shit, im online all the time and I get less spam in my IM app than I get in my email. I could easily do without email, I'd just tell friends to leave me a note on msn/aim/icq/jab/etc
As soon as I saw the announcement I got out my trusty curl & wget commands, but the urls are a complete nightmare. I suspect I'll have to write a 50+ line perl script to get it done! I'm working on it, though. First I gotta clean up some space on my HD;)
OCR is most effective when the letter boundaries are clear and well-defined, such as fixed-width text, or text that is at least on a straight line. Most CAPTCHAs put the letters on a curved path, as well as distorting the letters so they are no longer within a clearly defined rectangular shape. This makes it very hard to identify which parts of the images are letters and which parts are not, making OCRing CAPTCHAs a non-trivial problem.
Duh you just reel in the string while spinning! Obviously what they wanna do is attach a string between the moon and the object they want to hit the moon and then reel that in. Easy as pie!
I actually checked the discussion earlier to see if somebody had posted the details yet, but nobody had so I watched some YTMNDs before coming back. There they were. Excellent, now I don't have to RTFA either!
It's the old "stable, fast, on schedule; pick two" -- the faster the chip is, the more likely you can concentrate on writing stable code on schedule and make up for the slowness with processor speed.
Why bother supporting one OS when you can support many?
Do you even know what support means?
For those not in the know, support basically means, "we will make sure your shit works". How the hell is Apple going to make sure Windows works on their hardware? Honest question. Do you not think that is why they do not support it? The less commitment Apple makes to enabling users to run Windows on their hardware, the less problems they will have as a result of their users running windows on their hardware. This is not an argument pro or con the running of windows on Apple hardware, it's just fact.
A gynecologist friend of mine has a Windows Tablet PC and hates it because of the crashing and small resolution, but he carries it because he doesn't look like a "troll or jeweler hunched over a laptop". He'll write on paper before he'll use a conventional laptop when he's with a patient. Apple is very good at making form factors everyone drools over.
I don't think anyone would want their gynecologist drooling at work;)
I once had a Java exam for a class I never showed up to (they placed it on goddamn saturday mornings). The professor asked me about Java's session handling, and I had to wing the whole thing, describing how I'd create a unique id that would be associated with each user and passed back & forth through the POST header/html. It was pretty funny when he realized that I hadn't attended any of his lectures. Got a decent grade though.
Thanks for posting that, it makes me happy. I remember watching this godawful made for tv movie about a rowdy bunch of christian scientists who let their son die because prayers work better than medicine. I'm glad it doesn't really take place that way.
Last I heard anything, it was legal to buy from allofmp3.com in Denmark, as you're buying something that's legal in Russia and "importing" it with a valid license.
Copyright is the right to publish/distribute, not the right to obtain. If you download via bittorrent, you're most likely publishing to the rest of the swarm, thus violating copyright law. But no, you're not a criminal, this is civil law.

"Apple Prevails" would be Mooresque, not Orwellian!
I don't remember if there was such a thing in the last iTunes update, but this one has an "iTunes Phone Driver" if you go look in the custom install.

I'm not sure but I seem to remember installing my parents iMac G3 from a B/W G3 install CD.
I heard that one as "My ideal date is female, human, & alive. But hell, two out of three isn't so bad!"

So it's our jobs' fault for giving us money that can be stolen?
The fault of car makers that cars get stolen?
I'm a bit confused.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but maybe Fester Bestertester does, try asking him.
Funny you should mention Dolly, she was born 10 years ago today (european time): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolly_the_sheep

They've licensed the technology from CSI. You even get a voice recognition feature that lets you say "zoom... enhance... enhance"

The 35 mph figure is an estimate, so having several digits on the km/h is meaningless.
Umm.. notice that I posted about 15 minutes before 16:00 Swedish time?
