this country was built on. The current administration and the last 2 congresses have put huge holes in our countries foundation and it's crumbeling out from under us. It's the fault of BOTH Republicans AND Democrats - they both have gone out of their way to destroy this country for their own benefit! If Obama truly taught constitutional law he should darn well know some of his policy's and voting record VIOLATE what he taught. I don't know if I can support someone like that.
IE6 has fallen behind Firefox in browser share and IE7 is behind as well - at least by W3 stats.
IF M$ forces everyone to IE7 it will combine the two IE stats and make it the #1 browser by share again. But if you look at the trend Firefox is growing at a steady pace every year. By doing the force upgrade more IE users may say "enough" and take another look at downloading and installing Firefox. The way to tell that would be if the IE share drops drastically and the Firefox share jumps drastically. I'm kind of hoping this happens. If might mean a huge defiance against M$'s monopolistiic ways.
Hey in the age of "at will" employment they shouldn't be bitching! They want to pay employee's as little as possible, and when they can't pay U.S. employees peanuts they outsource to India. I don't see them bitching when they lay people off - so they shouldn't be bitching now that people will leave on a dime for better pay, benefits and working conditions. Face it there is no loyalty in business - business isn't loyal to you so why should you be loyal to them. It's business - you go in, you work your hours they pay you, you go home - period! They aren't paying us for loyalty as they don't show us any loyalty. If they don't like that situation - then they need to show US some loyalty. Like, pay fair wages, decent benefits and working conditions and quit outsourcing our jobs as soon as they see they can say $.02/hour.
How do you think Micro$oft got their domanence to begin with? They turned a "blind eye" to piracy of the early versions of Windows so OS/2 would get knocked out of the playing field. Guess what the gamble worked then and I'm sure it will work now. They are seeing no one in their right mind wants Vista - so they now want to again turn a "blind eye" to piracy of Windows to -try- to get more Vista installations. Problem is the majority of people are just happy with XP. What would break MIcro$oft is if the game manufactures said screw Vista and kept programming the games to work fine under XP. Then pretty much there would be no desperate need to upgrade to Vista - leaving virtually dead - just like Micro$oft BOB and Windows ME. All the gamers out there should be contacting the game companies and tell them they don't want Vista games - stick with XP compatable games.
Nice! Take away the cubes and just give us a chair in an open room while they get their nice big cushy offices with DOORS and WINDOWS! If they want to get rid of "the office" then just give everyone a laptop and pay part of their internet service costs and provide us a phone line and let us work from home. It would save them tons of money, and us too.
If they would say pay half of internet charges (so we could VPN in) say $25-30/month then pay for an additional phone line (for work use only of course) - about what $40/month. Then provide us with a laptop - what about $2,000 one time fee. Their monthly cost would be somewhere around between$65-70/month. How much would they be saving a month though - MUCH MORE. Think about the costs they DON'T have to put out - cost of cubicles, less office space rental, less electricity usage (power used in cubes, lighting, refrigerators, microwaves etc..), savings on water costs (toilets, sinks using water),
For us it would save us lots of money on gas, maintenance on our vehicles we could sleep a little later as we wouldn't have to get up so early for the long commutes. Oh don't forget we wouldn't have to be around all the STUPID office politics all day long. We could listen to music as loud as we want without worring about bothering our "cube" neighbors.
Of course all of this means they could more easily outsource us - not like that isn't their "master plan" any friggen way - "Global Econmy" which really means "sell out the U.S." so corporations can get rich off the middle - lower class.
"One CAS junior went even further, writing that "anyone who'd sell his lifelong right to vote should be deported.""
F'ing AMEN to that!
My family fought in the Revolutionary war, war of 1812, civl war, and every major war this country has fought. My step-father, my brother and I all served in Operatin Desert Storm. Damit my whole family has fought for the right to vote and it's not for sale!
The problem is the U.S. Government is bought and paid for by big corporations! Someone who wants to -REALLY- change things -can't- get elected. So technically your vote -really- doesn't count - which is a very sad thing.
I think EVERY one that is reading this should be out yelling from roof tops that we need to vote EVERY SINGLE incumbant OUT! They are -ALL- crooks! From Bush to Ron Paul. You can't trust -any- of them.
Take the time to read about how/why our government was formed, understand the real concept of why our government was -ORIGINALLY- founded the way it was. It was originally meant for an average person to go into public service/office for the specific term, work -FOR- the people and in the -BEST INTEREST- of the people. Then when your term was over you went back to your "civilian" life again and let someone else take their turn. It was never meant to be a FRIGGEN career for your whole FRIGGEN life! And it sure as hell wasn't meant to be a wholesale rubber stamp for corporations!
For the folks that are from the U.S. start taking back our government before it's too late, it may already be past that point - who knows. But start telling EVERYONE you know and meet - give them facts - facts about the corruption of our WHOLE government. Tell them we need to as a whole vote against -ALL- incumbants! Send them a STRONG message that we won't put up with their CRAP anymore! The democrats were heavily voted into power in congress but what have they done? a BIG FAT FRIGGEN ZERO! Nothing, Nada. They are as worthless as the republicans. If it was time for a third party to rise up and take power - NOW is the time. I don't care WHO you vote for, but if it's a democrat or republican your voting for more of the same crap!
Think long and hard my friends before you cast your vote... Do you want more of the same or do you want REAL change. And if your considering "selling your vote" - well... F@#$ OFF! and move to China! We don't F@#$ing want you here you worthless bastard!
My family owns an original Nintendo NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo64, Nintendo Gamecube, and a Nintendo Gameboy Advanced. We are a Nintendo specific game family. We have purchased litterly hundreds of ORIGINAL cartridges and CD's for these systems that totals up to A LOT of money spent. I was able to get ahold of a Super Wildcard for my super nintendo a few years back and yes I did backup ALL my cartridges for my Super Nintendo and I am glad I did. I now have two that won't work anymore becuase the contacts on the cartridge are so worn. Even cleaning them didn't help. Do you know how HARD it is to find OLD nintendo cartridges to replace them? Even GameStop is slowly phasing out nintendo stuff to put in more XCrock shit! I don't own an XBox, I WON'T own an XBox. I'm starting to think Microsoft bought up GameStop too. At least I can still play my LEGALLY purchased Super Nintendo games on ZNes on the PC in Linux. At this rate I don't know if I will buy a Wii. Anyone know of a legit place that won't rip you off to purchase backup devices for the old nintendo NES, nintendo64's and gamecubes. I have one gamecube Cd that is starting to have problems now too! I want to be able to LEGALLY backup my games damit! Fuck the RIAA, MPAA, Nintedo et al.. If I won't be allowed to backup up my LEGALLY purchased stuff I won't be doing anymore purchasing. It will save me a lot of money at least and less in the pockets of the media outlets that seem to think it is their god given right to get my money!
My thought is that the game console makers should produce their own game backup units that would allow you to legally backup your games. Even if it put like a serial number into the backup of the game so it could be traced back to the original owner if they decided to "pirate" them. This I think would protect BOTH the consumer and the media outlets rights. The consumer could legally backup his legally purchased media and if they gave out a copy to someone else and the meida outlet found a copy floating around they could trace it back to whoomever gave it out and prosecute them. Simple I think.
At least I have my old Amiga 2000 system and all the tons of games I bought for it. Oh that's right I am glad I made backup copies of those too so I could play them on UAE under Linux on my PC, since my Amiga 2000 floppy drive died and try to get a replacement for one of those!
Starting to see the LEGITIMATE need for backup software/devices??????
All the people can do is vote at elections, which makes us powerless when the people we voted for wont do anything.
This is why we -at least- still have the 2nd Amendment. If need be we can take back our government by FORCE if necessary.
The next election just DO NOT vote for any incumbant - simple. Vote Third Party down the line. If people just quit voting for the corrupt ass Republicans and Democrats we just might have a chance. The two parties are basically the same thing - just different names. Our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves right now.
And everything you just described about "public servants" is not like the United States how? Sounds like the U.S. and Brazil have the same government officials...
It looks like IPInnovate is using a net block company that is USING Red Hat and Fedora to Run Apache 2.0 using mod_ssl and openssl. Hmm They are suing Red Hat but they use a company that uses a product from the company they are suing..... Sounds like a conflict of interest to me. Netblock owner LNH INC.
The U.S. Government has a history of testing on U.S. Citizens. In fact by LAW they can it is part of United States Code - Title 50 - War And National Defense - Chapter 32 - Chemical And Biological Warefare Program.
If you look there is even more showing this kind of secret testing has been going on for a looong time. See More
These "insects" are also just another way for the government to ssecretly spy on you, warentless wiretaps wasn't enough. With these things they could "fly" them into your house and see and hear what your are doing/saying while -not- on the phone. Think the government wouldn't do that? What about all the "secret" wiretaps of U.S. Citizens by the NSA - which by the way ins illigal in itself.
From TFA - if you notice in the base pay by region chart - base pay gets higher in the areas where the cost of living is higher. So you can't really say you do better working in a region that has higher base sallary and higher raises. They need them that high to live in those areas. I live in the North Midwest area and am doing Ok at about $85K/year. Would I like to make more - heck yes who wouldn't. But when your company is working on outsourcing everything to India because they can pay them "$27/hr versus $58/hr" it gets tough to push for more $$ and a higher raise. I wish I was making $58/hr! I guess if I wanted to move to New York I could. But I don't want to move around anymore just to make a better living - I LOVE the area I live in now. If something was done about our cost of living (lowering it) then someone making $75k a year or more would be -really- well off in IT. If the cost of living could be cut by 1/4 would I take a job with a %25 pay cut - yes because it would even itself out.
We in IT just really have to be careful because if we get too greedy corporations will (and are) outsourcing our jobs overseas. Heck look at how much manufacturing and call center work has and is been shipped overseas for cheaper labor. They will keep doing the same with us if we are not careful.
Seriously though, you point out that 'in this day and age' there is no loyalty on either side. I'd say that's partially a reflection of the unwillingness of workers to ask for (demand?) what they're worth. Labor is a business transaction, you shouldn't hate your business partners or let them treat you 'unfairly'. Get a good idea if what you should be paid, ask for it, and leave if you don't get it.
You know where workers are getting it from? They just look at the executives of the companies and see them getting paid BIG bucks - way more than they probably should. And see them stealing peoples money (Enron, Worldcom etc...) and bascially getting away with it. How many executives are doing it and NOT getting caught? Probably A lot more than you think! So if the executives are doing it why shouldn't the employees - think about it. You have the RIAA/MPAA stealing from "artists" and US the people who actually buy their crap!
Think about it we have a double standard. The big rich executives get paid WAY too much steal from others and it's ok. But it's not ok for use to get paid well for our hard work and it's not ok for us to steal from them. Companies would rather outsource to some other country whos workers are willing to work for dimes on the dollar than to pay people decently. To me let those FUCKING companies move their business overseas, take the jobs with them and then let the rest of the U.S. QUIT using their products and services. Some other company will just come up and take their place. Maybe learning from the previous companies mistakes.
If the cost of living in the U.S. wasn't so high I bet people wouldn't need such higher salaries. What is the cost of living in India? A LOT lower than it is here, hence they can get away with needing less pay. Corporations don't get this AT ALL. If they would help bring the cost of living DOWN in the U.S. I would bet people would be willing to work for less. how can we compete in a "GLobal Economy" if everywhere companies are sending jobs has far lower costs of living than we do.
But I think corporate EXECUTIVES need to get a pay cut! NO! they would rather "lay off" hundreds or thousands of employees just so they can keep their cushy job, getting paid millions of dollars and getting millions of dollars in stock options. That's utter CRAP! They say "oh we need to pay them well to keep them." BULLSHIT! If you get rid of one executive there is ALWAYS another wiating in line for his job! MBA's are a DIME A FUCKING DOZEN! Engineers are NOT! If anything Engineers and scientist should be making more than MBA exeuctives!
As for you comment about too many choices, give Joe SixPack default options and recommendations. Or hell, let him go into the store and ask what he should get for his computer. If he's not smart enough to know what his computer should do, then why is he customizing a computer?
MICROSOFT UNVEILS NEW JOE-BOB(tm) SOFTWARE
by Andrew Burke (ABurke@eworld.com)
REDMOND, Wash. -- April 10, 1995 -- Microsoft today announced the release of Joe-Bob(tm), a new software package that the company hopes will open up a huge untapped computer market. With the motto "The software for the rest of y'all(tm)," Joe-Bob reaches out to the same demographic group that buys 4x4s, supports the gun lobby, and drinks Miller Lite.
"Computers have been commonly seen as for leftists and intellectuals," explains Microsoft spokesperson Willy Maclean, "but we've recently seen people like Newt Gingrinch embracing new technology
-- the time is right for the rest of America to get wired!"
Instead of a desktop or office metaphor, Joe-Bob(tm) puts the user in a garage. "Click on the Lynyrd Skynyrd tapes, and get a complete music library in digital stereo. Click on the pinups, and get hooked up to the Internet's hottest gifs," the promotional materials explain.
The package does not include a word processor or spreadsheet, but does have software that keeps track of the football season, lists the best roadhouses between Florida and Nevada, and can even order spareribs and beer at the click of a mouse.
"This is righteous software, man," says beta-tester Billy Grugg. "It thinks like I think." Brad Cunningham agrees: "I take it everywhere," he says, pointing to a Pentium laptop racked under his 12-gauge in his pickup truck. Microsoft is offering desktop users a special clip-on beer holder for their monitors.
"Look at what's popular out there," says Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates.
"Four of the top-10 Usenet newsgroups are about sex, and splatter video games like Doom and Mortal Kombat are bestsellers. We're just catering to a demand, that's all."
Microsoft is reportedly distributing badges and bumper stickers saying things like "Joe-Bob: Make Your Disk Hard," "Go Microsoft -- Go Intel -- Go America," and "QuickTime is for Pinko Hippie Wimps."
About 10 years ago my wife and I moved from a beach area in California to North Central Arizona
I know I'll probably get scored as "Troll" or what not but... Sorry if this is a tad on the nasty side but you never hear about the things that happen to those "low cost of living" areas in the US when the Californian and Texas move in.
Sounds like all the people from California that moved to Show Low, AZ - that place is a Shit hole now! I have gone back to visit my parents and friends on and off and am sickened as to how the developers have screwed up that town! It was a nice area back in the 80's early 90's but now it's an overcrowded dungpile. All the people from California and Texas came in bought up ALL the open forest land and tore down all the trees and covered the green pastures with cement! They even have taken over the lake that USED to be free to use and now have made it an "exclusive" lake - paid members ONLY. It's not the town I went to school in anymore. I feel sorry for my friends and family... I moved to another smaller size town (~ 40,000 people), but I didn't walk in thinking I owned the place, buy up a ton of open land and screw it up!
Only one thing to say to those people!
"Now that you've seen Arizona, go back to California - and take the Texan with you!"
There's no single database -- yet -- where you can sit down, CSI-style, and bring up any citizen's dossier. Your local police department knows your name, address, and how many parking tickets you've gotten this year, but they don't have access to your tax information from the IRS. (And the IRS is actually pretty snarky about not sharing information casually;
the key word is YET this is what the RealID act is about to be able to put all this stuff in one central database that all govermental law enforcement and "spy" agencies including DHS can get at as well as it being shared with Mexico and Canada. Think about how scary THAT is. Everyone knows how corrupt the Mexican governemnt is, think how easy it will now be for Illigal Mexicans to steal your identity and come to the USA. They just pay some corrupt politician, policeman etc.. and get someones personal information -including- a copy of a birth certificate out of that database! They now are you.
If that doesn't scare the hell out of you - you can't be scared.
Your kidding right? Yor vote means exactly D!CK in the US anymore. I've been voting for 23 years straight and still haven't seen my vote do a damn bit of good. And I refuse to vote Democrat or Republican there is NO difference between those two Nazi/Communist parties. Yes as a matter of fact I do write my congressmen but the general reply is "thank you for your letter and I'll take your comments under consideration." They only thing they listen to is how big a check they get. If your not sending them a big fat check your words are not listend to. You can't get enough people in this country p!$$ed off enough to en-mass vote out EVERY SINGLE one of the Jerk offs in office. I'm talking about wiping the board and starting with a clean slate. That is the ONLY way you will get any kind of chnage. Quit letting Corporations and the mafia keep the same jokers in office. As long as we -still- have teh 2nd amendment we at least have ONE way to take our government and country back. Oh wait your average American is to FAT and LAZY to get off they DEAD @$$ to care! They like being a sheep and/or lemming. I think the only ones that may be up to the job are the Militia's and Rednecks (no offense). How many of the Slashdot crowd in the US own their own firearms and would have the b@ll$ to use them if need be? There is one here, my family fought in every war this country has fought to include the Revolutionary and Civil war so I have no problem stepping up. Do you?????
AMEN! Democrats AND Republicans only live to serve corporations NOT WE THE PEOPLE!

"One CAS junior went even further, writing that "anyone who'd sell his lifelong right to vote should be deported.""
... F@#$ OFF! and move to China! We don't F@#$ing want you here you worthless bastard!
And if your considering "selling your vote" - well
at Balmer! Blamer didn't apprieciate it so they "threw" him out.
Secret Military Experimentation on Americans Was "Legal"
BIOLOGICAL AND CHEMICAL TESTING ON HUMAN BEINGS
HISTORY OF SECRET EXPERIMENTATION ON UNITED STATES CITIZENS
If you look there is even more showing this kind of secret testing has been going on for a looong time.
-- April 10, 1995 -- Microsoft today announced the
release of Joe-Bob(tm), a new software package that the company hopes
will open up a huge untapped computer market. With the motto "The
software for the rest of y'all(tm)," Joe-Bob reaches out to the same
demographic group that buys 4x4s, supports the gun lobby, and drinks
Miller Lite.
"Computers have been commonly seen as for leftists and
intellectuals," explains Microsoft spokesperson Willy Maclean, "but
we've recently seen people like Newt Gingrinch embracing new technology
-- the time is right for the rest of America to get wired!"
Instead of a desktop or office metaphor, Joe-Bob(tm) puts the user
in a garage. "Click on the Lynyrd Skynyrd tapes, and get a complete
music library in digital stereo. Click on the pinups, and get hooked up
to the Internet's hottest gifs," the promotional materials explain.
The package does not include a word processor or spreadsheet, but
does have software that keeps track of the football season, lists the
best roadhouses between Florida and Nevada, and can even order
spareribs and beer at the click of a mouse.
"This is righteous software, man," says beta-tester Billy Grugg.
"It thinks like I think." Brad Cunningham agrees: "I take it
everywhere," he says, pointing to a Pentium laptop racked under his
12-gauge in his pickup truck. Microsoft is offering desktop users a
special clip-on beer holder for their monitors.
"Look at what's popular out there," says Microsoft Chairman Bill
Gates.
"Four of the top-10 Usenet newsgroups are about sex, and splatter
video games like Doom and Mortal Kombat are bestsellers. We're just
catering to a demand, that's all."
Microsoft is reportedly distributing badges and bumper stickers
saying things like "Joe-Bob: Make Your Disk Hard," "Go Microsoft -- Go
Intel -- Go America," and "QuickTime is for Pinko Hippie Wimps."
Apple declined to comment.
There's no single database -- yet -- where you can sit down, CSI-style, and bring up any citizen's dossier. Your local police department knows your name, address, and how many parking tickets you've gotten this year, but they don't have access to your tax information from the IRS. (And the IRS is actually pretty snarky about not sharing information casually;
the key word is YET this is what the RealID act is about to be able to put all this stuff in one central database that all govermental law enforcement and "spy" agencies including DHS can get at as well as it being shared with Mexico and Canada.
And I refuse to vote Democrat or Republican there is NO difference between those two Nazi /Communist parties. Do you?????
