OK, so Jurassic-Park is pure fantasy, but I'm still holding out hope for cloning a 10,000 year-old Wooly Mammoth.
And if you want a real ethical problem, what if we could clone and give birth to real Neanderthals, using DNA fragments from 40,000 yo frozen specimens? I'd do it, just for the spectacle of seeing the lawyers and priests struggling with it.
Following recent EC rulings, Apple is considering registering as a religion for tax purposes. They may succeed, as people have been calling them a religion for years.
Google, on the other hand, having achieved both omniscience and omnipresence, is more a God than a religion.
It's not hard to make an argument that any picture of a naked child could be considered child porn.
Its an old argument and a poor one. The problem is the logic leap from "it can be used for sexual gratification" to "porn". People made the same argument for partially clothed kids, so catalogues no longer have models for kids underwear. But perverts will still like photos of fully clothed models, so next stop is for all kids to wear burkas in public? Once you start changing your behaviour for fringe views, where do you stop? What about foot fetishes? More common than you think. Does that make bare feet porn? No - for reasons that should now be obvious, useful definitions of porn include intent and context, not just content.
Lets just draw the line at commonly accepted standards. In more conservative parts of the US or Middle East, that means no nudity. In the rest of the world, its OK.
This is Facebook! You'd be lucky to get buttocks on a sheepskin rug past the prudish Facebook censors, let alone anything remotely sexual. Heard all the fuss about Kim Phuc, or breastfeeding mothers exposing nipples?
the accounting flow should have zero impact on the performance of the data
Sure. I'm not saying otherwise. I have no idea how T-mobile implement their network (I've worked on small ones) but am speculating that the loss off accounting checks is a *side-effect* of how they are routing speedtest data to improve test scores.
In this particular example, the URL is triggering the special treatment, so deep packet inspection is happening. Does T-mobile use an HTTP proxy?
Why would T-mblie want you to do speedtest on an inactivated SIM? They don't.
It is a side-effect of them cheating on the speed test. What happens is that speed-test traffic is given #1 priority over everything else. The first thing the network checks is "is this a speed-test?" If so, it bypasses everything else non-essential, including the accounting system.
So this is not just a way to get free data, but to get faster data, if you have a decent proxy. But surely a large corporation would never cheat on product performance tests? [cough]VW , Samsung, LG,...[cough]. Can anyone test this?
That's true. But still the intelligence services served the corrupt administration, and not the nation. They were a willing tool of evil. The point is that "massive harm to the US intelligence apparatus" is not harm to the USA. The NSA needs drastic reform. Unfortunately the "harm" to the NSA etc has been minimal. More like mild embarrassment. Noone has gone to jail. The CIA director commits perjury to congress and nothing happens. Business as usual.
Are you serious? The moon is in gravitational lock, so experiences no tidal stress. Have you not noticed that the same side of the moon always faces the earth?
OK, there is some tidal force from the sun, but the moon is also kind of small, and solid. No molten core, no ocean, no thin crust, no plate tectonics.
And you are ignoring the much larger numbers of people killed by the US intelligence apparatus outside the country. Including thousands of Americans killed in Iraq because of those Weapons of Mass Destruction "found" by the intelligence apparatus. (And not a few locals.)
Blackboard? No, its just one of those things that come up in "political correctness gone mad" rants. The real reason that blackboards are now called chalkboards is because they are usually green:) (In the UK, "black" for people was(is?) considered somewhat politically incorrect.)
But "humankind" is not a familiar word around here. Is it a political neologism (hu-man plus man-kind), or just a regional dialect word? It's certainly a redundant prefix.
You are overweight. For statistical purposes, your data goes in the obese category. If you want a more accurate assessment of your individual health, you could get a few tests, but start with the easiest - your waistline. Or just look in the mirror. The "I'm not obese just a bit chubby" line won't help. There is no big health difference between 29.9 and 30.1.
Nobody has ever called me fat.
Not to your face, and all of us are fat now so nobody notices. Go back 30 years in time, and you'd look fat.
Skin colour doesn't correlate with crime, poverty does.
That's a bit like "Being female does not correlate with having breasts, hormone-levels does. ". Lack of delayed-gratification, low IQ and poor impulse-control lead to both poverty and crime.
But is this really about fear of crime? If it was, we'd expect to see black women treated similarly to white men. Gender is a huge factor in crime statistics. Age too. What does AirBnB say about that?
Its a shame they have chosen to address this issue by taking hiding information, instead of providing more information. Once you know enough about someone, their race matters little. But if all you know is race, then of course its smart to choose the non-black option.
I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!
I mean, how old are you people? What have you done with yourselves? You, you must be almost 30... have you ever kissed a girl?
I didn't think so! There's a whole world out there! When I was your age, I didn't watch television! I LIVED! So... move out of your parent's basements! And get your own apartments and GROW THE HELL UP! I mean, it's just a TV show dammit, IT'S JUST A TV SHOW!
Then again, the pre-unibody Minis were also a pain in the backside to service, so I guess I shouldn't complain....)
Ain't that the truth! It's like a European car - 2 minutes to swap a part, plus an hour to disassemble and reassemble the mac to get to it. (and open it up again because the wifi antenna stopped working) I now have a "small form factor" PC. Ten times the size of the Mini, but a pleasure to poke inside.
Getting two devices connected is hard with the piles of nat,
Only in TCP.
Using UDP you can punch right through her hole.
But does it still fit in Eight Megabytes, even with swapping?

how many times will the press run this identical story after an incident?
Every time. The Press have always "cashed-in" on disaster and misery.
Isn't it funny ... how the people quickest to yell "traitor" are so often the same ones who seem to almost worship the Founding Fathers?
That treason actually killed tens of thousands of people, but is somehow more OK.
Only 280×192 pixels and 64k RAM, but at least it has a headphone socket.
Having not liked Red Dwarf 7 so much, I liked Red Dwarf 8 (#) even less,
Lasts longer than any other season, season 8. Why? No bugger'll watch it.

I do, unless they where sexualized
This is Facebook! You'd be lucky to get buttocks on a sheepskin rug past the prudish Facebook censors, let alone anything remotely sexual.
Heard all the fuss about Kim Phuc, or breastfeeding mothers exposing nipples?
It has been some years since specialists began to warn about the dangers of over exposition of children online.
What danger? Turning them into narcissistic lawsuit-happy idiots?

So please, stop calling her this atrocious name.
You can pronounce it "Fook" if it bothers you that much.
Do moonquakes occur during these periods?

FYI, the British did march on Washington DC AFTER the US was a sovereign nation,
Well, you had just invaded Canada, while Britain was busy with Napoleon.
and they would have probably stretched the necks on more than one traitor if they had a chance
Not after the Paris Treaty of 1783. One of those traitors even became ambassador to Great Britain.
And you are ignoring the much larger numbers of people killed by the US intelligence apparatus outside the country.

I love to hear Wozniak's opinions on many things. But cars is not one.
From TFA:
Woz noted he’s owned several Detroit vehicles — a Buick, a couple of Pintos, and one current member of his fleet, a Hummer.
This is not an area where Woz's judgement or taste should be emulated.
Yet my BMI is 31, so I'm obese.

Or as William Shattner just had to say:
I'd just like to say... GET A LIFE, will you people? I mean, for crying out loud, it's just a TV show! I mean, look at you, look at the way you're dressed! You've turned an enjoyable little job, that I did as a lark for a few years, into a COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME!
