You do realize that there is a small relativistic effect when going through that orbit, causing Mr. Cretin to have the ability of an extra-long lifetime with respect to the normal people on earth. (twin paradox)
SWG on the other hand is widely considered a 'flop' by everyone, even (especially?) those who haven't ever played it.
Who is considering it a flop? It can't be Sony. You do know that SWG now has the second largest subscription base (second only to EQ) at over 60k people? Thats a lot of money, especially with the box purchases combined with the subscriptions. From a business standpoint, there is no way SWG can be considered a flop.
OTOH, the game is/was a let down to most MMORPG gamers. Over the last couple years, our expectations of games has risen considerably. All the features that were supposed to be included, all the unfixed bugs and non-punished cheats make it hard for us to accept the game.
Hell, thats the case for any of the new games, we are usually so in depth playing the old games (I still play AC1!) that we overlook alot of the glaring issues with them.

Obviously, you never worked on the software portion of an aerospace project.
I know from personal experience that the test-patch-test-patch cycle is alive and well in all the software products produced by the aerospace corporations that I have worked at.
The design of the product like a airplane or ship or whatever itself might need alot of upfront resources, but I will tell you that there are multimillion dollar maintenance contracts on aerospace software maintenance. Fixing bugs that got by QA.
This is for the software. Not the hardware.
And yes, these are Engineers. And there is a QA process, its just that it seems software is much more complex and is therefore much harder to test.
Universal Studios owns the rights to make movies of the LotR works. (I think its Universal, but the actual company is irrelevant).
The software publisher that owns the rights to distriubute video games (they pay a studio to design/code it for them) based on the LotR series is not Universal Studios, nor does it have any connection with Universal.
What you're talking about won't happen unless some of the media/movie companies start to buy out video game publishers, or video game publishers start to buy out movie studios. They are separate licensing agreements. The game publisher would have to make a deal witht he movie studio (and probably with the people they bought the rights from) to do a joint distribution of game and dvd.
So, you will see a DVD and movie tickets promotion, but you will never see game+movie promotions, they are separate entities.
P.S. Don't ask me why books from a publisher often have screencaptures from movies on thier cover after the movie is released.:|
the free yahoo mail web-client does that same thing, allowing you to block html from messages. Very useful. And only one click away from viewing the full html files (for those Dell small business emails!:)).
Actually, the reason that people can type fast isnt because of the thumb-input, it seems to be from the word completion algorithms in use.
For instance, you hit 2-7 it autofills in the word 'at'. Then as you type in more '3 Letter' keys, it will automatically fill in the most common words. When you are done and its not the word you want, you hit # or * or whatever and loop through all the words in the dictionary. So in the example above, you hit '*' then 'at' becomes 'as' and you keep typing away.
Which isn't even a good example, becuase it took 3 keystrokes for a 2 letter word, while it seems most 5+ words are guessed pretty readily by the completion algorithm.
Also to note, that it is *More* work to type 'L8' than 'Late', since to type L8 you need to use the non-completion input which would be done in 3 key presses to get L, then 4 to get 8. While 'Late' would take 4.
I have gotten like 5 or so unsolicited text messages (SMS is for europeans, in america we call it Freedom Text!;)) from my provider. Thats my provider (which sure as shit doesnt pay for them) telling me about upgrades and stuff to my accout, or offers that I could take advantage of.

They are talking about pre-emptively removing web-site hosting without considering the individual cases or going to court. The law they are using has to do with referencing the 'good-will' behavior of the reporting party.
All they have to do is hack into the Lineage servers and watch as 75% of South Korean males between the ages of 15 and 40 go into the fetal position from going 'cold turkey'.
as for TV, I wish it was totaly a-la-carte.
You should get a TiVO. Although you are paying for everychannel sent to you, you only watch what you want to watch and also whenever you want to watch it.
Its more "negative pressure", not really less than zero. When things explode they have a negative pressure (because they are expanding). When things are imploding, it means they have a positive pressure (i.e. there is pressure exerted on them).
Yes, it seems to be more of a client where you already have a trusted group of users either from real life (Say, a whole dorm hall or a bunch of co-workers) or from a presence online (Say, a whole gaming guild or software collaborators or even a little message board community) to open some of your system files to. It is a trusted way to get recommended files, be they legal or illegal.
You don't need to be in contact with strangers if all your friends have GBs upon GBs of "shared source".
IIRC, Those 11 POWs that were captured during the middle of the war (pre-bagdad) were captured because thier convoy was lost in the desert. Now reading that article, it comes as no surprise that they were captured and killed.
I'm surprised there weren't more convoys captured because they were lost and then given orders to drive into enemy territory as the way back or someother nonsense scenario where the common soldier does not have the correct equipemt to survive.
That kind of breakdown in communication should not even be a factor when it comes to human lives.

Actually, as I stated in a post above, SWG just passed UO in terms of popularity (where popularity is measured by number of subscriptions).
Although, with the people that play UO, they will be playing it forever, while the SWG people might burnout in 2-3 months.

Its like they aren't even normal hypocrites, they are *rank* hypocrites. I think "rank" is such an undervalued and underutilized word.
There is no way for companies to do this.

The earth is not a 'solid mass' either.
IIRC, it is composed of a 'liquid' core that is rotating as well (and faster than the rotation of the earth about the sun).
No planet, to anything other than a zeroth order calculation, follows the I=MR^2 rule of solid spheres for inertial mass.
I don't think its a dupe, just that there are mutliple articles starting to come out about the 'addictions of computer gaming' from various sources.
So, while it may seem familiar, I don't think its a dupe per se just an article about a very similar topic.

I'm not sure, but you might be able to tell from the sound level difference.
They should have reserver F# for thier 2004 implementation of Fortran.
F# sounds cooler than F90, F95, etc.
Its not connected to the internet... yet soldiers are required to use MS Online help to diagnose and solve problems.
How are they connecting to MS Online help if not through the internet?
