I disagree as the storage difference between a 5 mb to 18gig pdf compared to a 250k to 1mb tiff is huge!
Where I work we do PDF to TIFF conversion just for that reason. Due mainly to Sharepoint having a 8mb limit per document you can upload.
Have you tried Guild Wars? It's a lower level cap (20), and PVP is seperated from PVE play, so you do not NEED to grind for the good gear (but it doesn't hurt either):) AND, its strictly skill based.
Not a lie and not a stretch. Video worked fine, so not EVERYTHING didn't work. But sound and wireless (even linksys approved Vista drivers) didn't work.
Believe me or not, why lie? Like I said, I still installed XP Pro so it's not like I said "OMG!!11 INSTALL LINUX FTW!!" so give me a break.:)
Ok, sales are up. But since every PC you buy has Vista pre-installed how can sales NOT be up? And does this take into account (like what happened with me), I bought my son a new PC w/Vista pre-installed. Nothing worked, wireless, sound, etc. So I wiped the drive and installed XP Pro.
So that counts as a Vista sale, but we are not running Vista.:/
Have you tried Ubuntu? I can all that you ask with a 30-45 minute install, one download from the forums, and click click click I have all the codecs, DVD playing, CD burning, MP3, OGG, and just about everything else you could ask for in about an hour.
I just finally removed windows from my main drive because everything I do, I can do in Ubuntu.

The availablitiy of the source code has nothing to do with it. Joe Beerbelly is not going to be looking at the source code of his operating system. You'd be lucky if he understands that a thing called an operating system exists and has something called source code associated with it.
If your solution is to fix it yourself, you've already lost. It needs to be fixed by the *official* software vendor so that the changes can be pushed automatically to all the Beerbellies and Flabbyasses out there.
I think what they are saying, (not having RTFA), is that if an independant company had access to the source code, they could affectivly(sp?) write a program that would keep a rootkit from happening. NOT that Joe Beerbelly needs the source.

Dr. Evil: His farger? Farger? OH! OH, his FATHER, FATHER! I don't speak freaky deaky dutch porn boy!
Actually, not it's not. I support a somewhat large scale site for a stock firm, and we average thousands of hits a day. It's built on ASP.NET, and SQL Server on the backend.
To deploy any changes, is just a matter of dropping 1 or 2 dll's into the bin directory and viola, it's deployed. Tell me again how hard that was?
Once you commit to a certain distro, switching to another is time consuming, and incompatibilities like package management have to be dealt with at the cost of your admin staff.
What does package management have to do with software? The program is still the same, it runs the same it's just installed with a different front end. How in the hell does that affect the program itself?
Worst if there is any form of integration then that too most likely needs to be re-written at programmer/$ costs
This is true for any platform, this is nothing but trolling fud!
Carry on, nothing to see here.
I can't believe I'm replying to this but here it goes: You say that having a "No-Reboot" option is desperate? Why? I think it's kind of nice to be able to update my whole linux system without having to reboot. To me it's an important feature, not a desperate consideration.
Think of the servers.. can't we just please THINK OF THE SERVERS??!!??!! Why should I have to reboot a mission critical server just because I updated 1 file?
Ahhh, but you can store youre home prefs in a seperate/home partition and still save your settings. You can't do that on a win machine.

Then you'd want to use EasyTag. It scans the id3 tags and can rename a batch of files based on any parameter you want.:)

What are you using? Windows or Linux? Easytag works great for me in linux and in windows I'm using iTunes. You can't do major batch changes, but you can do batch Name and or Genre, etc. Just not physical (bitwise that is) file name changes
" As long as the "product" can be downloaded legally for FREE"
Only for Redhat.
Where can I get the lastest distro of Suse?
Oops, you can't. Gotta pay and pay big for it.
Might as well get Windows XP.
Do you see the problem here?
You only used RedHat and SuSe as examples, what about Debian, Knoppix, Gnoppix, Mepis, Morphix, Gentoo, Slackware, Damn Small, Vector, Crux, Peanut, Buffalo, Libranet(has both a free and a $$), Feather, College, Source Mage... etc etc etc.
Now, how many "FREE" versions compared to $$ versions of windows are there?
I've also lightly used Linux as a desktop OS (i don't largly due to lack of good 3D support for my geforce4)
I have a Geforce 4 as well. Go to nvidia's site and download thier linux driver install. It works like a charm. I'm using it on a Knoppix install with 3D support and it r0xz!
Really? And what about the iPod Touch users? We don't have a data plan, we depend on WiFi.

How do I reeech these keeeeds?!?!
That's funny, Mac OSX would not recognize my SATA drive. So you got that to work right out of the box?

So they CAN get DNA from hair, wow, I guess you owe me some money.
Yes they do. They have the right to remain silent! :)

I'm so glad that these Trolls, and AC's were here to see this.

that's not true. If I'm running a virus scan as "Administrator" and a infected file is found, within norton I CAN NOT
remove that file. Why is that?
I think what they are saying, (not having RTFA), is that if an independant company had access to the source code, they could affectivly(sp?) write a program that would keep a rootkit from happening. NOT that Joe Beerbelly needs the source.
