Slashdot isnt a magazine, I think we can come up with some inteligent conversation without mentioning Microsoft and our opinions on it. This is a Linux story about a problem with Linix Distro's lets talk about Linux Distro's, if we are gonna bash Microsoft I think i should let everyone know how much i hate Mushrooms, they are just so nasty!
Star Wars IMAX would be slashdotting amazing! I dont have time to read the article so I dont know if this is IMAX or some new 3d kinda thing but if its better then IMAX you people need to stop bitching and begin your digital orgasms now!
The point im trying to make here is its a Windows problem leave Linux out of it, and if its a Linux problem leave Windows out, and the same goes for other OS's. There is no point Microsoft bashing about this article.
Its funny, i come to check the news at/. and I see an article about a Linux vulnerability so I check the comments and what do I see? Microsoft bashing! YAY! Instead of inteligent posts about Linux people still somehow cant stop talking about MS. Guess what, Linux isnt perfect and neither is Windows just get over it!
I got started with computers pretty much because of VB. If it wasnt for my strange need to make aol "progs" (addons) then i would never have picked up VB. If i never picked up VB i would never have learned HTML, or PHP. Chances are i wouldnt be all that into hardware modification either. So maybe it doesnt have a huge use in the consumer market but for me it was a great learning tool. Hell i still use it to make quick apps that do tedious tasks for me.
What if Microsoft delivers a better browser and a more secure browser then their opensource counterparts? What then? Will you switch to IE as you did Mozilla and Firefox, or will you cry wolf and use the old standby "Microsoft is evil!" comment?
Does this look like Wing Commander in 2005 with lightsabers to anyone? The acting is just...superb! They made the same mistake Lucas has been accused of. Hiding bad acting with pretty effects.
Who really cares about this? Honestly let them mess with the search results. Dumb people shouldnt be allowed on the internet anyways and im sure after 2 seconds any average joe will figure out the wiki isnt online poker...this is being made into to big an issue.
We all know Microsoft's buisness practices are evil but honestlu without them would we even be on the internet in the same way we are? Would we be able to email our aging parents and acually have them respond without calling us and asking how every time they do it? True Windows has its issues...some quite large but without it where would Linux be? Would it even exist? Cause whether you want to admit it or not they have done many great things for us, and they continue to inovate and I dont care what anyone says, no company in the world could do what they do better.
About a year or two ago I was checking for utility programs to install on my new PC, I came across a fairly known companys website i cant recall who it was or what the software was though. Anyways I went to the page where you can buy then download the software. I clicked the submit link without filling in any billing info...in fact i left every field blank. 10 seconds after hitting submit the software started to download. So, like any GOOD netizen would do i found the contact email address and promptly notified them of this potentialy buisness killing flaw in their software, 3 days later it was fixed, 2 weeks later I got an email from the company thanking me for notifying them instead of exploting the silly hole and now they give me a copy of every program they make..now if only i could find that outlook backup file that contains who they were I would be all set.
The reason no Star Trek show has really done well in the last few years is because of Star Trek Next Generation. I mean for what it was, it was well acted, well written, it had good special effects for its time, it was fresh and the storylines were interesting. The only way to bring back a series like Star Trek is to take a nice loooong hiatus, maybe 10 or more years. Everything after Next Generation has pretty much been a copy of it, except for Enterprise which was just a step back and it wasnt all that interesting.
I dont want any software i cant remove 100% without it coming back and no more then a few clicks to remove it.
I dont want software that tracks what websites i visit, or files i download, whether anonymous or not.
I dont want software that can read my cookies, email, keystrokes, or any of my data whether it reports it or not.
I dont want software sneaking onto my system, whether its concealed in a 1000 page EULA or not unless i say specificly install this it doesnt belong on my pc.
I dont want ant software that can edit any data and transmit data over a network without my permission
I consider that spyware/malware, if your software does this stuff it shouldnt be allowed to exist. Unless the user is informed upfront on what it is, what it does, what it modifys, reads, sends, and how to uninstall it in big bold letters.
We can only hope this guy isnt TRULY evil, since before he was being paid to spy, and now he's being paid to find ways to stop spies?
The problem is, once a corporate guy always a corporate guy, always looking for the next buck.
I had that 3d card, i bought it for Quake 2 and it ran great, a month later Unreal came out and it ran like shit...it was 4 years until i acually played Unreal and that was on a totally new pc with a Geforce 3. Never again will i let myself get so behind the times in gaming on PC.
So what was my excuse? Well i was only 16, so I couldnt afford anything new and my parents just didnt "get it"
Why remove this? Who cares? I use WMP for my video files, powerdvd for my dvd's and vcd's and itunes for my music. I know people say oh you need to look at alternatives yadda yadda, and I have. I always come back to WMP for my basic video files. Its stable, easy to use, looks decent, and has never given me a problem.
Some guy on the moon spun around with the camera to take this perfect 360 shot just in case someday in the future we could look at it in quicktime...omfg conspiracy!
If there was oil it wouldnt take 7 years...hell i dont think it would take 7 days. Think about it, Oil+Bush+nobody to kill=quick easy profit, 3 days tops.
Yes it is, so you have to wonder what kinda tricks they have built into the system that they could enabled to do all sorts of crazy stuff to non ally millitary receivers.

I saw James Camerons Aliens of the Deep, the technology is just to cool to not be in every theatre.

Why do they think copy protection will make people adopt new standards faster...lets think.
Ok i can download something on the net and watch it on one of those new "device name here" maybe i should go buy one. Or....
Hmmm This thing is locked up tighter then Bush's sense of moral duty maybe i should skip it and buy something that has the user in mind.
They will find a way to strip the fingerprint just like they did the drm from itunes music.
