alright, since we're friends i'll try being a troll here.
Alright, so what I recommend you do is get a PV cell, some co2 and some water. make your own glucose and live off of that.
Take a suppliment pill once a day. Have a nice non-killing life.
Grump
PS Please don't kill mother earth to acquire your PV cell.
ok, on a serious note. Are animals and humans the same? Can they be treated the same?
I believe food is food, life is life. Humans putting humans at a higher priority than say, dogs is a justifiable thing. and frankly, we sometimes put too much emphasis on a human life.
I used to have a german shep/rot mix. When he was 8 years old, he became diabetic. Inuslin and foot nurished him back to health for a few years.
Now we have to question. Could he have recieved better care and lived more than 5 years? Maybe. But you have to understand. Caring for an old person/dog is a difficult task. Go to an emergency room/nursing home and you will understand. those who can't care for themselves demand care from others. And those providing the care will do the best they can within reason.
What I mean is that I drew a balance between care and my life. I did not let a sick dog take over my life. When he first became diabetic, I was in high school at the time. I would shoot him up before I left, and shoot him up at night when I fed him. Did I go out with friends? yes. Mom refused to deal with needles, and Dad made it clear that he would pay for medical supplies, but it was MY RESPONSIBILITY to care for him.
When college came around, the responsibility fell on Dad to do it, but it automatically became my responsibility.
I decided that I would call it quits when he no longer could hold his own "digniity". What i mean is that if he was unable to walk, or if his health took a turn for the worse and he was in a misseralb condition. It would be time for euthanisia.
So how does this relate to humans? Well I belive that humans should also have the option of euthanasia. Because humans can directly communicate their feelings/desires to other humans, they are able to dictate when they die.
For example, if you had terminal cancer. In the early stages of the caner, you could dictate that you wanted to die with a conscious state of mind. So you would be able to talk with your family/loved ones during your last moments; instead of being in a death bed loaded on drugs and not having a functioning mind.
just a thought, had a uncle who died of lungh cancer a few years ago.
What are you talking about? I've heald the beliefs that machines should either be on or off. You know what I mean. I heald out for a long time, but I recenetly upgraded her to an ACPI compliant platform. So now, my wife does "suspend to ram" for 8 hours every night. My god! I've saved so much in my power bills these last few months.
yep, i have to agree with you about keeping the cpu clock down.
I have a dell latitude something for work. 2.4 gig p4, clocked at 1.2 gig. I hardly hear the fan and you know what? its better that way.
My other machine is a dell insp 8100. 1.0 gig p3 in dynamic mode. When watching tv eps (i don't do funny stuff like that on my work machine) its at 1 gig. sure the fan comes on somewhat. but when im not using it, and it is running at 0.7 gig, mostly silent.
Its one thing most people don't understand about laptops. we buy them for low power and quietness. Did i mention its also much more portable than a tower?
Not for performance gains with games as much as 1. Dell drivers are about 2 years out of date. 2. ATI drivers won't work on mobility chipsets. Either mod the drivers, or just download some modded drivers.
I've been using the omega drivers for about 1.5 years now. These drivers are less problemmatic than dlink wlan drivers.
I remember buying the movie hoping there would be extras (hey, i've seen every sp ep) and was very disappointed by the lack (or non-exsisting) extras.
In other news...
A Hollywood Video opened up down the street from my parent's house that summer. They had a promotional thing where for the first 2 weeks, all you can rent for free. 1 video at a time only.
Oh well, so My cousins were visiting from maryland and we went down and rented a movie, watched it, returned, took another. That was an awesome weekend.
thanks for the link. I'm reading it and it mentions that gas/electric hybrids are exempt from smog till 2011.
I remember digging through hybrid groups and owners (east coast) were complaing that their cars were not passing smog inspections. The reason: too clean to be detected.
And in 5 years when you trade in your car. Dealership: Your odometer says you have 100k miles. You: Yea, so appraise me for 100k mile then. Dealer: But your in-car GPS reports 20k mi. You: oh cra...oh, blame the aftermarket wheels. screwed up the circuference.
Actually, my cousin has a Motorola V400 sans camera.
Her husband works for a company that does lenses. They buy phones, take them apart to verify their lenses are being used. After that, they toss the phones.
Sure it doesn't have a camera, but every other aspect of the phone works.
yet, until someone decides to write a virus form of it...that someone meaning the MPAA's IT team, paid uner the table and while on vacation in South America where they are out of US jurisdiction.
edit: i didn't think of it at the time, but I got the axim for 100 because it was 1. refurb and 2. dell was discontinuing the model at the time.
One nice perk of the axim is the ability to play back video. So I have re-encoded some tv eps and put them on the SD card. Speaker sucks, but thats why god invented headphones.
I also got a high capacity battery (2.5x standard batt) so I can get away with charging it once a week (just keep it in my bag to use when on campus)
god damned, i'll admit im an aim junkie but everywhere you go?
Well i'm not here to judge other slashdotters. so here is my advice and what to do.
firstly, the cost (100) was what i paid for my dell axim x5 basic. spent snother 70 for a wireless nic and 20 for a 256 sd card. total 200 bucks. (but no activation and monthly fee)
how do i get my aim anywhere fix? setup imfowarding to your phone. http://mymobile.aol.com/portal/im/index.ht ml
My phone provider allows 300 messqges a month for me. (really old plan before they realized people would pay for sms...which is stipd becaue it takes up *no network resource* compared to phone calls)
anyway. im fowarding allows me to reply via sms, or i can burn a min or 2 by calling them back.
Email? If I'm not in my apt, im probably on campus. campus wirelss (see wlan nic) keeps me in touch if i want to check with webmail (but i dont care for email. if its anything important, i'd get a call/aim anyway.) There is a pocketpc aim client by aol.
I've heard of using gprs data through phones with the pdas. basically setup a bluetooth/cable/ir connection with the phone and do data that way. don't know much about it though (sorry). i don't do gprs because i don't want to pay an extra 36/year for basic "web and internet" services.
I say get a pocket pc/palm kinda thing. Its a one time cost, no activation, no monthly fee.
Grump.

Actually, the university I go to counts internal traffic against your bandwidth quota.
Thank god CD-RW and DVD-RW are easily available these days. And wireless lan helps alot with your neighbors too.
Wait a sec? South park movie had extras?

Blair Witch, so glad I didn't pay to rent it
this is stupid. I signed up for the open beta on the 9th (9 days ago)
took me a week to download the thing over the POS cable modem. Took forever becausei share that 3 down/256 up with 3 other guys.
so what? now i finally have the installer and i hear they are killing the beta...
SUCKS TO BE ME!

Pass out CDs.
*runs away*
uh, bunny ranch is in southern nevada. Aim for vegas instead.
Isn't it no inspection for the first 5 years?
I think...
Then insurance companies are always happy to give your info away, if the law (which now does) says they have to.
Probably something along the lines of verifying that their product is making it to market.
If their lenses aren't making it to market, then they need to find out why the manufactures aren't tusing their lenses and fix the issue.
Actually, my cousin has a Motorola V400 sans camera.

Sir,
We CAN NOT hear you. Please call us back with your Cingular GSM phone.
Verizon.
Or if you have a modular bay hdd, install an OS to that and boot off the modular hdd.
Ok, thats just me and my laptop. I never like dual booting. I believe in one OS per HDD.

using jpegs in the background is dependent on IE.
I found its best if you just convert those into bitmaps. Caused less trouble that way.
Or you could save power by settin the background to black.
