You clearly don't understand how things work here at slashdot. Nobody hear wants someone to tell them that corporations are actually made up of real people. They just want to keep shaking their fist and cursing the corporate machine.
In other news Microsoft fanboy/. once again
Hahaha, yeah... In other news, Fox News blasted for catering too much to the Democratic party. Michael Moore accused of disguising government as documentaries. Also a new WSJ editorial advises you to put all of your money under your mattress.
Are you asserting that Sony is responsible for compact discs? Because if so, you are just plain ignorant. We can thank Phillips for compact discs. All Sony ever did was make CD players.
The server and the RFID tag have a secret key that they both know. The server sends out a random number and then the tag is used to send a response that requires both the secret key and the random number to generate. Then spoofing the output of the tag would no longer work. Of course, I don't even know if it's possible to do logic like that on RFID tags, and there's probably another way to break that security anyway.
Yeah, I tried using the comcast DVR but it was such an aweful device that I decided to give up HDTV and go back to using my TiVo. It couldn't even handle creating a season pass or automatically deleting shows to make room for new shows. What I really want is a Windows MCE box so I can stream HDTV to my Xbox 360, but if I could get a Series 3 TiVo or quiet MythTV box in a form factor that'll fit in my TV stand that would let me get all of my HDTV channels, I would take it. Honestly, a decent HDTV DVR is like the impossible to find unicorn for me right now.
DRM should never be an issue if you're using a tuner card created before broadcast flag legislation gets passed (if it ever does). But unfortunately anyone who wants cable stations in HDTV is already screwed. MythTV along with just about every other decent DVR solution doesn't support CableCard or any other way to get digital channels off cable unless you are lucky enough to have a cable company who allows you to use firewire on the cable box or doesn't encrypt their signals. So basically this device won't help you watch The Sopranos in HDTV. Lame.
But Cop Land was the only good movie Sylvester Stallone ever made, so that must mean that this will be the best Microsoft OS ever made. Hurray for Microsoft!
Not financially, and not in units sold - the PS2 outsold the XBox by more than 10:1.
Either you are amazingly bad at math or you are just making crap up. The Xbox had shipped more than 25 million units, the last time I saw figures. That would mean the PS2 has sold more than 250 million units. Last time I heard they had shipped 100 million units. Yeah, the PS2 sold a lot better than the 360, but don't just make up numbers.
So, your analysis that Sony will falter and Microsoft will do better seems to not be based on the reality of the situation.
Well, here's some realities (with an assumption or two mixed in). Microsoft has a console out, and more and more games are coming out for it. Sony does not have a console out. The longer the PS3 takes to come out the better the 360 library will look when it finally does come out. Sony is playing catchup with online gaming. By all reports the PS3 is not more powerful than the Xbox 360 by a wide enough margin for it to matter. HDTV penetration is still extremely low, so the vast majority of people do not need Blu-ray, plus Microsoft will have an HDDVD addon supposedly, so if the addon comes out at $100 and there is a $100 price drop on the Xbox 360 then you will probably be able to get an Xbox 360 with HD-DVD addon for the same price as a PS3. Plus based on the components that Sony claims will be in the PS3 it's foolish to think that the PS3 will ever be able to be priced below the Xbox 360, which the PS2 was at times.
Granted, Sony has a lot going for them too, but your post pretty much came off like "Microsoft is teh suck, Sony 4 EV4R!".
Hey look! I can come up with examples that are loaded to make my point too! Indies created about 1000 tetris clones, about 100 puzzle games, about 1000 different texas hold 'em games. Major developers have come out with things like The Sims, Ultima Online, Half-Life 2, the controller for the Nintendo Revolution (ok, not out yet) and the Nintendo DS. I guess indie developers haven't done anything worth playing, ever. My examples just proved it.
I decided I want to spend a small chunk of my tax refund on a DS this year. Instead of waiting I'm just going to buy the current one and be happy with it. Once I've decided to buy something, I'm no good at waiting around.

God, why do I never have mod points when I see something asinine like this modded up. Geometry Wars looks and plays better in HD. Marble Blast Ultra looks much better in HD. In any game you can see more detail and more clarity in HD (if it's written to play in HD). The Revolution is not going to retail for $133 and might not have anything other than classic nintendo games, so forget the "Xbox Live Arcade for 1/3 the price". They're entirely different products.
And for christ's sake, every time a Nintendo fanboy tries to pretend that Sony, Microsoft, and the PC gaming industry aren't marketing fun, it makes me hope that every single one of Nintendo's offices burn to the ground and they never produce another piece of hardware or software again, just to spite the ignorant fanboys. Nobody is worse than Nintendo fanboys in my opinion. Nobody.
With all that said, I'm looking forward to picking up a new DS in a couple days with my tax refund.
The way Bill has driven others from the field proves that non free software can only proffit by theft and draconian control.
Okay, your whole post is pretty terrible, but I decided to just pick one of the most glaring points, because let's face it, the last thing most people on slashdot want is a reasoned debate. One example does not prove something for all cases. That's like saying that if Seattle wins the superbowl on Sunday, it will prove that you can only win the Superbowl if you are from the west coast.
It might not stop the used game business, but having to let someone else have an account that has your username and password tied to it or maybe even your personal information will keep a lot of people from selling used games. Plus what if you have a download system but you buy multiple games from the same seller, and to sell them you would have to sell your whole account, meaning you can't just sell one game, you have to sell them all.
Hahaha, have you ever played GTA? Remember all the cut scenes where your character interacts with someone to find out what your mission is? You can skip them but then half the time you don't know what you're doing. Good way to make a point.
With MMOGs people usually have an attachment to their account, and many people have more than one account. I don't think they're quite as worried about used games sales as other industries are. Oh, plus they still get subscription fees from used game sales.
I thought Pete Townsend lost his hearing because of a mishap with the band's pyrotechnics, which caused a very loud explosion. If I'm remembering correctly, and that is what happened, it's not exactly the same thing as listening to your music too loud. Either way, the guy suing Apple is stupid.
Damn it, that's what I get for posting on ars all the time and not slashdot. It should have read...
That is why we should remove all sources of income from our representatives. They should A. Have to come to work for free (they get food and shelter of course), B. Should NOT be allowed to reenter the private markets after serving, etc. Thus everyone would do what's in the best interests for prosperity of all and not be able to take any non-monetary kickbacks in the future.
Wow, this is a bad idea. If this were to happen the only people who could afford to be representatives are the super rich. Otherwise, you would be destitute before and during your term in office. The other poster who said that lower pay is more likely to lead to corruption is right.
Congressmen should make more money than they do probably, but the real problems with corruption are related to campaign financing rather than money going into the candidates pocket. I don't have a solution for that though, but your suggestion certainly isn't it. But wow! I'm just stunned by what a bad idea that is.

The best part of your post was the part where you provided all that evidence to back up your claims.
Moving your foot would be too slow. Blinking is the new escape key.
The PS3, PS2, Wii, GameCube, Xbox, Xbox 360, Radeon X1900, and GeForce 7800 are all pretty much just toys..
Wow, that response was totally unexpected, and completely original.

OMG. I want that game. When is it coming out? Will it have big guns? Can I dual wield? Will it have online death-matches?
Does that mean that we should all vote Republican because the Democrats want to overthrow the government and install a democracy?

On some servers you can get gold for $35 for $1000 gold, i.e. less than 4 cents per gold.
