  1. More competition on Will Google Launch A Browser? · · Score: 3, Insightful

What if Google can do something or have something (an idea) which no other browser has implemented? Google has already shaken up the search market and is now shaking up the email market with its Gmail service. What happens if lighting can strike a third time and create some sort of healthy competition for the brower market once again? At least mindshare would come from it and people would realise there is more than just IE out there. A lot of people use google and they are not geeks either, which is what we want.

I would of thought it would be better performing since its throughput is higher and sustainable plus isn;t processor dependent, those exact things USB 2 hasn't got. If its price then surely there isn't that much difference and just plain wrong if there is a superior connectivity standard out there?

Again I agree, I point out TCO of a machine when comparing a windows machine to a mac for a typical homeowner because they think they save money by buying a cheap MS box but then call me out to help them and then buy the extra software to stem the flow of crap that is viruses and spam from the net.

While i'm not disagreeing with you, I got the impression that his business was very small so it was better for him to do it himself. If the business was a whole lot bigger then I think your answer is applicable. But if it is a small operation then he is better of doing it himself and only spending his time on it and probably with a few other things, his TCO will be lower than getting somebody to do it for him. If he set it up then he knows what he is doing where the server is concerned and if he has a problem then he can DIY.

My angle is similar to the way Chinese and Japanese langauges have splintered. Visually they are different but aurally they are nearly the same, but one isn't called Japanese-Chinese is it? I'm not suggesting the English way is better, but calling something English when it clearly isn't anymore, is wrong.

You got a point. American-English should now just be called American that way I won't confuse myself when coming to American website where the regional language is American and Not English. Calling it American-English brings out all sorts of wierd connotations like American-English being English!
But my point in that particular thread was about how my research was being slowed down by this regional thing and it should never of happened. But Americans have to do things their way as usual.

  19. No to the Euro idea on iTunes(UK) Targeted By The Office of Fair Trading · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Why should we change to the Euro when the Pound is so strong and when a minority of people use the Apple Store? The simpler solution is for Apple is to change whatever file they have on their database and reset the price to something lower rather than telling the UK populace to hand over the coin and then have the Royal Mint either close or start producing European Toilet paper for us Brits to use.
I can see Tony Blair coming on TV and announcing the acceptance of the Euro because the iTunes music store is charging people more than our European cousins. People are going to scream "WTF" to the Euro and to the music store, both of which the UK population in the majority don't know much about. Get real, it just isn't practical.
Besides size matters and have you seen the size of a Euro note? Its the size of a sticky note!!! The lyrics of "God save our gracious Queen" won't fit on both sides!
