I'm very sorry, I didn't mention I was a mac user, all I have been doing is clicking "import" (only once per cd btw), do I need an education in verbose, are you willing to teach me? ;)

Imagine what would of happened if EMI did market the Grey album rather than try to destroy it? Had they embraced it and P2P, they would of been far happier than they are now. Look at what happened with the indies, they are looking healthy because of it.

or mainly their bitching, I heard about the Grey Album and downloaded it to see what the fuss was about. Had they not done anything I would of been none the wiser, now I posess an albums worth of good music.
Btw, I don't own any other illegal mp3s. Just the Grey album because EMI moaned rather than marketed it. Given a chance, I'd still pay for the cd however, the bit rates are lower (192kbps) than what I rip at (256kbps).

Your comparision is wrong, a lot more people are aware of firehazards in the home. Compare the number of burning houses to systems infected worldwide daily.

When it comes to computers, people are generally ignorant other than to learn what they need to, knowing somewhat that computing as a whole is huge, they just want to get their work done and who can blame them?
Parent is right, we need something really destructive for people to be really pissed off and think about what they are doing or not doing. You watch how many tech writers, when they get back online, express their views after having all their work formatted by a virus or newspaper agencies for that matter. The big push will come from the big companies, watch how they might get pissed the most.
Explain to your boss how using IE will format your PC if you go to the wrong website, you think they are still going to use IE?

From all accounts, there is huge interest in this macworld, its being hyped up and they might fear that the webcast cannot handle any sort of predicted load. Instead they will just release it later after all the fanfare and the need to watch it dies away. Just as everyone says, it'll be out on the net anyway moments after the annoucement.
In any case I'll stay off the mac websites until its out for streaming, I want to be equally disappointed like I was last year when GarageBand was demoed for something like 2 hours with some no name artist looking interested. :)

Maybe, but thats your opinion and I think you are generalising the slashdot crowd, a lot people here are actaully sick of the anti-MS stance here because it clouds discussion. We would have to wait and see the next time MS comes into the limelight.

I think you will find that Apple is suing somebody for breaking an NDA somewhere. By your rational, because its Apple, they should let people say whatever they want without being sued?
Btw, I don't remember MS or SCO suing somebody for breaking an NDA, normally its an IP rights issue or because some kid has a website like "mikerowsoft.com". If you're going to troll, you should click "Post Anonymously" and get a clue.

I'm a fanboy as well. But Apple are right in doing this to one of the best rumour sites on the net. What if this information is false but because of it, their share price goes up and there is a geniune interest from investors. Only for the rumour to be false and thus they get hit by it.
Thats not to say however that they will succeed, I think they are after the people who leak information to TS. Im not up to date on american law, but wouldn't TS be protected by some sort of freedom of speech law.
In any case, I don't think Nick Depulme is bothered, he's still posting rumours on his site, even after the lawsuit! TS have just confirmed the ipod micro rumour.
