I run 802.11b between my build server and my OpenBSD firewall. When I install via ftp after doing a "make release" it would be nice to have additional bandwidth. I also backup over that wireless link to a backup server, in this case I would REALLY like additional bandwidth.
...three components: Security Stack, Life-Cycle Stack, and Business Stack. Sounds like a good way to have respective officers of a company plan for security, CTO handle security, CIO handle life-cycle, and CEO handle the business.

I do see a scary similarity between Sun and SGI right now. Sun could pull out of their decline but I have yet to see anything that would suggest that. I'm a Sun shareholder and hoping for the best, expecting the worst.
I was responding to the Anon Coward who replied to my post. I'd already responded positively to your having a conscience and providing a good environment for your subs. I completely agree with your perspective here.
Now that is REALLY funny. None of my friends and co-workers in the last 2 years have been laid off because of open source. You still need programmers whether you use open source or not. Your post was either a weak effort into sarcasm, or truly clueless.
One little difference between.name going under and.tv going under..tv was a country TLD co-opted by capitalists. How much control does Tuvalu have over.tv now? They seemed to have sold their soul to the devil.
...spoken like someone who hasn't looked for a job in the last 2 years. When was the last time you found a new job? Me, I looked for 18 months while I was subjected to 7x18 hour support of a pathetically performing national news website. Now that the huge multi-national conglomerate that owned my previous employer outsourced our division to save even more money I still haven't found a new position at even 60% my previous salary. In this job market employers will treat employees as shittily as they want.
Hmmm, sounds a little inbred to me. A subset of the House of Commons and House of Lords sure is quite different than the independent Government which you seemed to be implying.
The only person who should be arrested is you for your misuse of the word meme.
...is a major benefit. But these do-not-call lists still don't address the bulk of my spam, which is usually done by fly-by-night, illegal operations. Hell, I don't even have a listed phone number and the large number of calls I receive from politicians and telemarketers through war-dialing is astounding. Do politicians honor do-not-call lists?
Oh please, the momentum behind Linux has hardly anything to do with whether it is licensed under the GPL or not. It has everything to do with receiving favorable press at the right time in it's development.
...but who cares? People who license their code under the BSD License don't waste time and energy investigating these types of issues. Instead, they keep coding.
Go ahead and moderate me down as flamebait for my heretical thoughts, but I fail to see how fighting these battles is at all productive.
...with remote administration abilities my boss expected me to keep an eye on things 18 hours a day. During that woeful period I definitely worked more at home than I played at work. That is, until we learned that our overworked and understaffed dept was being outsourced. Then it was all play and little work for 6 months with some job searching going on, too.
Yeah, Linix may suck, but since I've never used it I can't really comment. In general I'm platform agnostic and choose amongst Linux, OpenBSD, and Mac OS X depending on what my needs are. And all OSes have their security issues.
...but I beg to differ with the $10,000 amount. And I'd hope that even a high school graduate could make more than $30k a year with a good understanding of Linux systems administration.

I don't see anywhere where you mention size and weight. After all, those were high on the purchaser's list of priorities.
...this is what I'm going to treat myself to.

...I wish my boss at my last job understood this: "you need a minimum of 5 people to provide round the clock support." Two people didn't quite cut it!
You are fortunate and you have a conscience. That's a good combo.

And that cosplay.com! Wow, who wudda thought female geeks are just as bizarre as male geeks?
"It (it being Parliament) consists of three constituent parts:
* House of Commons
* House of Lords
* Crown"
"Members of the Government are usually either members of the House of Commons or House of Lords."
Kind of confusing, innit? Both Houses being included in both entities.

I take it all coders who publish under the GPL only code because they know that no one will profit off of their work?
And I agree that GPL licensors should pursue their rights, in a court of law if need be.

...those were the best questions and answers I've read in a Slashdot interview.
