    That's all fine and dandy but I'm still waiting for my first gig Microsoft promissed two months ago. Since they just decieded to offer 2 gb now that is pretty good evidence that they havn't even started trying to upgrade the service yet.. This is obviously just marketing hype to try to take some steam out of Gmail. This is so similar to any other tech field competition like the graphic card and CPU card industry for example... Always paper releases no products till 2-3 months down the line from the "offical release"

    30k for 3.2 tb is a fucking waste unless you really need the speed, which this guy doesn't. 1tb on a drive for 1200 is a steal though. btw im running to raptor drives in raid 0 ;) WinXP boots in 3 seconds no shit.

    it's not like he needs a increadibly fast disk system to playback movies, even if they are DVD quality. just stick with cheap old IDE and you can build a TB@ about a grand a TB, $30k? 30 TB. the way you like to blow money, I would guess you are from CA

    I don't see why if the Opteron and Intels new 64 bit extenion CPUs are a success, how that spells certin doom for the Itanium. I'm sure there will still be a demand for "pure" 64 bit processors on the server market, that is as long as they are faster at serving.

    the point in buying amd64 (atleast for me) is that it's like a free upgrade later. best 32bit performance now, 64bit compatability later. I don't expect 64bit mode do be super fast but having access to 4 gigs plus of ram in C is pretty nice :) especialy for those monsterous neural nets

    if you have the right kind of eyes you can see that the models have a relativly low polycount (as compaired to the Half-Life 2 demos for example) But what makes it look so nice is the magic Bump maps and lighting arithmatic weaved by John Carmack

    actually the polycount on these critters is comparitivly low (to Half-Life 2 for example) the reason it looks so nice is great math applied to Texture maps via John Carmack.

    oh god, I hope your not right. My dual Opteron system should chew up the math of any engine. 45 fps at 512x384 would make me happy

    the reason punishment in schools for any kind of computer "activity" is so harsh is the teachers are so ignorant about them. This reminds me of the time I was suppended for six months and fined $500. I cracked the fortress password which was "spoon." When i came back next year the students had cracked it again by simply holding down [Enter] at the password screen. and guess what the new password is? FORK!!! FUCKING FORK!! (extra exlamation points nesesary) apparently it took the stupid ass admin 20 hours or so to change the password on every machine one at a time so i had to pay his $25 an hour wage. overpaid moron!

    like in the article, SCO has been dis-proven over and over again. the Press is paying to much attention to this case (among other things). by now isn't it apparent by now that SCO is simply a *industry status probe* by microsoft? consider it a spectrum probe launched by the MSS Enterprise. Although, everywhere it scans, it costs resources to the enemy, the open source community. =]
