  4. convenience on New Sony Minidisc Players · · Score: 2, Informative

i have many friends that use MD for the "convenience" factor... i never saw it but, i can appreciate it...

MiniDisks stay clean a lot better than CDs, and with the RW capabilities there, you can continue to add/remove songs and the like... MDs are smaller than CDs, and come in cool colors.

i dunno, improving the MD won't help anyone who has already adopted the format and with HDD MP3 players becoming so huge (iPod and the like), i doubt there will be any new adopters for the format... but if you weigh it all out, someone who travels alot (and has the input on their car reciever) MD v.s. CD... MD would win (if i could afford it)

  5. This gets one thinking... on The "Techie" Vote? · · Score: 5, Interesting

This makes me think that maybe the techies/geeks SHOULD band together (with groups like the EFF) to shape tech legislation and stop this government from taking away our personal freedoms, like routers, NAT, firewalls, and encryption.

Just a thought I've had for a while now.

yea, but the last cd I bought NOFX's War on Errorism , is 13.99 at Amazon, add in shipping and its close to the same price as at the music store. I don't download music, I stream it legally. I'm not supporting copyright infringement, but I'm not suporting the *AA either. I bought the CD at a concert that cost $10 to get into, and $5 for the CD. Im supporting bands directly by not using ticketmaster, and I'm supporting them even further by putting the money into the lead singers' hands.

The only place to buy CDs in Logantucky is a Sam Goody. With no competition for 35 miles, there is no other option. (Except WalMart, but you couldn't pay me to listen to censored music.) $18.99 for a new CD is normal. Hell, they've turned reservations and special orders into a paymetn system.

  11. I don't buy CDs on RIAA Warns Individual Swappers · · Score: 5, Interesting

I stopped buying CDs once this whole situation with copyrights and piracy came about. I barely download music, and strictly listen to others' CDs or stream obscure music from free sites. The last CDs I have purchased were independent, and CHEAP. I have not purchased a CD from a major music label in years, and do not plan to until prices for 10 songs goes below 20USD.

  20. Why sue Cohen? on Sex.com Case Finally 'Over' · · Score: 4, Insightful

Why sue Cohen? I mean, yes it was wrong of him to try and defraud VeriSign, but isn't it really VeriSign's fault for not VeriFying the transfer? Let VeriSign sue Cohen for attempt to defraud AFTER they discover that the transfer was not sanctioned. If VeriSign would have provided a little more customer service, Kremen wouldn't be out any money, and Cohen would not be hunted. Just a thought.

It will feature bullet-time animation, and Beastie travelling through 3-dimensional telnet and ssh sessions to successfully configure his beowulf community.

I will be sure not to use any phrases such as Unix, Linux, SCO, or FSF so that I am not sued.
