Maybe you're too young, but there were times when you could buy a game once and then play it with your friends. As in, for example, only the original copy could host a game, but copies of it could join that session. Sometimes a limited amount of copies
I remember:
, Joint Strike Fighter - Innerloop
, Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit - Electronic Arts
, Diablo - Blizzard Entertainment
, StarCraft - Blizzard Entertainment
, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans - Blizzard Entertainment
, Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness
, Earth 2150 - Reality Pump
, Total Annihilation - Cavedog Entertainment
, Disciples: Sacred Lands - Strategy First
, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars - id Software
, Halo Custom Edition - Bungie
, Dr. Mario Online Rx - Nintendo
, Age of Empires - Microsoft
Why would HP do this? As you say you get a new drum every time you replace the toner.
They do have a head start in crap drivers though, between the new universial drivers and registering to recycle empty toners I have stopped buying new HP printers but I don't expect to have replaced all our existing ones before I retire as the work group ones last for ever.
I am sorry I see this argument all the time here and my response is all ways the same. Who cares I can buy 4 Gig of RAM for the same price I got 16 Meg for when I had a 486.
I can go out and spend about £100 and get the user recommended amount of RAM why would I want to run a modern OS on hardware with memory spec from about 10 years ago?
NASA is on my pedestal because people with short-sighted visions have given us *only* NASA to put there. Plenty of other presidents (both GOP and Democrat) could've started a stronger private industry initiative decades ago with a long-term vision of private space launches. They haven't.
I don't understand, why should the government push private industry? If space launches are profitable private industry will provide if they are not private industry will not.
Why is it bad to push private health insurance but good to incentivise private space launches?
How is Great Britain the latest victim?
The British Empire broke up after WW2 but it should have probably gone before that for economic reasons. The economy was very poor until the late 1970s, due to holding on to the empire too long and WW2 bankrupting the country. Since the early 1980s the British economy has improved markedly discounting the 2009 world wide crash.
However the Brits don't wear hat and hold doors for old ladies any more, maybe that is what you meant?
Finally, the gravest insult is banning of private payment for extra medical services in an attempt to lower costs by granting the government monopsony (single-buyer) power. In other words, you may not pay for that hip replacement yourself if the government has already turned you down on the government run plan. This has actually happened to some extant in Britain under the NHS where some cancer patients, for example, have run afoul of the private pay rules by paying out of pocket for drugs which were not covered by NHS.

The UK goverment is generaly very happy for you to proivde your own health care as you dont appear on the NHS waiting lists and you pay various taxes on the treatment.
How do you do a bare metal recovery without unreasonable downtime? I have recovered from major failures a couple of times luckly other peoples mistakes but it has always taken far too long to do in a sceduled downtime window.
I have recovered to other systems which seem to work in simulation but with the production system still up and over a day or so to get everything off the tapes.
Yes but the insurance companies keep looking for previous illnesses, pre-existing conditions and other factors that make you a risk. So you can't get insurance before you are ill if you are predisposed to certain conditions. For example if your Mother and another close female relative have had breast cancer you will find it very difficult to get cover.
There is no good car analogy for this because you choose to drive like an idiot or buy a car which is likely to be stolen. No one chooses to be likely to get cancer.
Family cars should do better at 24 hours races for reliability than the LeMans cars as they are designed to run for years not 24 hours and a few minutes their down side is that they are not fast enough.
Formula One cars have been banned from using any ground effect since 1983 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Formula_One_regulations) and must have a flat bottom with a plank (Same Page) although the new diffuser rules are starting to gray these rules. Brabham also had a car with a large fan in the back to suck air from under the car and Lotus had run with side skirts for a number of years to prevent air from flowing under the cars. All of these innovations had been banned in the 1980's for safety reasons, as when they fail the car suddenly has no grip.
The military need lots of extra bodys because they still need to be able to work if half of them get killed. The Navy have a dilly number of people on ships because not only might half of they die but they will need to be able to fight and fix the ship at the same time.
If your hosting service hands over you server without seeing a warrant you need a new host. It is illegal in the UK for the police to seize a server without a warrant however, it is perfectly legal for them to ask for it and take it if it is given to them.
But so what. I have a business, and we allow people to post messages in a mostly anonymous way. Kinda like a big corkboard outside a grocery store where anyone can post a flier. If someone posts something illegal, the government shouldn't be allowed to take the wall because we already pressure washed the fingerprints off. </quote>
The police would still come and dust the wall for prints. They would still send a SOCO (Scenes Of Crime Officer)out to dust the wall if they had seen you with the pressure washer because it is easier to send the SOCO than it is to explain why they did not if the judge gets murdered.
<quote> Cops: Give us your surveillance tapes. Business: We have no security cameras, or tapes. Cops: We will decide who has cameras or not by seizing everything in your business indefinitely </quote>
They will also search your shop for security cameras and tapes.
The law has deemed that the police can spend a reasonable amount of time searching your shop thus keeping you closed and the law has deemed they police can take your servers for a reasonable amount of time thus keeping you offline.
Maybe the police are keeping servers for too long but they can not stop you from implementing your disaster recovery plan and getting back online that way.
If you are hosting fringe political groups websites you are going to get your servers seized, I am not defending fishing trips by the police but sys admin to sys admin I advise you to include search and seizure to your disaster recovery plans.
For an added bonus if the police are seizing your servers to silence you this will a/ really piss them off and b/ if they keep coming back give you a good case for harassment.
Like I said, the era of gun dogfights is over. It's pretty rare that a fighter pilot gets less than 3 miles away from an hostile fighter pilot during combat. Most of the stuff happens from quite a distance,
How do you know this? During the Falklands war the last time reasonably equally match opponents o faced each other the Argentinians tried to stay away from the British. The Harrier was on paper a worse fighter than the Mirages it was facing and the British had far fewer planes but the British forced the Argentinians to dog fight and decimated them.
Every war since all the one quoted above have been a modern air force verses an untrained and poorly maintained opponent

Hardly a normal feature.

Its is a shame your arguments where so poor because I agree with your conclusion.

I hate the mod system. Why can't we have a undo option? I ment to make this post insightful

The American Federal Government is a government presiding over a quarter of a billion people in 52 mostly autonomous separate states.
Sorry but if you can't get the number of states correct why should we read on?
I am lucky to have read the specs on gigabit ethernet. All gigabit ethernet is auto sensing.
The Germans made the same calculations with tanks during the second world war. It turns out that quantity has a quality all of its own.
I have a God-like body, you insensitive clod!
Shame its buddha

Sorry cant help my self
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

Besides when did one of us last get a nice meal and a little kick back?

So why do they put guns on all modern fighters?
The F4 originally did not have a cannon but the later models did. Are all fighter aircraft designers and manufactures putting them in for fun?
