That's fine, but I still don't want to play a console on my couch with a keyboard and a mouse. I like some games on the PC, some on the console. MMOs I prefer on my PC.
Yeah, but do you know that all of their other 4 boy friends are clean? Do you know that they aren't starting to have new sexual relationships. Certainly, monogamy is safer because by definition it is between 2 (in this case we are assuming clean) individuals. So their chances are better than yours because you are trusting your girls not to be as slutty as you (or to test a lot).
Umm, so they bundle them up and then release that as a torrent. I don't see any sort of motivation there at all. Only audiophiles care about audio quality to that degree. So...yeah, I don't think you are right at all.
And what we have learned now? That maybe corporations and the free market left unchecked doesn't actually know best either. There is a balance that is delicate and hard to find, but the old cliche that government doesn't know best is becoming naive. Unreasonable regulations that stifle growth are bad. Complete deregulation that allows for unchecked greed and predatory practices is a disaster. Surely there is a middle ground in there.
You are joking, right? After years of being labeled unpatriotic since I thought the Iraq war was wrong from the start (oops, guess I was right), now you are pretending like we came up with it. Why aren't Republicans asking, "Why do we spend more than Democrats, yet try to tax less?" So some companies are leaving the US. We would have to tax them almost nothing in a global market for us to compete with every other country out there. How do we pay for everything...tax the poor? No, what we have been doing is borrowing money from China. So being owned by China is something that you are behind?
If you want to be stupid partisan, I can do it right back. The Right never asks "Why is it that under Republican leadership the country loses jobs and grows national deficits?" Or..."Why is it a bad idea to attack countries that have nothing to do with terrorism and are not an immediate threat?" Or..."Why is it a bad idea to force our religion on other people?" Or..."Why is it ok to deregulate the market to such a point that there is no consumer protection allowing catastrophic meltdowns?"
You are claiming the left is responsible which is just the dumbest thing you can say since the last 6 years have been a complete sweep of Republican power. How can you continue blaming the left when they have no way of overriding a Bush veto?
Here is a tip, try watching shows other than Fox News and stop believing everything that comes out of Limbaugh's mouth. There is some fierce stupidity going on in this country and it needs to stop. This partisan bs has to be reduced. Neither party is perfect. But after watching this administration drive the country in to the ground and then reading fluff brains like yourself crying about the left...god, what more do Republicans have to do before you wake up and see that the root of all evil isn't the left?
You can't really gauge the impact of the cheating. They had insider knowledge and items that generated them tons of resources. With those resources they were able to alter the face of the map. They wouldn't be where they were right now without the cheating. Sure, they could still be a force, but we can't know that. All we know is the game will ALWAYS be tainted by that event and since there is only one shard, all of Eve is tainted. And the person who did this wasn't even fired...who knows how much more cheating is going on by the devs still.
You do realize that your post makes you out to be a complete hypocrite, right? You get all defensive because someone psychoanalyzes you (not surprising) but then you turn around and psychoanalyze everyone else in a derogatory sense. There is a ton of content at level 70. To access some of it, yeah there is some repetition involved. But if you think you somehow dodged repetition from 1-69...I don't think we are playing the same game. Maybe you don't like joining groups or don't have time to raid or do arena. But there is plenty of stuff to do, it may just not be to your liking. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean a lot of other people can't enjoy it. So why don't you play games that are fun for you and stop crying about games you don't find fun (after you have played them for a long time). Fact is, many people like the end game because that is where the best loot is and where everyone is grouping. They don't care that they are clicking the same buttons, they care about spending time with their guild/friends. You don't see any value in that...that's fine, but there are a lot of people that do. And a lot that goes in to WoW is going to be catering to those types of people. Expansion packs are more for your type where you can have new content that you don't need a group of friends to appreciate.
Yet, I have more faith in Google than LLs to deliver something that is worthwhile and enjoyable. LL just knows how to pump out marketing. As far as a platform goes...it is stale and very few people actually "play" it. It isn't the future, it is the past.
Right, because all Obama brings to the table is "cool". Seriously, I know it is easier to not think and just vote along party lines...but I am really tired of seeing someone I didn't vote for ruin this country. McCain is just a continuation of the neo-cons failed philosophy. Bring back the old Republican party:(
Umm, that is a horrible question because they could answer yes and still be against drug legalization. Just because they agree that most of the scholarly evidence says it should be legal doesn't say anything on their position. Maybe you would have figured that out if you didn't smoke so much weed;)
Oh lord...you have to show how juvenile you are by stating his middle name. I don't even know John McCain or Sarah Palin's middle name. But you are just doing the same sort of fear monger crap as a majority of the moral bankrupt Republicans (there are good ones still, just harder to fine). You are either 1) racist 2) trying to scare people because he has a middle name that many people in the middle east have or 3) just being a tool. Probably all of them.
I am not going to address all your points but very simply state something you are missing. Republicans have been spending more than Democrats. They have been putting more power in the federal government. The economy and job numbers have been worse under republicans. Time and again it has been shown that wealth is better distributed rather than concentrated. Trickle down economics is a failure. Economies are so complex and you try to simplify it by saying rich people that are richer will make more jobs. History shows this is untrue. When people are too poor to buy the crap that companies produce, the economy suffers (see, I can do it right back at you). Social Security privatized would be such a disaster. How many people would be suffering now if that was the case? All the older people in society would be rushing back to work causing unemployment to sky rocket. Private medical insurance has allowed companies to make profit off of us instead of offering us better service. I mean, seriously, think about it. These guys make more money the less they have to pay out so they do whatever they can to screw people out of medical care. There needs to be regulations in place to protect consumer....and yes, they can't be overly regulated, but there needs to be a balance. The Republicans have de-regulated everything as much as they can and it is destroying this country. Seriously, look around now and see how things are crumbling. Please tell me how you can't see that this falls squarely in the court of Republican actions? The typical response from people who don't care to use their brain is that Dems have had the majority in congress for the past two years. Well guess what? They need 60% to over-ride President Bush's veto so even if they wanted to, they can't do anything done. The Republicans have had all three branches the 6 years before that and it has destroyed the nation. And instead of paying attention to this you want to focus on someone's middle name. Shame on you. And I hope I don't have to deal with 4 more years of the same party that either hates America or is too incompetent to do what is right.
Yes, they will. And since none of them have sufficient ballot presence to win, you won't see them. I know that sounds snarky. But please...be realistic. None of them have even the slightest chance of being the next president, no matter how much you prefer one of them.
I'll bite. How does taking contributions from a company make him responsible for their actions? If you were running for office and someone legitimate offered to give you money, would you take it? Of course! McCain said he wasn't in the hands of oil lobbyists and now he has taken huge sums of money from them.
McCain has repeatedly voted and pushed for the deregulation of the financial markets which has caused this meltdown. Obama has introduced no fraud bills in the senate that has called for more regulations in these industries to try to prevent this collapse. You are just repeating the stupid Republican talking points. Please try to use your brain instead of just repeating the garbage because it takes about two seconds to figure it out. Both campaigns get money from all kinds of different interests when running their campaigns. It doesn't make them responsible for them when they screw up because Obama and McCain don't become the CEO of the companies just because they get a campaign contribution. The fundamental philosophy of the neo-cons are why we are in this mess. Trying to deflect this by saying..."but...but...Obama took money from Freddie and Fannie!" just shows what a child you are. This election is huge and I can only hope that the voters this year are smart enough to recognize the stupid things you say (that you get from Limbaugh, Fox News, etc) as the big, stinking pile of crap that it is.
God, you are a moron. Who are you parroting? Limbaugh? McCain would be the oldest first term president ever, has been tortured, and has had a serious form of cancer several times. For you to suggest that Obama's health is at risk as much as McCain shows that you are just an idiot or a tool of idiots. With someone as stupid as Palin on the ticket, McCain's health becomes even more of a concern. I mean...she thinks the government bailout has to do with health care! I could have answered the questions Katie Couric asked more intelligently...they weren't that hard!
I have watched this country go down the toilet for the past 8 years due to someone I didn't vote for. Please, don't try the typical stupid Republican tactics to tear down another intelligent person. This country can't take another 4 years under someone who can barely pass their classes.
The owner gets to know when, where, and how you use the product
And I care about this why? They use the data to better understand their customer and improve games in the future. They aren't going to call your mommy upstairs and tell her you have been playing too much.
If the owner dissapears or goes bankrupt, you'll be unable to use your purchased content
If this happens I will get the crack for it which will be available before the servers even go down.
It really isn't any different than any other old game. Try playing a game from 15 years ago and you will realize it isn't going to run on your system any more without an emulator. Or you just download it from someone who hacked it any play.
My point is it is a reasonable DRM that adds value to games rather than removing it. You make your petty little points for who knows what reason (justifying piracy? scared of big brother?) when it just isn't a significant issue for anyone who doesn't have some sort of mental complex. As much as people on here don't want to admit...DRM is not going to go away. We are going to have to support something that is reasonable and Steam has a good balance of features for the customers and protection from piracy.
cliffski, you kind of bug me because I think you use Slashdot as advertisement for your games. Which may or may not be your intention, it just rubs me the wrong way.
In any case, Steam does allow you to buy direct from the developer...at least when it comes to Valve game. They are lucky enough (or good enough) that their service has attracted other big name companies to distribute using that method. Steam isn't a middleman, it is something that adds value to the overall system by allowing you to make groups and friends and know what they are playing and on what server. For a single player game, just knowing your best friend got online to play x gives you the option of saving your game and going off to play with them.
We all want our money to go directly to the developers of the games we love. If this isn't happening for you, then it is probably because the games you provide aren't something that people perceive as worth the cost (despite your cost reduction) or that you are too small and don't feel they can trust your company with their credit card numbers. I am not familiar with your games but I imagine that it is a trust thing and that most people have never heard of your games or if you do, they are not the type of games they are looking for.
So say they don't. Then someone in the community will write something that unlocks it anyways. I'm not worried about it at all and neither should anyone else with an ounce of intelligence.
Not that I would defend gold farmers but you are missing the GP's point. He is saying that if it doesn't harm others, than it isn't a problem. It is just like cheating in a single player game. If it has no effect on you, why should you care?
It isn't a regular game though. It doesn't require near the resources to create that a modern game would. Charging extra for stuff that was already finished right out of the box is a way of screwing over the consumer. It sounds like a lot of people are buying it anyways which is too bad. Stuff like this shouldn't be acceptable.
It seems like you have no problem with this. Think about it though...do you really want to buy everything this way? Is the future going to be that you have a "choice" of buying Awesome Game Basic for $50 but if you want all the features you need to buy the Premium or Ultimate version? I sure as heck don't.
Man, if you think Blizzard has failed, you haven't played any other MMO. Just look at the issue in FFXI, for example. Really, other than seeing a spam every now and then the economy is largely unaffected by gold farmers. You can't buy the best stuff and you can play the game just fine without purchasing gold.
I typed a long reply but decided to just delete it. You aren't worth talking to. Good luck in your battle against people who like the game company (stupidest thing I have ever read). Your points can all be countered in the sense that Blizzard is better than pretty much any other company in their game releases. Your counter-argument that Blizzard can't balance because it hasn't done an FPS has to be one of the worst arguments I have read in my life. I didn't say gaming was too mature for innovation. Learn to comprehend what you read. Yup, you are just a person...and your opinion is meaningless to Blizzard...and I can't tell you how glad I am about that.
Obama has tried to change the lives of people suffering in Illinios by being a community organizer. He actually authored bills in the Senate that wanted to require more regulatory oversights over the financial industry (yeah, he was smart enough to see this coming). Go to his web site. People complain about not knowing what change means, but are too lazy to do any actual research. You are an adult...all this information is a google search and a click away.
Almost by definition, Libertarians are fiscally conservative and socially liberal (since the main thrust is less government involvement in our lives). So quite frankly, you can't vote either Democrat or Republican because they are both against what you view. Unfortunately, there is no way a Libertarian is going to be elected president. But really, the choice is easy. The Republicans (the ones in the last 50 years anyways) spend more than Democrats. Their fundamental philosophy is trickle down economics which concentrates wealth at the top. Democrats economic philosophy is one of more evenly distributing wealth. Historically, the nation's economy does better when wealth is distributed rather than concentrated. Also, there are more jobs created with the Democrat's philosophy compared to the Republican's (despite their claims otherwise). Obama's plan actually calls for the reduction of taxes on people who make less than 250k a year and would save the middle class more than McCain's plan.
So, if you are a fiscal conservative, the Republicans aren't your choice any more. They may keep taxes low on the rich, but they run up deficits more than the Democrats (which we pay for one way or another), they deregulate (which puts us in this current mess), and they care for the minority of this country more than the majority.
Obama is the only choice this election...and if you want links to back up what I am saying, I am happy to provide them to you. I have a feeling most people don't care because this stuff is obvious if you do just a little bit of research.
That's fine, but I still don't want to play a console on my couch with a keyboard and a mouse. I like some games on the PC, some on the console. MMOs I prefer on my PC.
