Whatever they can do with "digital" cameras, they can do with a regular camera as well, possibly with
higher resolution, or at least, with analog continuity in the resolution as opposed to digital pixelation.
In miniature format since 1936 no less. Are those people simply ignorant in believing that cell phone cameras are the ultimate "invisible" cameras, or is it that everyone can do it now, not just those who are willing to pay extra?
Don't forget books. If only I could find place to buy books... Internet shops are way to expensive for me and all I can get localy is translated AND (mostly) shit.
Democracy (ok, ok, "Representative Democracy") is overrated. Sure, it's better than most of the other systems, but it still sucks. Ultimatly, in this supposedly enlightened age, people are STILL telling me what to do, when, and how to do it, even when what I want to do (or NOT to do) has no effect on any one else.
If thuis truly would be an "enlightened age" easonable people would be in politics and people would vote reasonably.
I don't buy most of the things they promote anyway, why the hell should I watch that? I usuly decide what I want to buy and only then look into my choices. Commercials don't help me, they just annoy me.
No question, packaging should be protected. But the look/taste/smell of the actual product should not be, except for patents for actual inovations (they expire unlike trademarks).
What kind of absurd is that? Since when can you trademark the look of a cube?! They are not trying to pass it off as the original so common sense says that trademards shouldn't apply. IANAL.
A novel is easy to back up, print it (twice) after you find a way to read it, put a gziped text file on every computer you have. Photos are a little more difficult.
I'll take redundancy over decay resistant material every time. A book with a million copies out there is has better chance to last than one copy stamped onto titanium. That is if somone cares, if no one does social evolution has ruled the book useless.
No, they get their fingers cut off, so they can't draw what they saw.
They'll need a tall building...

What about, for example, animation? Does every animator hold copyright for part of the whole and the company needs permision from them all?

Commercials and promotional announcements are objectionable content.
I have to prove that I disagree?!

There's also Cinelerra: "Render like a dentist!"
If everything you have copyright on that is available under an open source license counts than the FSF might have a good bunch of code going for them.
And the last slashdot "article" on the case was just awful. Copyright, patents and tradekmarks all over the place...
Total Commander?
In that case I'd say that all the "intelectual property" laws are overreaching.

PNG can do everything (except animation) that GIF can do. There is NO reason to use static GIF's.
What does this have to do with free software?
This article is basicly about them not telling why.

What about a hard drive in a deposit box? Or MO disks?
World domination!
