    it doesnt work on my dell.

    Firstly, I'm running defer's i8k utils (fan control program).
    First it BSOD with ACPI.sys complaint, then i reboot.

    Kill i8k utils, run speefan, it shows blank output. OH well.

    so i read it again 4 hours later, and that was ambigious.
    i mean
    on my laptop running ex pee, the firewire shows up under network connections as having a tcp/ip stack.

    2 solutions then.
    1. optical (but fiber is a pain to run...and is expensive.

    2. what if you ran ethernet (that is protected form lightning, etc) and you had 2 UPS switches on both ends? would the voltage regulators in the UPS save your cheap equip?

    Comparison:
    Business DSL from XO (Formerly concentric) used to cost ~200/mo for 192 up/down. (we had hosting services bundled with that)

    Since it was a "home office" and we never took advantage of the "Business perks", canceled the dsl and went residential cable internet. 3 meg down, 256 meg up for 50/mo. add 50/mo for hosting and volia!

    How is the delay compared to broadcast HDTV?

    My problem with HDTV is that the delay between hitting the button on the remote, and the channel actually playing. it just destroys the channel surfing experience.

    The idea behind AA419 DDOS is that the hosting providers have been either unresponsive or unwilling to pull their accounts.

    The extreme measure is to consume the alloted bandwidth to the account and thus take the fake bank offline.

    I agree. And sadly, honda and mazda are switching to the U cut keys, instead of the traditional.

    and the problem with U cut keys is that theyre near impossible to have a cheap "spare" to keep in your wallet just to open the doors when you lock the keys in the car.

    FTA:
    LightScribe blanks will cost more than ordinary discs, but Verbatim says the difference will be less than the price of a sticky label and the ink needed to print on it. But anyone wanting to use the new system will need to buy a LightScribe drive, and that will cost around $200.
