Good point. Been so long since I've seen Ep. I that'd I'd forgotten Lucas' first misuse of this literary techinique. Poor guy thinks that such things will actually earn him respect again. I got news: It's too late.
I snagged the Dragon Warrior deal. And played the HELL out of that game. Made the subscription well worth it. That was a good RPG. I was an Enix fan long before I became a Square fan.
Just because IBM specializes in PowerPC chips, does not mean that they cannot design an x86 compatible chipset. Their facilities will just as easily manufacture a x86 wafer as they would a PPC wafer. Still, it'll be interesting to see what kind of chip ends up in the xbox 2.
Mod Up. Get the fucking politicals off of slashdot. I don't come here for politics, I come here to get off on tech. There is NOTHING tech-related to this.
aren't there bigger issues concerning this terrible disaster? People are dying and nearly 1000 homes are burning. I realize that this is an article making a point but let's not lose focus on what's really important about this fire.
The whole chronicle leading up this this game was shown on some show on TechTV, IIRC. Anyhow, the show focused on XBox development and featured insider footage with the development teams and the product managers. This game went through several rewrites before the original team was let go and eventually canned. The game just sucked to begin with and you could tell from the tedious process they were going through and the dead ends they kept hitting. The product managers disliked everything they kept bringing to the weekly meetings. They even showed the dev team "showing off" completed scenes. I watched and kept thinking "This game is going to SUCK!" Later in the show, they revealed that the team was so far behind schedule and so mediocre that they were canned. They brought in a completely different team and they started from scratch. This is the fruition of their hard work. Congrats, guys, on what looks to be a job well done!
... is that I have finally seen slashdot use a G5 icon for a G5 story. This opposed to the up-til-recent use of a G4 icon for G5 stories. Thank you, slashdot editors!
And don't give me crap about how he should have notarized it. You don't really believe a college student should have to go notarize every fucking song and poem they write. The problem here is simpler than that.
Actually, the solution here, for the poor college student, is simpler than that.
You don't have to have something notarized to make it copyrighted. Just mail it to yourself. A US Post Office postmark serves as a legal seal saying "I wrote this on this date." It's an old songwriters' means of copyrighting material.
I know this doesn't invalidate your point (in fact, I agree with everything else you say) but it's still something useful that all aspiring independent artists need to know. Copyright your own work via the USPS and then sue the heck out of J.Lo or whoever many years later.
1) It's far from the same. Play with it and Jaguar side by side and you'll see real quickly. 2) At least Apple releases major upgrades in a timely fashion. I bought WinXP in 2001. Say hello to Longhorn in 2006.
Apple's timing for these upgrades is what makes me chuckle. I know that it's not intentional so I'm not complaining. But I just renewed my.Mac at $99 (no complaints, it's well worth it. I've gotten great deals over the year from them: free software, integrated features, and a permanent email address). And now I have to pay $129 for 10.3. Just bad timing for my wallet. Did I mention I'm getting married Saturday? "Honey, I know we just got back from the honeymoon, but this is PANTHER!!!"
Now I'm hungry. And definitely not for a N-Gage. Forget looking like a choco-taco. That's just insulting to the choco-taco. Put it beside a GBA SP and just witness the ugliness of the N-Gage.
And you have done what exactly to prove your greater intelligence? Oh yeah. You've taxed the fsck out of your peasants and created a giant socialist welfare hole. Better looking? I don't seem to remember that many Canadians being featured in People Magazine's 100 Best Looking annual issue. Name one. Weigh less? Only because you spend too much money on health care and can't afford to buy grease. That and the fact that Krispy Kreme doughnuts hasn't made it over the border yet.
Other than that, you have provided us with Dan Rather and a bunch of comedians. Or am I being redundant? Congrats, Canada. You are on a fine path to save the world. Now get in line right behind France.
And so that I am not off-topic: I'm glad Intel is designing this chip. It's a great way to show companies that they are not souly Bill Gate's DRM tool. And as long as Apple maintains the Darwin x86 code, hope is alive for B.Y.O.M. (build your own mac). And finally: What country leads in chip and computer technology innovation? Oh, that's right: USA.
One thing I do to keep "track" of them is to use one of those personal labelers from Brother or Casio (another great invention) to put my name on the inside cartridge. Since the tube is translucent, everyone can tell that the pen is mine. Just be warned: the really greedy will take them anyhow.

Even with a PC, it's about as useless as a single media device can be.
Please tell me it was forced upon you. And if so, cut your losses and cut them early.

The "new" eMacs are still 12 mbps USB. What a shame.
You're wrong.

"Gaming Workstation".... Does anyone else think that this is oxymoronic?
To paraphrase: "It's okay to love your OS, just don't love your OS."
Well, now you know how Apple feels. We all have typographical/grammatical goof-ups every now and then. ;o)

Pay more attention to the other posts. Yours is far from the first complaint. This is slashdot, after all.
"minimum": the least possible quantity or degree.
someone's always bitching about the ctrl key thing. get over it. my pinky finds it just fine and screw the carpal tunnel.

I think they should rename it: "Half-Life Forever!"
