Not much surprise there; the Gimp developers have been working hard on the 2.* series of Gimp. Do you think that there is a seperate team working on GEGL?
1) If you want to draw cirles and boxes use Inkscape, Gimp is not optimized for that.
3) I don't agree, font selection is no different from colour selection and other options, I don't want all of them in the dialog.
4) Left click your text with the Text tool and change the font in the tool window.
5) You mean taskbar icons? If so Gimp is not a WM.
Won't work. You can't work with several images with a Inkscape like interface, but you usualy need more then one when working with bitmaps. A fullscreen mode with tools and menus arranged allong the edges (in one row, clickable on the edge) would rock though.
But with a BSD license it may not be free to downstream users. They may not even know that some or most of the code they are using is also available as free software.
You can specify your DPI in Gnome; in the advanced font options IIRC.

So who exactly gets the copyright tax if not copyright holders? The gov' already gets a tax from the sale.
But literate people can also write and copyright is granted before the ink has dried (or text stored on disk).
What if I own rhe copyright of the files I burn? Do I get my money back?
All literate people hold copyright on writen material, so all should get a cut.
Slashdot readers are dieing out?
In Wal-Mart camera notices YOU!
And the program is much better! Mmm... dreams...
You could pay foe a SCO license I guess...
Both GNU GPL and BSD are free software and opwn source licenses, so that is not a useful metric.
