Theres definitely more innovative stuff than that, like DakNet http://www.firstmilesolutions.com/demo.htm, who came up with LOW cost internet access for rural areas.

    http://expert.cc.purdue.edu/~tsiripur

A brief description of the game: its going to be called University, and as the name suggests, you'll be responsible for the functioning of a university. You start off with a building with some administrative staff and some academic staff. You also have some funds to build a building or 2 to start with.

It sounds like a sim, but it isnt. It has a crazy side to it - as in you fight with other universities. Use your Computer Science students to hack and disable competing university's network. Or have sports matches - with your jocks competing against theirs.

Its very disorganised right now, but I will try to get some order into these ideas while making the page. Any help / suggestions will be appreciated.

May be we can take the cheap way out, and use ebay for the motherboard and proc . . .

You get a SuperMicro P4DL6 dual P4 Xeon mainboard
with 6 PCI-X slots for around $51 right now. Lets say it goes up to US$100 or even US$200 (considering that the other Xeon mobo is going for US$304.99). Just search for Xeon PCI-X on ebay.

Throw in a 2.8Ghz Xeon at 533Mhz FSB - available for US$199 on ebay - and some registered DDR RAM, say a gig, available for $121 a piece, 512MB PC2100, at NewEgg - and you're looking at a not so expensive base.

    Adding it up:

    Motherboard- $100 (min)************$305 (max)
    Processor - $199 (min,2.8 Ghz)****$360 (max,3Ghz)
    RAM - $121 (512MB)**********$242 (1 GB)
    BASE TOTAL - $420******************$907

US$420 for a mobo, cpu and RAM doesnt sound too bad for a base setup, provided you find the deals on ebay. Of course, this is just the base, you have to add in the cost of other components too - Case, Power Supply, Monitor, Sound Card, Speakers, Keyboard, and Mouse - all of whose prices are flexible depending on you budget.

And, there, you have yourself a GeForce 6800 SLI compatible system. You just have to wait for the card/s to come out. Or just buy one card, and wait till the price drops on the other one.

Its not right to simply label people stupid because of the games they play - they are not real. Its recreation - its not real, after you realise that then take a step back and see whats happening. People have fun playing these games - they dont derive pleasure out of killing stuff.
