  1. Re:Xbox on More Cell Processor Details And First Pictures · · Score: 1

Doubtfull since im sure IBM did most of the hardware work themselves. Its 3 companies, if anything happens it will need majority aproval...i would assume, in that case IBM, MS, and Toshiba all have "good" buisness relationships at the moment, and having MS on board would only benefit IBM and Toshiba with adoption time. More companies who license the tech=more money and no matter how big Sony's grudge may grow it wont out vote the other 2

Before everyone starts having digital orgasms over this chip we should take a sit back and watch approach. This all sounds amazing on paper as did PS2 and look how that turned out in terms of hardware power.

We have no idea if developers will be able to easily adapt and get any real performance out of this thing above and beyond what they get from CPU's now. Almost nobody uses the vector units in PS2, who says they will start now? In terms of just gaming I wanna see some games and examples of this thing running in real time before i start taking my wallet out of my pocket, Sony burned me last time with underpowered bug ridden hardware, ill be damned if i let them do it again.

Dont forget Sony CANT block MS from using Cell in Xbox 2, all IBM has to do is change the layout and sell it to MS and you now have 2 consoles with Cell chipsets in them. We already know Xbox is using a Power based CPU, we just dont know why...and Cell is Power based.

Im on your side with this one, I've recently had many sony products break on me with zero abuse, the main offender is PS2.

I've had 4 PS2's since launch, all of which had some sort of common fault with them from scratching disks, making funny noises, or getting the dreaded DDE. I've babied these things from day 1 and they all managed to die on me, im glad i had a ESA from EB cause if I didnt i woulda been screwed.
On the other hand my launch Xbox and Gamecube both still work perfectly and so does my Dreamcast, take best of all I've dropped said Dreamcast down a flight of stairs...go Sega.

G4 needs to fire EVERYONE who is in uppermanagment and hire some gamers who know what they are talking about for the jobs.

Now this isnt really a matter of piracy for me, i have no problem with people downloading games, pirating whatever they want so long as i dont get in trouble for it...the point was the guys selling these things are ripping people off. What is cost on one of these $5 at most? How high quality can they be...some guy downloads some roms, an emulator, puts then on a chip, solders it into a controller, little code here and there and its ready to be mass produced by 30 kids in some rat infested basement...yea here is some money to keep that operation afloat How long will these things last? Are they as durable as a Nintendo product? Of course not, they will probably break after a month or so, and as we all know right after the Holiday seasons these kiosks will disapear and a shitload of people will have broken units with no way to get a repair or replacement...
