  2. My list on What Is Your Game of the Year? · · Score: 1

Sadly, I didn't get to play enough games this year. Just too busy. But I did get to play a few. The game I have probably wasted the most time on is Team Fortress 2. And this is a year late, but I would say Oblivion is the top game I have played this year. It just has so many quests and things you can do...and the polish is amazing. Hopefully I will "beat" Oblivion over break (i.e. do all the guild quests, all the major town quests, get all the artifacts, and complete the storyline). Bioshock and HL2-ep2 were both excellent FPSs. FFXII was good but just didn't hold the magic of some of the past games for me. I enjoyed Portal (and loved Coulton's song at the end) but I didn't find it particularly challenging or engaging until the end. I understand why people love that game but I don't agree that it would be worth $50 alone.

  3. Re:Wait... on Zen and the Art of Guitar Hero · · Score: 1

Play the game. When you see how challenging it can be it becomes easy to understand why it would be fun to watch the game played on its highest level. Even if you have experience playing a musical instrument (I play the violin), it still is very challenging.

  4. Where the Wii is on Wii Shortages Costing Nintendo 'A Billion' In Sales · · Score: 1

Just go look on ebay...there are thousands on thousands of them for sale. The reason why no one can get a Wii is because these resellers are buying them in bulk as soon as they can their hands on them. This is inflating the demand for them beyond reality. don't believe me? Just go to ebay and search for the Wii. There are plenty of them out there.

  8. Re:I know Valve can do no wrong but... on Valve Plans For More Half-Life Beyond Episode 3 · · Score: 1

I never had an issue playing a single player game with Steam. When I do, maybe I can go down that road. Until then, it is a non-issue that people seem to make a big deal about.

The nice thing about Steam is that if I lose or destroy a CD, I don't have to worry about it. I can log in to my account, and download my games to any PC.

What if Valve goes out of business? These games are already cracked on the web, I would just download the cracked version of the game.

I don't think you are being intellectually honest here. Old games already don't work on XP unless you jump through some huge number of hoops and even then you may not be able to get them to work. Just because you have the media does not mean you will have the hardware or software in the future that will be able to play the game anyways. If you are really so worried, you can stick to console gaming and save that for your future offspring

For the great majority of the people Steam is convenient and easy to use. If you want to deprive yourself of quality games, feel free to. But don't tell me where I should spend my money and who I should support.

  10. Re:What is a console? on More Than Half of the US Plays Videogames · · Score: 1

No. The essential difference is that consoles are fixed hardware while PCs can have many different hardware configurations. PCs tend to be ahead of the curve graphics-wise since they can always be updated while consoles have a 5 year cycle (approximately). Other than that, they are all just computers.

    Your concept is just flamebait.

The Wii certainly is an interesting console and I am all for getting more people in to my hobby. I don't quite understand all the fanboyism though. I like that I have a choice...a lot. And that the choices this time are distinct in multiple ways. No matter what you like, you have to admit it is a pretty good time to be a gamer. I am with the GP that the 360 has the games I want the most right now. I am still patiently waiting for a good deal before I get any current gen console (and I still have to beat Oblivion).

You might have said "not to be rude" but quite frankly, your post was rude and small minded. Everyone has friends and loved ones. Just because someone is different, doesn't make them losers.
