I had to turn off all of my adblocking stuff to make the posting page appear as anything but a black background - it's been like that for about a month now (Firefox, The Proxomitron)
another note; i had to disable the greasemonkey live comment tree sript as it was blocking the reply link on comments
the crappy stories are getting really tiring, but the main reason i keep coming back is the comments. there's some really smart and some side-splittingly hilarious stuff posted so i always have a quick trawl beneath most stories.
i'd advised people looking for an alternative to check out upcoming.org. from the site itself: "Upcoming.org is a collaborative event calendar, completely driven by people like you. Enter in the events you're attending, comment on events entered by others, and syndicate event listings to your own weblog". it also uses restapi for inputting events and has syndication for specific venues and locations which is great for integration with other sites.
it was definitly the a1000; the a500 was after as it was the first to have the destinctive wedge design (the a1000 was more like a large mac lc2 iirc - i can't be bothered googling for it atm;).
amen! when it comes to actually "collecting" music, one should go with something like the flac format. with reducing costs of storage space, why settle for anything less than perfect quality?
Is there any such thing as a British libertarian?:P
not really, after the people of the uk had to live through several years of laissez-faire capitalism in the guise of thatcherism and have realised how soul destroying an experience it is. however, the uk does have the liberal democrats who are like; well, libretarians + democrats, i.e., the best of both worlds
either it's a god damn bright screen, or someone has tweaked the colours (esp. blue/red) to make the purple flower standout more. which is annoying, as the clarity of a large screen oled tv is supposedly one of it's main selling points, and if they have to screw with photos of an actual set, that makes me worry..

Currently the BBC depends on the TV licence fee, and shows no commercal advertising. This is a very good thing.
:o
except when you need a toilet break but don't want to miss anything of the show/film you're watching

because linux sucks for desktops ;P *runs and hides. very very far away*
i think that was intentional; they just didn't want the live stream servers to be slashdotted ;)

s/adiquite/adequate
"According to telecoms analysts BWCS, 625 million people worldwide will be travelling on wi-fi enabled trains within the next five years"
and
"A radio system for train drivers recommended after the Paddington rail crash has been delayed by five years. The digital radio network was to be introduced on the rail network in 2008.
But the system, allowing signallers to speak to a number of drivers at the same time, will not be ready until 2013 - 14 years after the crash."
so 5 years for wi-fi, 9 years for adiquite saftey? nice one
i just didn't see any sarcastic tone in the comment
it comes from the syntax "july the 4th, 2004"
uh, americans use "month/day/year" syntax for dates.
